Premier League Manager With Ties To Graeme Jones In The Frame To Replace Steve Bruce

In an exclusive Friday night in The Sun, Amanda Staveley spoke about the dire need of upgrading the infrastructure at Newcastle United. She called the training ground ‘really awful’ while The Sun’s correspondent, Oscar Paul, added that many Championship clubs would be embarrassed by it.

Improving the training ground, something former manager Rafa Benitez implored Mike Ashley to do, is an area of utmost concern to the new board. That is something they can plan to address almost immediately though it will take time to complete.

The board can also draw up a list of January targets. Staveley said in her interview the club could soon attract world-class players. However, she tied that into improving the facilities, which will be a longer-term proposition.

For the next transfer window, Newcastle appear to be targeting players on expiring contracts with Premier League experience. Burnley defender James Tarkowski and Manchester United forward Jesse Lingard are two players Newcastle are targeting according to The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards.

Edwards also reported that the new owners feel the squad is lacking in all areas of the pitch. He stated as many as five players could be added in January. That would cause some serious turnover with Newcastle’s squad already full.

While adding to the squad will have to wait until January and improving the training ground will take some time, an immediate change that could be coming is at manager. A few reports have claimed that Steve Bruce will be replaced before our next match against Tottenham in a week on Sunday.

There have been plenty of speculation as to who the next Magpie manager will be. Tucked away in Oscar Paul’s exclusive in The Sun was a blurb about Brighton manager Graham Potter. Paul stated that the 46-year-old is in the frame after impressing with Brighton this season.

The Seagulls are in 6th place in the league having only lost once all season. That was a 2-0 defeat at home to Rafa Benitez’s Everton. They also have won both of their Carabao Cup fixtures.

Potter has done extremely well at Brighton and could be one to watch. He plays a very attractive brand of football and could truly shine with an improved squad.

He has also worked his way up from obscurity having started his managerial career with Östersund, who were in the fourth tier of Swedish football when he was appointed.

It was Newcastle assistant coach Graeme Jones, a former teammate of Potter at Boston United, who recommended him to Östersund’s then-chairman Daniel Kindberg in 2010.

It paid massive dividends as Potter guided them up the leagues to Sweden’s first division, the Allsvenskan, for the first time in their history in 2015. They reached the Europa League in 2017 after winning a domestic cup.

His success in Sweden landed him at Swansea City in 2018 before he replaced Chris Hughton at Brighton a year later. He’s now reportedly being considered as the manager to get Newcastle’s revolution underway.

Next announcement is going to be the big one.

    Can’t wait.

Strange having total trust in the owners for the 1st time in virtually the entire time I’ve followed the Toon since 1957.

Sir John did a few good things, but selling to Ashley was unforgivable. Blotted his copy book with that one.

I think Jones will have at least a few weeks in the hot seat while talks and plans go on.

Could very well buy himself time till January or what not with good performances.

So….. the newly crowned ‘richest football club in the world’ is going to appoint the manager of Brighton to direct the NUFC regeneration.

We are supposed to be ‘deluded’

At least, give Pep a chance of first refusal… just sayin’.

As long as Bruce is gone, I’ll live with that.

The combination of new owners, Bruce gone, full house etc. should be enough to drive team onto a few good wins.

Someone said Lingard was “useless” and has only ever had “half a good season”

lingard scored an fa cup final goal 5 seasons ago, was part of the England 11 that made it to the semies of the world cup 3 seasons ago and was the best player in the league second part of last season

They say he’s only an england international because he plays for ManU
Of course this moron did not bother to ask himself *why* Lingard plays for ManU? Out of all the players in the world, why have ManU had Lingard in the first team squad for 8 years?

How can any nufc fan reject a player of that calibre but champion medicority personifiied like Fraser and Takowski? Rhetorical question I know whats going on lol

This Just shows why owners, managers and leaders in general should never listen to fans or the public when making personnel-related decisions
So many fans are myopic, bigoted and illiterate. Incapable of critical thought and so intellectually dishonest they’d make any stupid arguments to justify/mask their bias

I’m just glad the Amanda and co entrust the club into the hands of a forward thinking cosmopolitan manager/Dof who tunes out the opinions of dumb supporters like these

We need to hire a capable

Someone said Lingard was “useless” and has only ever had “half a good season”. in fact Lingard has been a top player for the better part of 6 seasons and only had one bad season (the one right after the world cup) which he bounced back from

He scored an fa cup final goal 5 seasons ago, was part of the England 11 that made it to the semies of the world cup 3 seasons ago and was the best player in the league second part of last season.

This is going to sound horrible but, I think we’ve a decent chance to get our 1st win against Spurs due to all the factors I mentioned. I would be very disappointed if Bruce was still around to take any credit for it, because I don’t think he deserves that opportunity after the way he’s treated the fans and particularly the way he’s run down the club at every opportunity.

He can’t call every club but us “big” or “big, big”, or “big gigantic” now that we’re the biggest on the planet!!!

Unbelievable this, going on about RB as the next manager , even now. He is history for us with a lucritive contract at Everton.
Under the new circumstances i want a man who can give us exciting football and a team that will be good to watch.
Snore snore Benitez is not what we want.
Nagelsman was my choice 18 months ago but he is a no go. RB would be my 8th choice atm.

I just hope this blog doesnt become a dumping ground for these cheap rumours

They may have had years of success under Alex Ferguson

But now at Man Usedtobe they’re on fire with jealously and the funniest thing is that it’s Ashley who’s p&ssed on them to put the flames out.

Not one of them, no fan, no journo has any idea what it means to be part of Newcastle.
A few Scousers might, but that’s about it.
    The rest are tourists.

I think there may be some truth to the story but i’m not holding my breath
He turned down a contract offer with ManU presumably because he doesnt want to play second fiddle to Fernandes

But joining us now MAY rule out winning any trophies for rest of his club career. Ultimately it will depend on who else comes in for him in January

The point is I dont see how anyone can objectively call such a player “useless”. thats just dishonest
