Report – Still No Certainty On Bruce’s Future As The Clock Ticks Down To Sunday

The uncertainty surrounding Steve Bruce’s position at Newcastle has continued to linger late into the week. The players have Thursday off so we could hear of a decision either way by then.

It seems doubtful Bruce will hold Friday’s press conference for Tottenham without some inclination of his immediate future. The delay could be down to the Saudis as two reports are claiming that the greenlight to sack Bruce is being held up on their end.

Late Wednesday, The Times’ Martin Hardy reported that Staveley is waiting for the go-ahead from chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan to relieve Bruce of his duties. However, the non-executive chairman has yet to make that call.

Luke Edwards in The Telegraph has expanded on this claim in his latest report. Edwards has added that some members of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund don’t see the wisdom in sacking Bruce without a replacement lined up.

Edwards still insists his sources are convinced Bruce will not be on the touchline for Tottenham on Sunday. However, Edwards concedes that due to the delay that proposition is no longer ‘beyond of the realms of possibility.’

It was, in fact, the Saudis who were very keen on relaying their gratitude to Bruce for keeping Newcastle up for the past two seasons. All members of the consortium have been impressed with the way Bruce has conducted himself in what are uncomfortable times for him personally.

How Will Newcastle Begin The New Era Against Tottenham On Sunday?

No to Lampard he’s a knacker.

Toon fans need to show some resolve and keep their nerve. Seems some are waivering about Brucie and are waving the white handkerchief of surrender even at this early time.

Do you think Amanda has the authority to hire and fire?

    Morning mate 🙂

Too right fella, it will be one great atmosphere and the result would make it the icing on the cake – but we have waited a long time for this.

    Take care mate

Just hang fire until the official people make announcements – not the press.

We should all know the press are just making stuff up at the present time – none of them would appear to know what is happening and are just speculating.

    Keep your resolve.

Aye I thought the same when reading it mate. If he has had some kind of contact and there is truth to this then I can’t fault him one bit for holding out for City. We will get there in time.

My guess is Amanda, Mehrdad and Jamie don’t get to make the final decisions without approval by Yasir Al Rumayyan. It may be that Yasir wants to meet face to face with everyone before a decision is made. Or, as he’ll likely be looking at everything from a more business perspective, he may think it’s a strange decision to remove a manager without another manager ready to replace him. He may believe that it makes more sense to sack Bruce when a replacement is found and not before. I imagine Amanda, Mehrdad and Jamie are very aware of how the fans feel and would ideally already let Bruce go. I would be confidently that they either haven’t got the clearance to do so yet or for one reason or another the PIF side in the form of Yasir is holding the decision up.

I’m not too worried if Bruce is on the touch line Sunday !

Want him gone like most fans !

But he’s on borrowed time and won’t be long before him and the other two Stooges are down the road !!

I’ve got complete faith that the new owners will get most of , if not all of their decisions correct regarding appointments and will push us on to where we all want to be !

    HWTL 🙂

Ain’t nobody gonna act without Big Al’s say so.

But when he says jump, hang on tight and enjoy the ride.

He is not a Manager! Head coach which is what he aspires to be, but is useless at it..

Bruce is just another bag of wind like many others under the previous watch..

If it’s true about Bruce’s 3 year rolling contract that Ashley knew would only be paid up by PIF if they fired him after they bought – a whopping £8M – then I’m not surprised he isn’t gone yet.

PIF may be mega rich but that doesn’t mean they’ll throw £8M around like confetti.

I would guess that PIF and Bruce’s lawyers will be working on a settlement with Bruce’s digging in that he gets the full £8M.
