Striker Back In Training As Newcastle Release Video Of Monday’s Session

Newcastle United have released a video of today’s training session on their YouTube channel. Both Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi attended the session after their introductory meeting with the players and coaching staff.

It’s very encouraging to see that a few of our injured stars were involved. Callum Wilson, Jamaal Lascelles, and Martin Dubravka were all spotted taking part in the training drills. Joe Willock seems to have shaken off his knock against Wolves and was also involved.

Wilson has missed our last four matches after starting the campaign with 2 goals in 3 matches. He suffered a thigh injury in the draw against Southampton prior to the first international break.

Dubravka has yet to feature this season after undergoing foot surgery in the summer. He returned to light duty a few weeks ago while Jamaal Lascelles has missed the last two matches with a thigh injury.

Jonjo Shelvey was not involved in the session as he has started tonight’s Premier League Cup tie against Birmingham for the U23s. The 29-year-old has been out with a calf injury and has not featured since our opening day defeat against West Ham.

Head coach Steve Bruce was not shown in either of the videos released by the club today amidst heavy speculation that his days on Tyneside are numbered. Sky Sports released footage of the 60-year-old leaving the ground after training. They are reporting that Bruce has met with Amanda Staveley today.

The Guardian is reporting that Bruce was close to being let go on Monday. However, Louise Taylor did not provide a reason why he wasn’t in her report.

However, she expects Newcastle to part ways with Bruce before Sunday’s match at St. James’ Park against Tottenham. The consortium is currently drafting a list of candidates which includes Lucien Favre, Brendan Rodgers, Graham Potter, and Steven Gerrard.

Taylor’s report adds Belgium National team manager Roberto Martinez and Ajax’s Erik ten Hag to the growing list of candidates. Luke Edwards had reported earlier on Monday that the new owners were still compiling names and the list has yet to be finalized.

Bookies are reactive. They shorten and lengthen odds based on money coming in or not, believing whoever is placing the most recent large bets must know something. Rarely do they have any insider info.

Like Might Wyn says, they’ll be making a killing right now.

No idea who it’s going to be.

Here’s a question for everybody. You’re given a free £100 bet on our next manager – where’s your money going? Not who do you want, but who would you currently predict?

For me it would still be Martinez.

Rafa’s “selfless” advice to the owners? You mean selfless in the €10 million a year sense?

How good it feels to know that no team can out pay us. No more do we have to worry that a team may poach one of our star players like ASM for example. If another club comes and offers ASM 100k p/w we can just go and offer him more no problem. The only thing is if the player believes he can achieve more elsewhere. That’s why we need to invest well. In a manager and in January and beyond. We do that and we will be set up for life I think.

They knew Rafa had gone so must have a back up plan

CH was mentioning earlier, my Forest buddy was saying it will be Rogers if Mcparland is the adviser so his new favouritism doesn’t surprise me. He is known for dumping and running so it could happen. I’d imagine he wud be very good although negatives can be thrown at most. Favre was rubbish at the end of his last job apparently. However Favre tends to have immediate impact so it would suit us. I’ve got some manlove going on for Ajax and their boss so he wud be my top choice, then Favre, then Potter then Rogers. No Howe, no Lamps.

Evening All, The blog is real quality now, what a difference a week makes, pre takeover the blog was like the vauxhall conference league, now its the premier league blog with everyone making fantastic contributions all round, keep it up Ladies and Gentlemen so enjoying reading all your posts. I see everyone has opinions about the next manager, i think its so very important to get the first appointment right, my personal feelings as we are sitting 19th in the table is we go with a manager with premier league experience, so from that perspective my two choices would be 1st preference would be Brendan Rodgers, followed by Graham Potter, i dont think to many fans would be to disappointed with any of those two managers. Not sure the favourite always wins in these situations so Rodgers odds are driven by mass hysteria

More likely to be someone with slightly longer odds which is where the clever money will be.

Being clever my £100 is on Martinez, just seems to be right time, right place.

    OP

He has been suspiciously quiet. It’s a growing thought in the back of my mind, but I look at him been out of work for over a decade and think to myself “they wouldn’t, would they?”.

Hell of a risk it would be. Think we’d need a raft of coaching staff with him.

    Lochinvar

Yeah, Martinez seems the most logical to my mind, but who knows the thinking behind the scenes.

I can’t see Rodgers coming at all, Leicester paid one of the highest ever compo for a manager when they paid Celtic £11M for him. He’s since won the FA cup and unless something has happened this season he’s very well thought of there. I don’t think he’s worth paying £20M for.

The thing that bugs me with Potter is he hasn’t got that pull for for foreign players. They will be wondering who the hell is this Potter fella? Is his first name Harry? He doesn’t have the pull of a top reknowned coach. That is key if we want to bring a couple of marquee signings to help us out.

Most fans are thinking KK will be back at the club as an ambassador, me included, but i wouldn`t at all be surprised if Staveley has thought about bringing him in as an interim manager until the end of the season, working with Jones maybe.
Sound silly ? Nothing would surprise me in football. KK has been extremely quiet hasn`t he.

Everything I can find has Rodgers salary on £10m per year until summer 2025 so he’d cost double that with his staff, Raj (feels wrong not calling you Jail).

Shola, thing is KK isn’t really a coach. He’s a motivator and he not a tactician. If Jones or someone can be the tactician, then it could work. But whether Jones has that in his locker, I dunno. Amanda mentioned Shearer and KK but went quiet on KK. I think they will go Jones, get a DOF ASAP and let him decide. The appointment of a manager may not happen quickly if Jones does OK, and the right guy isn’t available till the summer.

I picked KK for all the reasons your saying.

    The place would be bouncing.

Only need him on a short term basis, in reality Jones would be doing most of work.

I’ve absolutely no idea if they’ve even thought of him.

As others say he’s suspiciously quiet.

Shot in the dark but my £100 would be on kk all day.

Evening Jail lad, i trust all is well with you? Lets be honest a week ago not many of us thought we would have new owners this week, Rogers is very ambitious, he has already done an excellent job at Leicester, but Newcastle are in a different stratosphere now so we would be a huge huge attraction for him thats if the new owners were interested in him.
