The key to Newcastle’s survival this season could be keeping Callum Wilson fit. The striker has been in fantastic form this season with 4 goals in his 5 matches played. He scored arguably his best goal in a black and white shirt at Crytal Palace yesterday.
Here it is once again.

That world-class finish helped Newcastle get a point and stop a two-game losing streak. While it’s debatable whether the overall performance deserved a point, the lads grafted the entire match but it took just a moment of class to get the result.
After the match, Graeme Jones was asked about Wilson and his goal when he spoke to NUFC TV. Here is a bit of what Jones said about the 29-year-old:
“For me, he’s the best matchday finisher I’ve worked with.
“In training, Cal’s an outstanding professional. He’s fine in training but when he’s playing in front of a crowd something stimulates him, his mentality is exceptional for it.
“He’s got that Newcasle mentality when it really matters. His goal today was pure talent. It was outstanding.”
Wilson started this season with 2 goals in his first 3 matches. The quick start was interrupted by the thigh injury he suffered against Southampton in August. Aided by two international breaks, the 29-year-old only missed three matches despite his injury being a serious one.
Wilson’s return coincided with the start of Newcastle’s new era. He has contributed the only two goals since the new owners took over. While the performances haven’t been there, Callum’s ability to get goals out of nowhere will be crucial until the squad can be strengthened in January.
Jones, and our next manager, will be relying heavily on the 29-year-old until the winter window opens and beyond. Keeping Callum fit will be critical until another quality striker can be brought in.
Jones added the following about the importance of having a fit Callum Wilson:
“Huge, but I think he’s still working towards that. What he didn’t do is let us down off the ball at any stage.
“He’s played two games in maybe 8 weeks. He’s a fit boy, he looks after himself, and he’s a good professional. Hopefully, touch wood, he’ll stay fit.”

‘We need managerial experience and someone who knows the club. Why not give Brucey the chance he’s a club legend and I’m sure he’d get full support from the fans. He’s never had the chance to spend money at other clubs. Bring him home where he’d be appreciated.’
Unbelievable hahaha careful what you wish for lad

Comment #107These Man U fans are pathetic. No passion for the club.
It’s clear as day Ole has to go and they do nothing in the stadium to make that known.
His club legend status is a overegged too. One massively important goal. Not like he was in the Keane, Giigs, Scholes ranks of importance. Always a bit part player.

Comment #110Best game this season, just for that disallowed goal for Man U, their sending off and the sheer number of goals flying in against them.
This could be a blessing in disguise for them though if they sack Ole and get someone like Conte. They’ll probably have their new manager before us!

Whoever comes I next is definitely going to give DVB game time and they’re going to see how class he is.

Comment #117When we played Man u, I never thought they were that good, I thought we were the better team for the first 45, and if we had better finishers at the club, it would have been game over, second half they were the better team, but not by that much, score line flattered them.
