New Owners To Begin Search For Manager, Chief Executive, And Sporting Director

There is yet another article out claiming that Steve Bruce will be let go ahead of our next match against Tottenham next Sunday. The latest comes from Jason Burt in the The Telegraph. It was Burt’s colleague, Luke Edwards, who got an exclusive interview with Bruce on the night of the takeover’s completion.

During that interview, Bruce admitted the new owners would likely want to appoint their own manager to ‘launch things for them.’ Though he did express his desire to continue on and show them what he could do.

However, Bruce is one match short of 1,000 games managed and likely doesn’t have anything to offer that he hasn’t already shown over his long career. His days appear to be numbered and he will almost certainly leave Newcastle sometime next week.

Bruce and the players return for training on Monday after having the last three days off. Bruce is expected to meet with the new owners this week. If he is sacked, Graeme Jones is expected to remain on board as caretaker manager.

It has been previously reported that Frank McParland will lead the search for a new manager. The former Liverpool Academy Manager is filling an advisory role which is expected to become formal.

The Telegraph has added that PIF Governor Yasir Al-Rumayyan, who is now a non-executive chairman at Newcastle, will help make the decision on Bruce’s successor. Newcastle are also searching for a chief executive and a sporting director, with the highly-respected Ralf Rangnick (shown above) in contention for the latter role.

Rangnick is currently the Head of Sports and Development with Russian club Lokomotiv Moscow. He previously served in the same role for the company Red Bull, which owns RB Leipzig, RB Salsburg, and New York Red Bulls.

The German has managed numerous Bundesliga clubs as well as being the Sporting Director for RB Salzburg and RB Leipzig. One potential stumbling block on his appointment is that he just joined Lokomotiv Moscow on a three-year contract in July.

While Bruce’s tenure at Newcastle looks to be coming to an end, former managing director Lee Charnley is set to stay on for slightly longer than originally anticipated. The Mail is reporting that Charnley’s inside knowledge of the club has been an asset to the new owners.

Evening mate, if we get 3 quality players in January i hope its a central defender, and midfielder, and another quality striker, in my opinion those three positions should be first priority mate.

I’ve been saying favre is still available for months now. Delighted if he gets it. Someone who will the squad in training every day, sometimes twice a day. The polar opposite of the rotund lazy fraud that is bruce.

Evening mate. I would agree on that.

    Koulibaly
    Ward Prowse
    Lautaro Martinez 😎

I do think we will sign more than that during the window tho but I do believe they will want players brought in as early as possible.

Better to let those with misgivings about Saudi ownership simply have their say if they wish I think.

Certain elements of the way the Kingdom is run, its authoritarian nature, inequalities, repressions etc, are, by Western standards undeniably deplorable.

It is happening though, the “negatives” don’t tell the whole story of Saudi culture and society, far from it, the club and region will benefit enormously, and vision 2030 is purportedly about forging a more moderate Islamic state.

Better to let people wrestle with this in their own way and in their own time I think.

I dont lost here often but those who can trace posts will see.

I said Lucian favre at the start of this year and was shot down, also told of carrols retirement in the summer before he finally confirmed it and said longstaffs away if bruce stays as hated him and low and behold matty went on loan and sean nearly went to.

Im so chuffed this takeover went through, about time we were in the position to compete again.
For those of you home owners then expect your houses to go up in value to as the saudies/ruebens are going to invest in the local area to, bring with that the extra tourism brought by fans abroad and the whole of the north east will benefit..
Not to piss on safc parade of trying to win L1 but the rumour this morning is Mikey boy wants to buy them ??… get them upto the prem is a good thing, the tyne wear derbies will be a walk in the park though

No pal I watched it this morning when I got up.

    Watched it twice now.

Great fight but it was over from the 6th.

Wilder could barely defend himself and was running on fumes.

Fury wasn’t at his best but still had far too much for Wilder.

Very disappointed he told Fury he had no respect for him and wouldn’t shake his hand.

He got beat and schooled fair and square in three fights, hopefully that’s him retired!

I’m very calm about the whole thing…Amanda and her husband already run billion dollar turnover business’ and operate several investment funds. Whilst it’s worth noting MA also ran a very big business, he only bought Newcastle United to promote the Sports Direct brand via the global TV coverage of the premiership with no intentions of building a team to compete at the highest level …whereas Amanda et al’s primary motivation is to develop the club and create a team that will compete at the very highest level.

Everything Amanda does going forward will be to develop the team whereas Ashleys intention was only ever to develop the brand. It’s now Fraser Group anyway and his company is worth a couple of billion again with massive global footprint and reach…so it’s job done from his perspective anyway and the timing was perfect for him to move on…so all it needed was the pressure MA put on the premier league for foul play, and for Saudi Arabia to resolve the premiership distribution rights with Qatar…and here we are!

All gravy lads…it’s gonna be loads of fun and I have every faith.

    Ralph and Lucien excite me.

I’ve said since the first mention of middle-east ownership I wanna see us build something sustainable rather than buy a league. Ralph has done that. And Lucien is a decent coach that plays good football that isnt “above us”.

I dont want us turned into some Barca/Real 5h!t show. We need to be patient and play the long game. 190m transfer kitty sounds great but it can be easily squandered. No point convincing a ready built superstar to front a team of average players.

Conte is a one night stand at best. He’d leave the club worse off for coming once he either gets the notch on his bedpost or more likely in our case gets bored.

This is why Rafa was perfect for us. But let us let that ship sail. He’s got a project going at Everton and best of luck to him.

Even with mega-wealthy owners, we cant expect them to simply bankroll us (and what happens when they decide to stop doing so). We still need to build and act smart. Uncover young talent, develop, sell for a profit. I see this working more like we might finally get those targets “over the line”

Let’s think about all the missed signings we had over the years that could be done now because of finances and ambition that wouldve taken us forward (Giroud, Lacazette, Gameiro, Modric, Remy, Alli, Dier just a few that we were linked with but couldnt execute). If we finish 7th next season we should be celebrating it like a trophy for us given the last decade. Just hope fans dont suddenly expect a title or CL immediately. You have to earn it in the PL. Man City took years to build and they currently have the greatest coach in the game as well as smart signing policies (contrary to belief they just throw money about). Liverpool is the same, it took them years to get back to where they are and everything fell in place for them.

If Favre doesn’t like ASM, how come he allegedly wanted to sign him two and a half years ago for Dortmund from Nice?

Favre is still my first choice for manager. He’s a man with a plan and can steady the ship with what we already have and then start to move us forward in January with some quality and smart signings.

A nice strong spine down the middle of the pitch with a solid CB, a ball winning CM and a striker who knows where the net is will sort us out and hopefully keep us up this year.

To be honest with Ralph history, pairing him with Graeme Jones for the remainder of the season could be a shout. Ralph can coach Jones and step closer or further from day-to-day team activities as he sees necessary.

Graeme is a geordie dont forget. And the way results up ticked last season after his arrival says to me he has something about him. We look at him as that guy that failed at Luton and worked at Bournemouth, lets not forget hes also worked with the beligian national team and England at the Euros. I’d like to see him kept on at least as a coach.

Rangnick and Conte, if they were to buy in to the Consortium’s vision, would of course be fantastic.

Not sure that Conte wouldn’t. I know he’s an elite coach, but having won so much already, he might be very interested in a longer challenge, trying to emulate what Simeone has done at Atletico for example.

That certainly could be appealing, and Newcastle, well it is really a fantastic club, a special club, so if he knows that, or is amenable to knowing it, then it might just be on.

I really do hope they announce Bruce is gone tomorrow. It’s just absolutely pointless hanging on to him any longer. Jones can sort them out and be in the dug out on Sunday.

I’ve said before on here I know a few people involved with the club. I never get inside info on signings etc as they don’t even know.

But one thing they all tell me is how little respect Bruce has from anyone at the club. Rafa used to watch the u21s a few times a week and Bruce has never been to watch them once. He’s just a useless excuse for a manager and should never have been appointed. It’s baffling how he hit the job. What a waste!

Bloody hell, I can now talk about the potential choices that the club faces rather than the abject failure. IMO when a Director of Football is appointed the direction of the club will be cement. Either a policy of buying experienced players or young and up and coming players, with a manager that is best fit for each of those options.

Hes had his stint. We move on.

Lewis had a mare for NI. Sent off on 37min. One card was for time wasting over a throw in…

    Quite the stupid act.

Mistakes like that tend to be remembered….. shame as I still hope he can turn it around and become a better player. A better manager would be a great thing to do 😆

Magic, tks for that. Munster were utterly Magnificent today. I am so proud of munster rugby, and the love of the sport that we have in limerick. We went a very young second/third string team over and took on a strong Llanelli Scarlets team and beat them in every way, even in the aggro flashpoints. It was one of the best performances I’ve seen in years and years. Thrilled to bits. If my wife wud just go to bed early I can watch it again!

Did you watch the NI game? It’s true that they were trying to slow the game down with a bit of time wasting, but Lewis didn’t get a first warning from the ref to hurry it up for his throw. That’s what normally happens in that situation. The ref in that game was poor.
