Newcastle And Other Affected Premier League Clubs Working To Have Player Bans Overturned

While we wait on an injury update from Steve Bruce on Callum Wilson and Ryan Fraser, it appears that Miguel Almiron will not be available for the Manchester United match on Saturday.

The Northern Echo is reporting that Newcastle have been informed by FIFA that a ban is in place for Almiron after he was not released for international duty with Paraguay. Manchester United midfielder Fred has also been banned as he was not allowed to link up with the Brazilian squad for this international break.

Other Brazilians that are also unavailable this weekend are Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino, Fabinho, and Allison, Manchester City duo Ederson and Gabriel Jesus, Chelsea defender Thiago Silva, and Leeds attacker Raphinha.

Wolves forward Raul Jimenez (Mexico) and Watford defender Francisco Sierralta (Chile) are also set to miss this weekend’s games. Newcastle and their Premier League counterparts are working in concert to have the bans overturned.

Almiron has started Newcastle’s first three Premier League matches. If he remains ineligible this weekend, it is likely Sean Longstaff will get his second straight Premier League start. Jeff Hendrick could also be an option after his excellent performance in the Carabao Cup.

Steve Bruce will be without Jonjo Shelvey and Martin Dubravka, who continue their recovery from long-term injuries. Callum Wilson’s availability remains unknown after a thigh injury forced an early exit against Southampton.

The outlook for Ryan Fraser doesn’t look promising at all. The winger was withdrawn from the Scotland squad after suffering an injury in training. He was spotted on crutches with a protective boot on his right leg on Monday.

It could be good news on Karl Darlow, who has reportedly recovered from his bout with Covid and could be available on Saturday. Bruce didn’t risk Isaac Hayden or Paul Dummett against The Saints. The pair have had an additional two weeks to recover and should also be ready to go this weekend.

    Which posters?

The only time I’ve seen posters go after anyone like a pack of hyenas was the mob after Kevin Vegan.

Which everyone denies being part of

I don’t think anyone was bashed for being positive. More a case of argumentative people bashing other argumentative people for being argumentative, then complaining the other argumentative person started the argument when in truth they’d both long since forgot what they were arguing about.

Positive or negative, I find the takeover stuff tedious as I gather It’s going to drag on forever and might never happen, so I just skip over any post with CAT in it.

    ZG,
Aye, in between those 3, 4, 5 and 6-0 hammerings every third game, the football was canny??? We won five games under him, one of them Bournemouth that was possibly the most one sided game ever seen. Where did we fit this canny football in to that?

All I know is that I’ve never felt this negative about the club I’ve supported my whole life as I do now.

There’s no direction, there’s no-one at the helm. We’re just drifting towards relegation. I can only hope that If/when we go down MA decides he needs to protect his investment and try to get us back up again, but realistically I think he’ll happily just let us rot.

It usually went, someone posts something positive, it gets questioned, the person questioning gets called negative/doom and gloom, positive person thinks they can’t be positive but in reality people just wanted to know what it was based on. Then it led to arguing as some people got personnel with it or responded with snide remarks. Nobody has ever not been allowed to be positive or negative as far as I’m aware. Questioning something doesn’t mean it’s not allowed, question the hell out of why I’m negative I don’t mind. It’s when people either took it personally or got personal that it led to arguments that could have been avoided.

If you want to become a master at talking tripe, this is the place to larn.

Take no notice of the nit-picking angry posters – their days are made when they think they’ve shown themselves to be cleverer than anyone else.

Just bear in mind that there’re more decent folk on here than there are nasties, who just like to hear themselves spout.

Adam I think party of the issue with the positivity is that the most positive person, was one who attracted a lot of aggro, and dosed it out too.

In other words, if a moderate poster on here said the same positive things, he wouldn’t have got jumped on as fast, if at all.

Sometimes you’d wonder why we all bother with the place as most days its basically 1. Ashley is sh1t , 2, Bruce is sh1t, 3. The Steve’s are sh1t, 4. Some sh1te about Rafa, 5 a few arguments and 6, General cynicism re the takeover etc

In reality we mostly talk about 1 or 2 , so it gets a bit repetitive. And the mood is generally crap, as we are all fed up with it.

The blokes who consider themselves important here jumped up and down like religious preachers when guys talked about music or other stuff.

So I think you’d have to wonder about most of us!

I totally missed Mund’s departure. Was it a particular incident or a series of events that led to it? While we may have been critical of his almost evangelical
” we will be born into a new era” line, he was unfailingly upbeat about a takeover and for him alone I’d love to see it still go through and I would gladly take any amount of ”I told you so” from him.

    magicmac54,
I hope you are well. I think Brucie needs to be very careful what he says these next ten days as people are fed up to the back teeth of him. I heard Caulkin and Waugh describe the atmosphere against Soton like a tinder box waiting to go up. Nothing’s changed, this transfer window has only made things worse and depending on what he says to the press can make or break him. It’s a Friday night game with extra beers in a tetchy environment with Leeds anyway, and if he starts defending Ashley’s transfer policy, we get humped off Man U and he’s seen laughing and joking with Ole then I think Pardew and Mclarens treatment will seem very mild.

    Jail for Ashley

Good evening Jail lad, i trust your very well. The way i see things at Newcastle at the moment its like a pressure cooker just ready to explode, if they get a right royal humping against Manure, followed by another defeat against leeds, then all bets are off, the volcano will erupt, all that pent up frustration and anger will come to the fore, no doubt it will get very very messy. Away for a shower Jail, probably catch you later mate.

Can we just hope that if anything kicks off at SJP, it’ll be controlled voices making their feelings clear.

Given there’s been history between Toon and Leeds fans (at least there used to be), let’s hope there’s no inter-fan trouble. If anything, it’d help if Leeds fans were on-side about Toon fans’ views of Ashley and the EPL.

Education Secretary Gavin Williamson has admitted making a “mistake” when he confused footballer Marcus Rashford with rugby player Maro Itoje.

The Evening Standard newspaper quoted Williamson as saying he had enjoyed a Zoom discussion with England and Manchester United’s Rashford.

But an aide later clarified that it had actually been with Itoje.

Manchester-raised Rashford called the difference in accent between him and Londoner Itoje a possible “giveaway”. (BBC)
