Journalists Give Insight To Overwhelming First Week For Newcastle’s New Owners

Earlier this morning, Keith Downie provided some insight as to why a decision on Steve Bruce’s future was seemingly ‘dragging on.’ Part of his explanation revolved around a chaotic first week for the new owners.

The takeover happened abruptly on Thursday after being shrouded in uncertainty for over a year. So the plans the consortium had made 18 months ago had to be altered. One obvious example is Rafa Benitez joining Everton over the summer.

The Spaniard would have been the top choice to lead Newcastle’s revolution in a second stint with the club. However, Benitez is an honorable man and won’t break his contract with Everton even if he would love another chance at St. James’ Park.

Luke Edwards with the Telegraph has also touched on the frantic start for our new owners. He tweeted the following earlier this morning which stresses the suddenness of the takeover’s completion.

Edwards also reveals that the makeup of the new board means there are a lot of competing voices and opinions. They are also being inundated with advice from outside the club. So things are very overwhelming at the moment.

However, that is to be expected and as Edwards notes, was also the case at Manchester City. Our new owners are coming to grips with the situation and hould soon be able to reveal more of their plans for the future as well as the interim

George Caulkin also alluded to the new owners playing catchup in a recent mailbag in The Athletic. He stated that Lee Charnley will be retained for longer than anticipated to help with the transition.

Caulkin also referenced the make-up of the board. He revealed that a source told him decision making, at least initially, could be a ‘long and arduous process’. He added this is due to the complex dynamics between the three-pronged ownership group writing:

There are also three spokes to Newcastle’s ownership. That means there are three sets of opinions, if not more, and three sets of people receiving information or messages from contacts, from agents, from total strangers.

While it seems to be ‘dragging on’ from the outside, at least in regards to Bruce’s position, there is a lot happening behind the scenes to get Newcastle’s rebuild underway.

Trevor Sinclair said Newcastle fans wrong to want Bruce out due to being unpopular. It is a results business and Steve knows how to get results.

    Absolutely unbelievable again.

I just don’t want Bruce to be the focus of attention on Sunday. If he’s there, let’s just ignore him, whatever the score, whatever his dubious tactics. Just party…

Knowing that Bruceyboy’s in the departure lounge, let’s assume for a minute that the fans liked him, even though he yet was regarded as poor manager who didn’t toe the Ashley line, would there be the clamour to kick him out now, this minute?

Or would fans be patient because they liked him?

Like him or not, I believe Bruce has acted professionally, though at times has been clumsy in his presentation and language.

There now, and I’m not an attention seeker!

Watching the training it looks like folk just generally wonder around kickin a ball about while Bruceless stands on the sideline thinking about what hes having for tea. Joke of a club weve been. Only decent due to decent professionals such as our skipper in the current squad

Bruce and the players are being given Thursday off work.

At all other clubs, Thursdays before each weekend game is allocated to watching videos of opponents and going through tactics.

Bruce doesn’t do tactics. So the team gets the day off instead.

And for those still defending Joelinton and saying he should be given a chance.

Tomorrow, during his day off he will still receive £11,500 which is his daily wage at the club.

Don’t ever tell me anything he does deserves him to stay this club.

    11.5K per day, every day.

I see you don’t take your own medicine well…

Apparently it’s OK for you to call Steve Bruce – who despite his faults did what he was asked to do and kept us easily up for two seasons – a stain on the history on Newcastle United…

But not OK for you to be called a stain on the history of the blog for your constant moaning, negativity, and hounding of certain posters.

Explain where that line of thought comes from.

There was a report earlier today that Man City are prepared to pay Haaland £1 million a week to keep him out of the clutches of Newcastle.

‘Out of the clutches of Newcastle’

What a difference a week makes.

Last week we couldn’t afford their U23 players.

We certainly don’t appear to have a professional sports/fitness regime which over and above any actual football skills/tactics/dead ball stuff etc. is essential for the strength and well being of the players as well as ensuring they are fit enough to get through 100 minutes of competitive football. All our players appear unfit, although many of them go away on International duty and perform reasonably.

Is this psychological? Does their apparent inability to perform for 2 consecutive halves of a match come from the lack of ambition of the former regime and inability to enthuse or excite from the Head Coach. We’ll see on Sunday. If they all suddenly appear to be full of energy and running through entire game – we will know why, the team had lost belief, the same as us.

Was driving home on quiet country roads last night and started thinking about the takeover. Couldn’t stop chuckling to myself. Still can’t quite believe it. Not because of having rich owners (though that’s obviously a bonus), but because Ashley has gone and the dark clouds of the last 14 years have finally gone

I’m aware of his release clause mate but no chance City will pay him 1M a week to like you said keep him out of the clutches of Newcastle.

If anything they will buy him as he is one of if not the best young talent in world football and he would improve them immensely.
