It’s All About One Man In Pundit’s Latest Newcastle Prediction

BBC pundit Mark Lawrenson has made his predictions for this weekend’s Premier League matches. He has Newcastle United getting whacked 3-0 at Manchester United on Saturday.

Here is what he wrote about the match:

Newcastle badly need a win, but Old Trafford, on the day Ronaldo makes his return, is not the time or place for them to get it.

There is no doubt Ronaldo’s arrival has improved Manchester United. In terms of what he brings to the team, well, he won’t be chasing full-backs down, will he?

It will be a case of ‘you stay up there, we will get the ball to you’. It is pretty basic, but why wouldn’t you do that with Ronaldo in your side, when he is so good in the air?

If he gets the service you’d expect him to from the players behind him, he is going to score plenty – and he’ll probably be taking every penalty, free-kick, and even the throw-ins and goal-kicks too.

Well, we can expect much more of this type of salivating over the next couple of days. Lawro has basically only written about the return of Ronaldo with just a mention of Newcastle needing a win.

Newcastle are just an afterthought for tomorrow’s match as all eyes are focused on the world-class Portuguese forward. Though not many will argue with Lawrenson’s prediction of a 3-0 win for The Red Devils at Old Trafford.

Man United have seven points from their first three matches to Newcastle’s one. They return home after two away matches where they picked up a draw and a win. They hammered Leeds 5-1 on the opening weekend at home.

Newcastle have limped out of the gate in the early goings with three straight defeats, including the Carabao Cup, and a disappointing draw against Southampton. While The Magpies took the lead twice against the Saints at St. James’ Park, we couldn’t hold it and really didn’t deserve much more than the point.

Our defending has been woeful and it looks like Callum Wilson will be sidelined with a thigh injury for tomorrow. We’ll find out more from Steve Bruce during his press conference this morning.

It’s all lining up for a lopsided defeat against The Red Devils. However, the lads can play the spoilers in Ronaldo’s return. That could provide some motivation but they’ll have to put in some performance to pick up a result on Saturday.

I don’t know about anyone else but I would kind of preer it if the media just referred to us as the opposition. Just get the game over and done with as soon as possible, move on to the next. Apparently Leeds have conceded the most shots on goal (knocking us off top spot) and have the worst number of shots on target.

If rumors are true about Bruce’s 3 year deal, that just renews every year, effectively giving him a job for life, presumably on the proviso that he knows it’s only ever gonna be money in money out, and the club will not strive for excellence, then he certainly does deserve what’s coming, because that is effectively being complicit in what the fan base so vigorously objects to.

I don’t think he was complicit in the final day. I think he wanted more and pushed for more. I’m not sure if he fully has been aware of what Ashley is like. But if he now just appears to have meekly accepted what happened when asked about it in the Man U presser, then he can have no complaints at all if the crowd goes for him.

It’s a big press conference for him, and I hope he recognizes it.

He’s essentially said he wanted to bring in one or two but it is what it is. That the statement outlines clearly the club policy and that he’ll always try to improve the squad but it is what it is and he has to move on.

already said. we cannot depend on calum wilson for survival as both he and ASM are made of glass.

i’d be very surprised if both of them even make it to 20 premier league starts this season.

Yeah, he’s in trouble. That’s not good enough is it? Fans surely won’t stand for a manager that so easily accepts the status quo, which essentially amounts to no more than making up the numbers. Unless the side somehow starts to click, I’d say he’ll be lucky to last ten more games.

The fat git was complicit from day 1! Applying for the job was a death knell for NUFC..

    Only 2 weeks to go..

Til I return from Lanzarote that is, then it’s only 3 days from the CAT case decision, (whether it goes ahead of course)..
