Bruce Set To Take Friday’s Press Conference For Spurs

It has been confirmed that Steve Bruce will take tomorrow’s press conference for Tottenham. The press briefing is scheduled for 1:30pm which is later than his usual 9:30pm slot.

Here is the confirmation from The Athletic’s Chris Waugh.

The decision on Bruce’s future has seemingly been delayed. There were reports over the past 24 hours that the delay is coming from the Saudis, who want a manager in place before letting Bruce go.

Scott Wilson in The Northern Echo has issued an update today. He is backing claims that Amanda Staveley and Jamie Reuben are waiting on the green light from Yasir al-Rumayyan to let Bruce go.

Both Staveley and Reuben want to part ways with Bruce as soon as possible with Graeme Jones seen as a viable option as caretaker manager while the search for a permanent replacement continues.

However, as reported last night in The Telegraph, the Saudis don’t see the wisdom in that approach. There is also the issue of Bruce’s £8m compensation package as well as which members of his staff will be retained.

This update on the press conference signals that a decision on Bruce’s future will not be made public today despite the players having the day off. It’s also looking more and more likely that Bruce will be in charge for Tottenham on Sunday.

If any of us were offered the chance last Monday to be rid of Ashley but Bruce will still be in charge of Spurs? Who would of snapped the hand off? Guarantee 99% of us would of.

Patience is needed more than ever as like it’s been said this wasn’t expected to happen so quickly and preparations are not in place yet.

Just think of what’s to come further down the line, with any dream possible and now think back of Ashley and can any of you say you could do that during his reign?

The future is bright. A new era, a new dawn, a new start.

    Saw some comments about Potter.

I think Potter would be an ideal choice. I acknowledge from a points obtained perspective he has flattered to deceive but having watched a significant number of their games it is quite clear they were unlucky last year. I note the point regarding this years XG, they were 10th for expected goals and 3rd for least expected goals against which put them 5th on expected points!

The style of football is attractive to watch, the squad he has is one of the worst in the league and he’s got players improving (look at the resurgence of Duffy for example).

I do agree results weren’t good enough last year and that you can make your own luck but some games they were hitting crossbar after crossbar. Hopefully he has learnt from this.

I’d love to have him on board.

It’s not a case of Amanda being classy or letting Bruce have his 1000th game here as a nice gesture, like some suggested. It would suggest he is only here because his replacement hasn’t been sorted yet. I don’t know about you but if I knew I was going to be sacked soon regardless of how well I done my next job (Spurs game in this example), I wouldn’t exactly go all out to make sure that job was my best one. Is Bruce really going to be that bothered if he knows he’s going? I can’t imagine Bruce or the Steve’s are exactly excited about training and matches when they know no matter how they do, they’re going soon anyway. I still think even without a replacement lined up yet, it’s better to get rid of him and have Jones in charge temporarily with coaches of the youth teams and reserves used as back up for training if needed.

Our only hope is that the players find another couple of levels to impress the new owners and are buoyed by the takeover news and atmosphere the fans create on Sunday.

It may take some time for our new owners to fully understand the football culture in England. Staveley and her hubby do, hence maybe them wanting to act to save any embarrassing situations on Sunday. A goal or two from Spurs with Bruce doing his usual on the touch line may be enough for the new chairman to witness it. I’m sure he’ll soon understand the song “sacked in the morning”.

The only positive I can glean from statement is the press conference has been moved to 1.30 to give Amanda enough time to sack him in the morning…the 9.30 would have too early…Amanda needs to put her TV face on and get someone else ready for the 1.30 press conference l! 🙂

    Onwards and upwards

As I said yesterday, it’s a good job us fans are not making the decisions at SJP. Let’s trust in the thorough methodical process driven approach of our new owners. In the meantime we can continue to speculate and argue over what we should do.
For me Potter has completely changed Brighton’s style and is an intelligent guy, with experience abroad as well.
Lampard is also intelligent, but the jury is still out as to whether or not he could really improve players and fight a relegation battle. But he’s available and Potter may not be.
The good news is my back is on the mend and I might just make it up to SJP on Sunday.

From earlier, Aye, I was joking about rushing in and spending ridiculous amounts of money on players only here for just that, however I’ve no qualms at all in them taking every advantage they can of the FFP rules. Rules invented by the two of the most corrupt men world football has ever seen, rules put in place, not to protect clubs going bust at all, but to prevent clubs like us or Everton, Villa etc ever threatening the very rich clubs as Man City and Chelsea have.

If Bruch thought/knew he had any chance of staying I Don’t believe for one second he would of given himself and the players today day off.

He must know he is gone, and a replacement is being lined up. (or he is thick as pig shxt)…or both

It looks and feels like the consortium want something lined up immediately once Bruce is dismissed.

Personally i would of made it my first job on the day the takeover was announced, to sack him and put jones in charge for a week or two until a replacement was lined up – to save all of this (will he or wont he) crap we have had to endure this week.

He technically has already had his 1000th game in charge but has decided that his 1st game for Birmingham wasn’t official and wanted the sky cameras to be there for his ‘Milestone’ game.

    All about him.

Still hoping he hear something tonight or early tomorrow as i think if he is in the dugout on Sunday it will ruin the party atmosphere.

If we sack him and have stuff all coaches , because the Steves go with him ( or do they? ) , then that makes little sense.

Jones has enough to be going on with.

If we have to wait until next week, so be it.

Mind you, I think we could end up having him longer unless we get a DOF appointed – or a manager that the DOF applicants would be happy with anyway.

Id rather have Jones and Bruce for 2 weeks than Lampard for 2 years

The three Steves could “transmit” their malaise of impending unemployment to the players – who may therefore not play as well.

A clean break before Sunday surely would lift the players to a better level – enough to give Spurs a whooping – which they sorely need – subsequent to them trying to shaft us with the PL.

Whooping them on Sunday would be magnificent. Put Levy in his place as well.
    I’ve already suggested a 3 – 0 win to the Toon.

First question at the presser should be
Steve ,why do you think after such an abysmal run of results during you tenure and the negativity surrounding your continued presence do you think that you should be in charge for this match.

Everyone and his dog knows he’s not the man for the job but none of them will say so.
He’s dragging us down for another week but hey he’ll get his 8 mil soon.

I find it sad and rather annoying that all of our excitement with regards to the takeover has slowly started to dissipate with the decision to hang on with Steve Bruce in charge until a new manager comes in.
Bruce is absolutely useless as a a coach, devoid of tactics, style and motivation and could easily be replaced without any kind of detriment to the players’ performances. I’m sure Kevin Keegan in tandem with Jones for a few matches would not only lift the squad but also the fans until our super new manager is appointed.
I’m afraid, Amanda, that your promise to listen to the fans will be falling on deaf ears if that managerial nonentity is till there on Sunday licking his lips on the touchline in anticipation of super charged atmosphere resulting in a win thinking it will ‘enhance’ his CV to the new owners.
I’m sure you won’t want to ruin this momentous party do you?

    All this stuff about patience.

The new owners have to read the room.

One look on social media or at the NUST poll tells you this man has to go.

Half an hour looking at the statistics tells you this man has to go.

Massive red flag if he is in the dugout on Sunday.

So we have to tolerate Brucie a little while longer, a bit disappointing to say the least but the top priority and main objective is bringing the right people in to run our club, so we can all live with the irritation of Bruce being at the club for a while longer, in my opinion he is not the main man any longer, he is just like an extra in a movie or a soap, not part of the main programme, graeme jones is the man in the big picture now until an new manager is installed. Like Mund used to keep saying, we`re born into an new era. onwards and upwards. There aint no stopping us now. HWTL ok back to work.

Macas – his 1000th game was against Wolves – He is trying to pulling the wool over our eyes. It was widely reported last week that it was his 1000th game, ……After the defeat to Wolves he told all of the press that he had just been informed that his first game in charge at Birmingham wasn’t actually official and doesn’t count ) …….He wanted his 1000th game to be on sky (so he could get all the attention…………….then the takeover happened!! lol

I genuinely do’t think he’s been bothered for months. Knowing Ashley won’t back him, knowing fans don’t like him, knowing he won’t be backed by Ashley and knowing he’ll be gone when a takeover happens. I think he stopped being that bothered a long time ago and is just hanging around waiting to get his cheque and be told to leave.

Sounds harsh on him, but I honestly believe that.

Don’t forget Bruce and Charnley are just a symptom of a disease that’s been cured, symptoms will clear soon enough and We’ll be fighting fit.

We’ll get stronger and stronger week by week, keep tight ahold.
