Local Journalist Doesn’t Expect A Decision On Steve Bruce Today

Steve Bruce and the players return to training today to prepare for the match against Tottenham next Sunday. It has been widely speculated that Steve Bruce will not be on the touchline for the match.

Numerous outlets are reporting that Steve Bruce is due to meet with the new owners this week. It is expected that he will be relieved of his duties with assistant coach Graeme Jones installed as the caretaker manager.

However, it may not be as cut and dry as is being reported. George Caulkin of The Athletic is reporting that the official line from the new owners is that a decision has not yet been made on Bruce’s future. However, Caulkin believes Bruce will be let go but probably not today.

Here is a tweet from Caulkin explaining what he’s hearing from St. James’ Park.

The new owners are probably edging towards firing Bruce, as Caulkin asserts. However, these are professionals and will not want Bruce to hear of his sacking through the press.

There have been so many headlines over the weekend of his imminent sacking, so it has grown into an awkward situation. However, if Graeme Jones is to take charge of Spurs, the plan may be to wait a few days before letting Bruce go as the assistant coach generally plays a significant role in the training sessions.

There’s always the chance, albeit a slim one, that Bruce impresses in his meeting and they decide to give him a few games to turn it around. That would not be popular with a section of the fanbase who want a clean break from the Ashley era.

However, the players may be inspired to fight for their head coach and get some much-needed wins. It’s an unlikely scenario at this point, but we should find out what the new owners’ decision is in the next few days.

Tom, they’re easily peeled off with a bit of steam and patience.

Leicester owners used to make big gestures like that, don’t know whether these guys will or not.

To my mind if he is getting sacked before the Spurs game there is not a single reason for it not to be today.

It’s the consortium’s first litmus test.

Dilly dally on this and they go from 100% confidence down to 99.5% for me!

How do you all feel with a new state of the art stadium callled the Aramco Stadium? I would be sad to see us leave St James’ but it would need too much work to dix it up and larger. Maybe St James’ could be our main training ground with our new stadium built close by??

JP from the Rock, St James will not become a training ground, the footprint is not big enough.

These new training complexes have multiple pitches, indoor pitches, outdoor pitches, gyms, therapy areas, probably all the offices etc.

I’m not sure where the ladies train now, but I would be surprised if they weren’t also included in the new complex.

    catchy,
Bruce has served up some of the worst football ever witnessed at SJP before Jones turned up. You bigged him up something rotten when he first got here, just as you did with Mclaren. How come we never hear you complaining about his football, it’s because you have got the grace to admit you’re wrong. You just find it easier to leave the blog for .oaths at a time.

Those that say Raffa (catchy etc)was too defensive must surely realise that Raffa had no choice as in not being backed he had to get the defence right as the priority. I have no doubt if he had been given the backing his next step would have been to build the attack but he was never given a proper budget to build it. He is history now but I honestly feel with the budget we have now he would have got it right. He got Newcastle in every way just wasn’t given the funds

I know with FFP selling the naming rights to the stadium can help balance the books. So I would be very surprised if it was not changed at some stage.

If the case is we are doing it so we can sign more players and challenge for trophies I don’t see many objections to it from fans.

It’s not done out of poor greed like the previous name change.

If NUFC go for Rangnick for DoF – this will mean that it will not be Favre for head coach as they have incompatible football philosophies.

I would prefer NUFC to go for Rangnick as he has experience of completely reorganizing a football club. If Rangnick is appointed he will select the coach.

This could mean a coach he has worked with in the past – Hasenhuttl has worked with Rangnick in the past. Could Hasenhuttl be an option?
Southampton could let Hasenhuttl go and replace with Eddie Howe.

What are peoples thoughts about this possible scenario?

Catchy I think is 100% right in this instance, but calling the people who aren’t as sure deluded wasn’t the way to go. I’d suggest you relax with that kind of attitude and try to make friends on here with people instead of alienating everyone just to show you’re right.

As Mund said its a new era and its time for a change that means all of us on here as well catchy. The fighting and one-upmanship has to stop, if it doesn’t now it never will and I think most people’s lives are better off without that in their lives.

    JP…from The Rock, Tinman

Iff we do leave SJP, there is a deed of covenant on the land which does state that it must be used for sprting / recreational pursuits. When SJH wanted to develop Castle Leazes, he did put in plans to convert SJP to a 20,000 capacity stadium for use of basketball / ice hockey purposes.

If it comes to a move, i must admit my money is on either Castle Leazes only a small way up Barack Road or possibly the site of the Arena (+ surrounding land) which is only the other end of St James Boulevard.

It keeps the club firmly in the city and still anchored to SJP to some extent

TCPN, I have no doubts we could fill a stadium that size over the next few years.

But once we are at the top, challenging for things, suddenly a home game against Crystal Palace or Brentford doesn’t seem to have that shine anymore and you’d expect attendances to drop dramatically.

Also, top teams are in a lot of competitions. They end up playing twice a week nearly all season due to Champions League and deep Cup runs. It’s a lot to ask for that many people to turn up midweek and weekends for the whole season.

I think there is a reason why most new stadiums are built in the 60-80k range and I’m sure they have plenty of data to back it up why.

With our historically strong attendances I think something 80-100k would be appropriate. But that is based purely on my guesswork.

I’m curious how much safe standing could increase the attendance by. Also whether a stand completely built to take advantage of safe standing would have a greater capacity than a seating stand being converted to standing.

I would love for you to prove any of what you think i said as correct.

i know its nice to just cherry pick what you think i said, or take what others have said i have said.

everything i have ever said is on here, i have never changed my opinions on anything i thought about Shteve, i think he is a good coach, he is a proving good coach, but is he Jose or SBR KK or SAF, definitely not.

I think what you will also find at the time of us getting Rafa, I was over the moon with his appointment, I felt he was unlucky to not save us from the drop, very happy he won the championship, which he should have done given his squad value in comparison to other teams in the league. my eyes were opened to him in the prem, he is a one of the worst coaches we have hadhe did not justify his salary, i find very little difference between how we set up now or with him then, i thought he wasted a lot of money on very poor players.

anyway the future is different, we can dare to dream now.
