Staveley Has Concluded 90 Minute Meeting With Players And Coaching Staff

Amanda Staveley has met with Newcastle’s coaching staff and playing squad at the training ground. Sky Sports’ Keith Downie is reporting the meeting lasted 90 minutes and Staveley has since left the ground.

This meeting served as an introduction to the players and coaching staff as they begin their preparations for the Spurs match on Sunday. It’s an important match as everyone involved with the club will want to get the new era started with a win at St. James’ Park.

It has been widely speculated that Bruce will not remain head coach much longer. George Caulkin reported earlier this morning that a decision on Bruce’s future is unlikely to become public today.

Staveley is very professional and will treat Bruce with respect and dignity. It would be a bit harsh to sack him right after a 90-minute introduction with the players and coaching staff.

The new owners are also playing catchup with their plans for the club. The sale happened abruptly last week after over a year of delays and legal wrangling. It wasn’t expected to be resolved until an arbitration hearing in January.

In addition to a new manager, the club is reportedly on the hunt for a chief executive and a sporting director. It could be that no decision is made on Bruce until those positions have been filled.

That still remains an unlikely scenario with most believing Bruce will be let go this week before the Spurs match. If that is the case, the new board are making sure it is done with class and respect.

Hibbit: Sandy Lane is an excellent shout for thet training centre. Newly upgraded road infrastructure + Reubens ownership + need for a fast move on this.

Still dobtful about Leazes Terrace. It is not just the front but the side and back too i.e. those that face the tennis courts and I belive that that side is mostly privately owned and not univsersity. However as you allude, where there is a will (and money) there’ll be a way

Martoon, I think most of us thought they would be there this morning and have only just been made aware that they arrived at lunch time from the report in the last article.

I said this morning I hope he is gone by dinner time but like the fact that they are waiting to do it face to face.

Pretty disappointed to see that it appears she has left and he is still there. In my opinion there is no reason for him still to be there and strongly disagree with Neil’s comments on it being a bit harsh.

Get rid of him, get rid of the negativity, stop the rot – ASAP

Kamara: he already said no to NUFC. So if he come, will be only for big money… By the way, you can have far better now. Who care about Kamara when Chelsea say they could sell Kanté?

Garcia: For Christ Sake, no! Honnestly… long to explain, but he clearly got a low rating now in France.

Jardim: Well, probably better than Garcia, but such a booring play to watch…

Campos: well, look like an efficient guy, but i’m extremely distrustfull about everything done in Monaco about business. The management there was quite… exotic. With some dark sides…

Anyway, Campos speciality in to bring in some exciting gifted youngsters and to sell them for an indecent amount of money.

So perhaps not the needed profile right now.

Pleased that no knee jerk decisions being made, as much as fans are desperate to see action. Important in my view that DofF brought in first, who can help appoint a new manager. Bruce may be in post for a few more weeks. I will not lose any sleep if that is the case, and will not be booing him on Sunday if he’s still in the dugout.

Get rid. Let Jones take temporary charge. Bruce remaining for any amount of games will just breathe negativity into what should be a 100% positive environment and atmosphere. He needs to go.

Bruce better not be here on Sunday.

Hope this was just an initial introduction. 90mins isn’t a long time to have a chat with everybody, so I imagine it was Amanda getting a feeling for the situation. Hopefully a quiet word with Bruce tomorrow after consulting the other partners.

onmeedsun, why stick with a dead man walking who has no future at the club? It makes no sense. You’ve got Jones right there who by all accounts is a highly regarded coach and seems to be respected by the players. Bruce adds absolutely no value to the cause, get rid now.

100% agree that we need to take our time with the team we bring in. DOF might well be the most important position of the lot over the next few years.

As for the manager I would prefer we get someone in sooner rather than later to help get plans in place and start next year flying, but if the right man is not available I would more than happily accept an interim placement until the Summer.

    Thanks for your thoughts.

I thought Garcia has a good managerial record but it sounds like there is issues related to him.

Luis Campos – could be a good choice for DoF – bringing in exciting youngsters would be good for NUFC

Jardim – didn’t realise his style of play is boring

Any suggestions for manager or DoF?

It’s not the Bruce adds nothing, he is a net negative.

Depressing, self-victimising, dour soul who if we go a goal or two down on Sunday will become the target of all the energy in the stadium, spoiling the day.

I don’t want to have to hear his strained, unnatural attempt to sound upbeat and enthusiastic in the pre-match presser.

Would be a bad start sticking with Bruce

I just can’t see it myself. Staveley said this club belongs to the fans and also said they have kept up to date with the feelings around social media. If that’s correct she will know exactly how we feel and most important of all this is a new era, a new dawn, a new start.

I truly expect come Sunday Bruce will be nowhere near the dugout or this football club.

Apart from the reasons already given about Bruce going, I don’t think the dynamic between Bruce and Jones is working and at times they seem to be working at cross purposes so it’s probably better just to have Jones there on Sunday.

The priority was Cashley, once his replacement is found it will be Bruce. Graham experience as manager is not great and with the Bruce media loving, it will be seen our new owners are not competent without a replacement in the wings. No one wake up me from this fantastic dream ?.

    A few thoughts.

Expanding the stadium would be a lower priority to me at first. With the importance of broadcasting revenues and corporate partnerships, expanding the ground by ~10,000 doesn’t have the immediate payback that the other aspects do.

However, updating and modernizing the stadium, beyond the needed repairs should be a priority.

In regards to FFP, cynicism aside, investment into the infrastructure of the club do not count. So any investment into the stadium, training ground, academy, physio & fitness, any other facilities are exempt. FFP is basically just about operating costs vs revenues – so transfer fees and wages and other day to day costs. So the new owners can throw whatever they want on the new training ground, stadium etc. and not a penny would count against FFP.

    @Lovem Hatem

To be fair, Campos really got impressive results. He’s famous for his network of scouts.

But if really NUFC got sur a lot of money to spend, the role is probably more political and diplomatic rather than about scouting.

If you could pay the best players in the world, you don’t need much scouting, we all know them.

To bring them in ( and to be sure they are still top players and not a former glory ) is the real difficulty.

And for Garcia… well honnestly, booring as well, he had some results in Cups ( including CPL ), but was totaly unable to have results on a long run, he was in trouble with any dressing room he frequented and he also have this bad habit to never be responsible of anything in his opinion. His press conference are infamous about that…

    So, who?

Honnestly, i don’t know, anyway, not much than anyone here. As said before, my area of knowledge is french football and la ligue 1 is famous for his lack of good Manager or Dof…

I actually think that there is an argument Bruce will be in charge of Sundays game, I think he himself knows he is out, but would ask for his 1000th game to be at his home town club, I think she is classy enough to grant him that, so he can thank you to the fans.
One more game is not going to change anyone’s mind on his future.

I think there is enough fans out there that would grant him that wish too.

At the end of the day he is a nufc fan just like me and I’m sure he only wants the best for the club too

Bruce wanting his 1000th game as his primary consideration would be the definition of self-interest above the club’s interest.

It’s a meaningless number with only relevance to him, 3pts is not.

Last time I checked the real world is brutal. I don’t think it’s delusional at all to expect him to be sacked today.

I’m pretty sure there’s a side room or office at the training ground where it could be done professionally.

You don’t think in the real world when businesses are taken over people don’t get their marching orders the next day? In a side room / meeting room in an office where everyone else at work knows exactly what is going on?

Just because you disagree with people’s opinion doesn’t mean the rest of us are not living in the real world

PCP, PIF and the Reubens are all strong business people. If they feel Bruce isn’t up to the job, he’ll be gone. Sentimental value in letting him have his 1000th game won’t come into it. They won’t have got to the positions they’re in today by delaying decisions due to sentimental reasons or because ‘it’ll be nice for him’.

If they deem him not good enough, he’ll be gone.

You’d think if he was really up for his 1000th game and so proud to have it as Newcastle manager, he’d have been on the training ground all weekend with the players who are here, striving for better.

He’s been off since last Thursday and rocked up at 11:30am today. I can kind of understand because at some point when you’re as clueless as he is, you’re just pounding dirt and have no fresh ideas to solve any of the problems.

For those asking about Favre. He has 2 massive negatives which is why he is far down the list

    – Doesn’t speak a word of English
    – He is 63.

He doesn’t have the energy they are looking for.

100% not true at all. Favre speaks English perfectly well. Not sure where you’re getting any of your information from. Makes me wonder about the rest of the stuff you’ve posted today.
