Newcastle United have released a video of today’s training session on their YouTube channel. Both Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi attended the session after their introductory meeting with the players and coaching staff.
It’s very encouraging to see that a few of our injured stars were involved. Callum Wilson, Jamaal Lascelles, and Martin Dubravka were all spotted taking part in the training drills. Joe Willock seems to have shaken off his knock against Wolves and was also involved.
Wilson has missed our last four matches after starting the campaign with 2 goals in 3 matches. He suffered a thigh injury in the draw against Southampton prior to the first international break.
Dubravka has yet to feature this season after undergoing foot surgery in the summer. He returned to light duty a few weeks ago while Jamaal Lascelles has missed the last two matches with a thigh injury.
Jonjo Shelvey was not involved in the session as he has started tonight’s Premier League Cup tie against Birmingham for the U23s. The 29-year-old has been out with a calf injury and has not featured since our opening day defeat against West Ham.
? ????-???? ?
Jonjo Shelvey starts for #NUFC U23s ahead of tonight's #PLCup tie against Birmingham City.
Kick-off at Whitley Park is at 7pm (BST).

Head coach Steve Bruce was not shown in either of the videos released by the club today amidst heavy speculation that his days on Tyneside are numbered. Sky Sports released footage of the 60-year-old leaving the ground after training. They are reporting that Bruce has met with Amanda Staveley today.

The Guardian is reporting that Bruce was close to being let go on Monday. However, Louise Taylor did not provide a reason why he wasn’t in her report.
However, she expects Newcastle to part ways with Bruce before Sunday’s match at St. James’ Park against Tottenham. The consortium is currently drafting a list of candidates which includes Lucien Favre, Brendan Rodgers, Graham Potter, and Steven Gerrard.
Taylor’s report adds Belgium National team manager Roberto Martinez and Ajax’s Erik ten Hag to the growing list of candidates. Luke Edwards had reported earlier on Monday that the new owners were still compiling names and the list has yet to be finalized.

Comment #2I agree with Hibbit, the new owners are well aware of the fan’s views on Bruce and it would be crazy to think they will have him in the dugout on Sunday, spoiling the he party atmosphere.
I fuuly expect to hear he’s gone tomorrow.

Aye, I noticed that as well, think a lot of others have mentioned it also.
They certainly looked happy and they were doing some intensive passing routines, hooray! 🙂

Comment #21From the northern echo:
They are also understood to have spoken to Steve Bruce, although tellingly, none of the video footage released by the club on its official website featured the current Magpies manager.
Bruce’s departure, which will result in a pay-off of around £7m, is expected to be confirmed shortly, with his assistant, Graeme Jones, set to take charge of Sunday’s home game with Tottenham, which will see Newcastle’s new non-executive chairman, Yasir al-Rumayyan, make his first visit to St James’ Park

Nerd alert!!!!!
Sneakers only with 3 quarter length jeans Amanda, or jeans rolled up 3 or 4 inches above the ankle, and absolutely no socks, other than the very very low cut type, if you must.

Comment #30Certainly feel as though Bonna, with the support of a top DOF, would be a reasonable transition initially.
Rangnick and Bonna, you’d have to be happy with that, until a the right manager is found.
Gotta say I do like the idea of Rodgers. He really is top notch, and just about in the right place in his career for it, but you’d surely have to wait till the end of the year to get him, in all fairness to Leicester. So I guess it’s unlikely.

I don’t think we should be going after any manager that requires compo and is prepeared to leave their clubs 8 games in. The money would be better used to persuade Conte and his team.

Comment #37Yup and I bet Rafa is kicking himself in private.
Conte, I just can’t see him at our training ground with those players, in the position we’re in. Think he’s the type to believe he’s done that part of his career now and will just merry-go-round the established top teams.

Comment #38Yeah, Rafa would’ve slotted right in. His football is just a reflection of the players he has to work with at any given time. Nothing much wrong it. Certainly for us, in this first phase.
