Newcastle could be in line for more transfer disappointment. Sky Sports is reporting Axel Tuanzebe will sign a one-year extension with Manchester United before heading to Villa Park on a season-long loan.
Earlier today, there were claims Villa boss Dean Smith wanted the 23-year-old on a permanent. However, it appears the defender will return to Villa Park, but only on another season-long loan.
Tuanzebe’s current deal expires next summer but the Red Devils have an option for a further year. His new contract will keep him at Old Trafford until 2023 with the option for another year still intact.
Basically, it appears that Manchester United have kicked the can down the road on the defender for another year. He’ll head to Aston Villa for this season then return to Manchester United to fight for his place next summer.
This is a blow for Bruce who wants to add a young center-back to his aging group. Tuanzebe would be a perfect addition on the right side of a back three with his pace and athleticism.
There’s no fee mentioned in the report but recently it was suggested Manchester United wanted £5m for their Academy product to go out on loan. Whether that was the stumbling block on a move to St. James’ Park or the player preferred Aston Villa is not clear just yet.
He will face a fight for starts at Villa. Tyrone Mings and Ezri Konsa both started 35 or more times in the league last season. They are one of the league’s better center-back partnerships and will it will be a big ask to unseat either on of them.

Comment #3Apparently we had too many CBs to start with, plenty Strikers to.
I know we’ve got plenty keepers as about 4 are injured.

I didn’t realise how bad his injuries have been until I saw.

Comment #9I’m not as pessimistic about coming season, we’ve got an ok team for 13-15 place finish – I’ve lowered my expectations of troubling top half under current owner / mgr but if we manage to keep players fit and play counterattack we will cause teams problems, Jones adding some tactical nous and let’s not forget as much as we hate the current regime we have some of the best support in the world

Comment #10Phil Jones would be better than Tuanz. But only because he would retire sooner and not stink up our squad for as long constantly injured.

You’re right in that Mund hasn’t risen to the Bard’s latest ditty and that’s creditable.
Bard touched on there being two minds at work in Mund’s head with each getting mixed up which and who they were talking as.
That reminded me of Jib and jane’s conversations where they seemed to be so involved that they lost track of who was talking to the other and about what.
But, those days have gone

The squad may look ok if it’s free of injuries and so on.
It’s surely inadequate in that it hasn’t got the strength in depth to provide adequate cover when required.

Comment #16Oh Munster, you just can’t help yourself can you. Someone else slags Rafa, in this case, Bills and boom…you’re right in there.
The ”miracle” quote was so obvious, even to the meanest intelligence, a prompt for Ashley to spend. It also probably had the effect of galvanising the players to give another 5-10% and finishing 10th first season back up at the first time of asking, all on a minus net spend with a team built for the champo was a phenomenal achievement. But no, let’s rubbish a great man instead.
Under the circumstances comparing bruce to Rafa is a sign of utter lunacy. As has been said if Rafa was backed the way Bruce was we’d be going for Europe and vice verca we’d be back in the champo.
What really shows you up is how much you’re probably hoping rafa bombs at Everton just to make you feel better. No takeover, no ambition and no future staying at NUFC. I don’t blame Rafa one bit and wish him all the best. Can’t imagine bruce getting flags with his picture and name on it any time soon.

Good job bruce has such an impeccable injury record.
They can’t think much of Bruce, a foormer CB and captain at OT if Tuanzebe is going to Villa.

Comment #18I cant get excited about rumours on Twitter but the thought did cross my mind that if Ashley truly believes he has sold the club subject to the all clear from PL then I cant imagine him being the kind of man to sit back and do nothing whilst patiently waiting for arbitration next year.
I think he has undoubtedly instructed his legal team to apply maximum pressure for a resolution to this ridiculous situation.

Comment #19Ruddy I’m not particularly bothered what you or anyone else thinks of my opinion on Rafa but its worth correcting you in the interests of accuracy. Id have had Rafa earlier this summer before he moved to Everton and am on record a few times as saying this. He’s miles better than Bruce.
But I never bought into the total lack of critical analysis on him, the shouting down on comments about the negatives that are and were obvious – and the errors and flaws that make up any manager.
The negative football was never his fault. Any signings that didnt work out – were never his fault.
He was a good manager for us, and should still be here, but just because thats true does not diminish the fact that any manager can be criticised. Just because he had a good history and won trophies, i believe he was put beyond criticism.
I dont believe that should have happened, not do i put up with people shouting down an opinion on him that negative.
He was hugely positive for us too – obviously – and far more positive than negative too – but i believe that the infighting that I have had to do here, has left people with a jaundiced opinion that I hated the man, and that clearly includes you.
Its also wrong, but as I said, if you choose to think that way, go ahead , its a free world and its partly my own fault for banging the drum for too long, but too many here just like to form one opinion – black or white ( so to speak ) , and that aint me about this matter.
But hatred of him by me ? Miles off.

Comment #23Munster…… I dont know what Rafa has done to have filled you with such despise for him I really don’t.
Surely the guy deserves a break now to get on with his new job without all the continual hatred . We all know he would have continued to try his best to achieve things at our club , which he massively respected along with the fans, had he been given a fair opportunity to do so.
Dint you think it’s time you reciprocated some of the respect he showed us???

Comment #26If the takeover rumours are coming from the likes of that EnGee and Sean Casey guy, I’ll not get any hopes up. The first admitted to winding people up and the second has got plenty wrong in just the last 2 weeks, changing his story to something else whenever he’s wrong. I’d love it to be true but if these guys say it’s happening, probably the opposite is actually happening.

Comment #27Not from Engee or Sean Casey.
Engee actually use to get a lot right but he got a lot wrong in a short space of time so it looked like he made it a piss take account.
Every bit of info or rumour should always be took with a pinch of salt nobody is saying BELIEVE IT!
We have lived with rumours for decades, some play out some don’t. It’s the same with journos when they put out we are linked to this player or that player and end up being linked with over a 100 players before the window shuts and sign 1 or 2.

Comment #29The reality is we might of been involved in a lot more, some could of been an inquiry and a journo has led to it or it could of been more.
Because we don’t see these players sign or a concrete offer made doesn’t mean there wasn’t some actual truth to being linked.

Comment #31Fair enough if they didn’t start it, but they are saying they believe it and sharing it. Which gives it less credibility in my eyes, seeing as one admitted to winding people up and the other I haven’t seen her anything right yet, but got plenty wrong. I really want it to be true, I just can’t think of any reason why either the consortium or the league would leak information regarding it out. It would all be extremely behind closed doors given the media circus last time.

Comment #40Pinch of salt is right, I’m not attempting to argue at all by the way. But genuinely, if you try and think of how the rumour started, it must have come from someone involved in the negotiations right? So either the consortium or the league. The consortium surely wouldn’t leak info due to the media circus last time, everyone coming out to publicly condemn it. The league surely wouldn’t leak info as they’d get Bein and the top 6 on their case. So I just can’t see how such information would find it’s way out from the two sides negotiating.
Hoping there’s truth in it but looking at it logically, it just doesn’t make sense as to how anyone would know that information.
