Premier League Manager With Ties To Graeme Jones In The Frame To Replace Steve Bruce

In an exclusive Friday night in The Sun, Amanda Staveley spoke about the dire need of upgrading the infrastructure at Newcastle United. She called the training ground ‘really awful’ while The Sun’s correspondent, Oscar Paul, added that many Championship clubs would be embarrassed by it.

Improving the training ground, something former manager Rafa Benitez implored Mike Ashley to do, is an area of utmost concern to the new board. That is something they can plan to address almost immediately though it will take time to complete.

The board can also draw up a list of January targets. Staveley said in her interview the club could soon attract world-class players. However, she tied that into improving the facilities, which will be a longer-term proposition.

For the next transfer window, Newcastle appear to be targeting players on expiring contracts with Premier League experience. Burnley defender James Tarkowski and Manchester United forward Jesse Lingard are two players Newcastle are targeting according to The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards.

Edwards also reported that the new owners feel the squad is lacking in all areas of the pitch. He stated as many as five players could be added in January. That would cause some serious turnover with Newcastle’s squad already full.

While adding to the squad will have to wait until January and improving the training ground will take some time, an immediate change that could be coming is at manager. A few reports have claimed that Steve Bruce will be replaced before our next match against Tottenham in a week on Sunday.

There have been plenty of speculation as to who the next Magpie manager will be. Tucked away in Oscar Paul’s exclusive in The Sun was a blurb about Brighton manager Graham Potter. Paul stated that the 46-year-old is in the frame after impressing with Brighton this season.

The Seagulls are in 6th place in the league having only lost once all season. That was a 2-0 defeat at home to Rafa Benitez’s Everton. They also have won both of their Carabao Cup fixtures.

Potter has done extremely well at Brighton and could be one to watch. He plays a very attractive brand of football and could truly shine with an improved squad.

He has also worked his way up from obscurity having started his managerial career with Östersund, who were in the fourth tier of Swedish football when he was appointed.

It was Newcastle assistant coach Graeme Jones, a former teammate of Potter at Boston United, who recommended him to Östersund’s then-chairman Daniel Kindberg in 2010.

It paid massive dividends as Potter guided them up the leagues to Sweden’s first division, the Allsvenskan, for the first time in their history in 2015. They reached the Europa League in 2017 after winning a domestic cup.

His success in Sweden landed him at Swansea City in 2018 before he replaced Chris Hughton at Brighton a year later. He’s now reportedly being considered as the manager to get Newcastle’s revolution underway.

Bruce pretending like he knows what he’s doing on a training pitch. Get sacked now! And you can keep the ball you’ve got stuffed up your tracky top.

Magic, I’m on my way up to Ard Mhacha!

No mate, haven’t got the big audi yet but should see it in a week. Its lovely, definitely has a sporty edge. Agree with Ledge earlier about the A6, seems a lovely car. Bmw 5 series seem to be everywhere but many I looked at were in rag order. I’ve investigated the cars history well, and am hoping for better luck than my Mazda 6 gave me. But yes, nice car, really threw it around when I test drove it and it responded well. Lovely sports trim, especially the steering wheel. I’ve only ever owned Japanese cars so it will be a change. My mechanic is an audi specialist so he was very encouraging. I was pootling home from football, knackered earlier, and one rocketed past me. I was impressed 🙂

I like the idea of a Keegan/Jones managerial partnership. Jones organises the football and Keegan gives the inspirational pep talks.

Loved a sentence on HITC earlier when talking about potential transfers. Something like, ‘Newcastle just became the hungriest animal in the food chain’

    magicmac54,
If I do and that’s a big if, I’ll be going halves with my mate but if we’re both away I’ll most definitely pencil you in for a game. My mate’s rota is set in stone and hopefully mine will be more regular when they increase the bed space soon.

Hopefully the club is wise to look for players with release clauses to avoid overpaying but we also need Premiership experience to stabilise us

Tarkowski is essential him and a fully fit Lascalles would be rock solid or we could also try sign Lewis Dunk for a power combo

Ward Prowse has a release clause through his new Southampton contract we should get him he is a massive Shelvey upgrade

Get Traore from Wolves to replace Krafth in the squad

Trippier from Atletico Northern lad would sort our right back out

Those 4 could provide a quality core for then buying foreign players in

    Amanda’s not daft.
The new Manager will have to have enough seniority and earned respect to attract players of the calibre we need.

    Potter is not that Man.
    Rafa is yesterday’s man.
Gerrard is a future could be man, for Liverpool.
Jose Mourinho is the could have been man.

    Rodgers might fit the bill.
Conte seems to meet the needs of players, club and fans.

That’s a good idea, Keegan and Shearer mucking in with Jones until January and then review. Build up the war chest for summer splurge by going for loans and players nearing end of contracts.
Ambassadorial roles for Shearer and Keegan when club is safe from relegation and both involved in selecting DOF and Head coach for the following season.

Tarkowski is a good choice. Dyche might not want to lose him, but Burnley’s new owners might take a decent size bid and you would think the player would want to be part of the start of this journey.
