Newcastle Name 25-Man Squad As Striker Is Missing From Training Images

Newcastle United have confirmed their 25-man squad for the first half of this Premier League campaign. As expected after the disappointing deadline day, Bruce has named four goalkeepers in the squad.

Here is the official 25-man squad Bruce has named:

1 Martin Dúbravka
2 Ciaran Clark
3 Paul Dummett
5 Fabian Schär
6 Jamaal Lascelles
7 Joelinton
8 Jonjo Shelvey
9 Callum Wilson
10 Allan Saint-Maximin
11 Matt Ritchie
12 Jamal Lewis
14 Isaac Hayden
16 Jeff Hendrick
17 Emil Krafth
18 Federico Fernández
19 Javier Manquillo
21 Ryan Fraser
23 Jacob Murphy
24 Miguel Almirón
26 Karl Darlow
27 Freddie Woodman
28 Joe Willock
29 Mark Gillespie
34 Dwight Gayle
36 Sean Longstaff

Newcastle can resubmit their squad in January where we’ll hopefully bring in some players at least on loan.

The club has also released images from today’s training session. The Magpies who were away on international duty (Emil Krafth, Jamal Lewis, Jeff Hendrick, and Fabian Schar) are back in training.

However, there is no Callum Wilson in any of the images. The statement released with the photographs simply said Steve Bruce would provide an update on the striker during Friday’s press conference for the Manchester United match. It looks like we’ll be without Callum on Saturday.

Karl Darlow, however, is back in training so should at least make the bench for Old Trafford. Elliot Anderson is also working his way back to full fitness after a hip problem sidelined him for the entirety of pre-season. The 18-year-old did not have to be registered in the 25-man squad.

So Bruce will likely be without Jonjo Shelvey, Martin Dubravka, and Wilson this weekend. Ryan Fraser has also suffered what looks to be a serious injury while training with Scotland. He was seen in a walking boot on Monday.

Tomorrow’s press conference should provide some insight into the severity of both Callum’s and Ryan’s injuries. However, it looks like we’ll be without some firepower against The Red Devils as Miguel Almiron could also be banned.

How Will Newcastle Do At Manchester United On Saturday?

Not sure about the logic behind Bruce being in on it. He really did need two more players, the club could easily have done more to get them in for him, and now he’s staring down the barrel of a crowd that is itching to vent their spleen and he fully knows it. I don’t have huge sympathy for him, he should have known better, but the club is run by like an SD outlet, and I don’t think you can say he’s anywhere near influencing how Ashley goes about it.

On the subject of Joel, a genuine folly at 40 million quid to lead the line, but had he been brought in as a 20 million quid wide attacker, or second striker, and played there, then there’d be far less derision, and that would have been plenty good enough to get a start for us, had he been handled better.

They’re doing it again with Murphy now, and Miggy, playing players out of position to suit their misguided recruitment policy. They bought St Max, a winger, even though he is a liability defensively, and now he’s playing second striker because of it, in a bizarre 33211, to find some formation that might work, for a while.

If Bruce were in on this, he’d be a thoroughgoing dope. What he is is a patsy for an owner who refuses to learn or be advised, and must now realize it.

Harrogate Town are home to Newport County tomorrow evening. Harrogate are top of league 2 with 4 wins and a draw so far.

If Dubs is out till approx Xmas why didn’t they just leave him out and reinstate him in January. They then could have called up Langley as he’s not required to be registered. He could have been a absolute emergency back up and Bruce could have called up an extra outfield player in Dubs place.

Dubravka has taken a place Choudhury could have had, and naming 4 keepers certainly doesn’t offer much encouragement to Woodman or Gillespie, or even Langley. I like Dubravka though, but it makes little sense at all unless he’s back within ten games.

The only solution to get ASM.on the wing is to put Dummet behind them. Dummets flaw is he doesn’t go forward much, ASMs is he doesn’t go back much. They’d bring balance. Lewis is very attack minded so it would be kamakaze to play him with ASM although Lewis & Joelinton would work.

Is this OUR Ed Harrison? I can’t see anyone in England being up at this hour watching this match. Cracking match though. Very happy for Emma coming from being a qualifier and getting into the final 🙂

On your keeper. If Alisson doesn’t play you’ll get Woodmans points, but play Alisson anyway just in case the clubs get a last minute reprieve.

    The Tinman,
Let’s see what he says about Wilson, Torres missed a price rise so still at 7.1 have just enough to do Ings> Ron Bruno > Jota BUT if Wilson is out can do Wilson Ron Bruno Torres, gut says Jota but don’t want to be lumbered with an injured Wilson :grittedteeth: emoji.

    hibbit,
It is going to be seriously interesting unless of course he gives strict instructions not to mention the window at all on threat of exclusion from further pressers. What can he say, they 100% said he was in on the idea of no more transfers, how does he disagree with that? If he defends them, whoever it was that wrote the statement anyhow, he knows he is at great risk of infuriating that Leeds crowd even more.

Emma Raducanu could make history by being the first British woman to win the U.S open tennis, and at such a young age too.
I won`t get the chance to watch the final but i wish her all the luck in the world, not that she needs it to , she has blown everyone out of the water apparently.

As for Bruceless and his presser, you can shove it where the sun don`t shine. i`ve got far more interesting things to do than listen to that balloon mumbling on in his false Geordie ascent, ile try some much needed kip

If Wilson is out injured, do we think it’ll be Gayle or Joe up top alongside ASM? I think it’ll probably be Joe but he may just surprise us all and play ASM up top on his own in a false 9. Maybe with 3 false 10’s behind him and 2 false 5’s in the middle of the park.
