Poll – How Will Newcastle Begin The New Era Against Tottenham On Sunday?

A new era at Newcastle United began last week with the belated arrival of our ambitious new owners. They’ve been a breath of fresh air compared to the outgoing regime.

We’ve already heard of their ambitious plans to turn Newcastle United into one of the top clubs in the world. However, they have responsibly stressed that it will take a bit of patience to reach the pinnacle of our new journey.

There is plenty of work to be done in building Newcastle into a powerhouse but also in the interim. Newcastle’s dismal start have us in the relegation places and without a win this season.

The journey begins against Tottenham on Sunday at a sold-out St. James’ Park. The place will be absolutely rocking with hopefully more than a few Wor Flags waving. The atmosphere is going to out of this world.

It’s unknown at this point whether Steve Bruce will be on the touchline. He’s surprisingly still kept his position despite reports he would be let go with Graeme Jones taking over as caretaker manager. As of now, he remains the head coach.

On Monday, co-owners Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi met the players and coaching staff. They also took in the afternoon training session which the club released footage of.

The video confirmed that Callum Wilson, Jamaal Lascelles, and Martin Dubravka were back in training. The status of the trio for Sunday is unknown but they are getting very close to a return.

Joe Willock has also shaken off the knock that forced an early exit at Wolves while Jonjo Shelvey got almost 80 minutes under his belt for the U23s last night. The vice-captain hopes to play some part on Sunday.

Spurs have had a tepid start to life under new manager Nuno Espirito Santo. However, they corrected a three-match slide in the league with a win at home over Aston Villa before the break. They are currently 8th in the Premier League.

Went for the win in the poll. Traditionally we’ve been able to ride on emotion around the ground as a club, thinking kks first game when in div 1, when we were trying to get Rafa (and willock for that matter) to stay (Rafa was against spuds aswell) and kks return under the Fatman (v Stoke) …. (How wrong we were that time) …. Hoping for even more on Sunday with the return of wor flags aswell …. should be electric and hopefully help us keep the feel good feeling going and jump start our season. Wilson should be back so that’ll help as will Bruceless probable departure …we’ve been ok going forward so fingers crossed cos don’t think spuds are all that.

Ron Knee – yes, definitely. One thing does not necessarily have to be linked with the other. We have cover for the Head Coach in situ and there is no rush to appoint a new one. A priority is to employ a DoF before a Coach / Manager as this will depend on the type of team we have going forward. But there should be no rush once we have seen the back of Bruce.

From twitter: Mouth of the Tyne

#NUFC player saying Bruce “won’t be in charge for the Spurs game”.

He’s been told to prepare the players, along with Jones, for Sunday but will get the chop by Thursday at the latest.

That’s DIRECT from a player so hopefully calms a few nerves.

I still think Bruce will be gone by Sunday, there’s still four days to get someone in, and surely negotiations with their preferred targets are already under way (preferably DOF and Head Coach).
Al Rumayyan is supposedly over for the match. Maybe he’ll be here a couple of days prior and as decision maker, would prefer to thank and sever ties with Bruce personally? The consortium don’t have a dislike for the man like we do, he’s done the job as asked, by keeping us up last season, as the T/O rumbled on.
I expect Jones to be in the dugout, with a new manager/head coach hopefully showcased and sat watching from the stands.
I really cannot see Bruce being anywhere near St James, the consortium know the consequences of him being there, especially if we don’t start well.
Also a lot of the Sky punditry would continue to focus on him and speculation over his position, on what is meant to be a celebratory day, showcasing our new owners to the world.. Bruce would be a PR disaster.
Likewise, I don’t expect Charnley to show either, or if he is there I think he’ll be kept well away from public view.

See, I think, if the consortium could read Stevie boy as well as the fans can, they would realise that when he says he thinks the takeover is the best thing for the club, or that he appreciates that they may want a new manager, he really means ” Cough up my 8 mill, and I’ll be out of your hair quicker than you can say ‘Crafty, 2-faced, money-grabbing bugger’ “

I like the idea someone posted earlier of putting the three Steves in charge of the women’s team on his three year rolling contract.
Wouldn’t be good for the success of our women’s team mind.

We have no say whether he stays or goes but the crowd can boo him or ignore him whether we win lose or draw

It’s only toxic if the crowd make it so and the reality is if he’s in the dugout it’s because the new owners have decided to keep him for now

why? we won’t know unless they choose to tell us

They won’t be doing it to annoy the crowd and surely can expect the crowd to cut them some slack

I want it to be 100% positive and without Bruce it would be for certain but even with him there unwanted it still can be – that’s our choice as I say

So, we hope that Bruce is out fast although clearly the new owners are talking to him and giving him some degree of latitude and respect.

So I wonder what Amanda would make of a bloke calling Bruce a ‘stain’.

Probably think the bloke is a gowl, although she probably wouldn’t use that word 🙂

Sunday’s crowd’ll be on a high and that any animosity towards Bruce’ll be forgotten or controlled in the knowledge that the new owners’ll be well aware of his previous and his departure is on the cards.

My approach to bad situations is to try to find a positive
Not always possible but if he’s there Sunday as an unwanted guest at a celebration he can be made to feel irrelevant and un!oved by being totally ignored

Is anyone really saying if the price of getting an unexpected early sale and rid of Ashley would mean keeping Bruce for a while they would ditch it in a fit of pique as he has to go

Small and temporary cost -he wasn’t the problem just brought in by him and will go

Guys calm the f down and have some patience!! We all want bruce out asap but give the man a little respect and let him take his 1000th game in charge and sack him after. Who knows he might sign off with a win.
We would be foolish to think we’ll get instant success.

Right OK he could be sacked in the morning, but is anyone else getting the feeling they want Bruce to stay for a while, they are slowly, slowly easing us unto the realisation he will be here for Spurs, in the hope we will win with the new atmosphere about and use that as a springboard to keep him for the next match and so on.

Mctoon problem is the closer its gets to Sunday the cruler it will be to sack him. Because its like waiting all this time dangling his 1000th match in front of him and taking it away at the last minute. They definitely won’t do that imo. So I reckon if he’s not gone by tomorrow he’s definitely here for the Spurs match.

Likely getting the new manager more or less in place before Bruce is given the chop, as a Caretaker Manager scenario just doesn’t cut it.
