Newcastle United have still not made an official announcement on Eddie Howe’s backroom team. Though the head coach did confirm last week that he had brought along Jason Tindall, Stephen Purches, Simon Weatherstone, and Dan Hodges.
Howe also confirmed that Graeme Jones would remain and join his backroom staff, most likely as a first-team coach. The Geordie had made it well-known that the owners had given him assurances he would remain at St. James’ Park.
Jones was appointed caretaker manager soon after Steve Bruce left by mutual consent. Bruce’s two other coaches, Stephen Clemence and Steve Agnew, remained on board to assist Jones for the three matches he was in charge of.
The Athletic is reporting that both Clemence and Agnew have now departed the club, which was always expected. Though both Ben Dawson, first-team development coach, and goalkeeping coach Simon Smith have been involved in training sessions during the international break.
Chris Waugh, in his report, states that Dawson is expected to be retained. The same could be the case for Smith as Howe has not brought in his own goalkeeping coach. We’ll probably get a full rundown of everybody’s role once the club makes its official announcement on Howe’s backroom team.

Comment #121Mund – I question why people speak about Ashley in order to attack other Toon fans rather than just talking about him as part of a dark period for our club and someone we’re all glad to be rid of.

Erm, let me think, maybe it’s because you posted an article on him. Did you honestly forget that you just did or are you blissfully unaware that you did???

Comment #123Evening all, just catching up with the blog from today. Quick thought, did the supporters trust come out and say what their aims are now post takeover? What will happen with all the fan raised proceeds they collected? Will they be donated to a local charity or will they still try and take a tiny percentage of the club for fan representation?

Comment #126Discussion earlier about KK leaving and Sir Les being sold – although the events were months apart they were connected in a way
Basically SJH had floated club on Stock Exchange ( after hoping he could get fans to buy in and failed) and with it came some required tightening of purse strings
KK wanted more buying and wasn’t happy with having to sell.
He claimed to have left after becoming disenchanted with Game in general after seeing look on his mate Gerry Francis’s face in dugout after we had taken his Spurs side apart 7-1
I don’t believe that and although he remains one of my hero’s I was very disappointed when he left – which over the years he has repeated
When Dagleish came in he was required to sell Shearer or Ferdinand ( and others) to balance books
He allowed Sir Les to go but then Shearer was injured pre-season at a Friendly tournament at Everton and club tried to stop sale of Sir Les as he was at Spurs but hadn’t signed – he wouldn’t agree to return in circumstances
We then ended up with the “Dads Army” cheap or free replacements of Pearce Rush and Barnes fo those allowed to leave
He was under pressure and messed up without the backing he had had (and needed) at Liverpool and Blackburn

Comment #130Regarding KK leaving the first time, my memory could be wrong but I thought it was when the club was being floated and he was called into the office (not sure if Shepherd or Hall) and told he needed to sign a long-term deal because it would help the process if there was stability at the managerial level. KK refused to be pushed into a decision that had nothing to do with football and everything to do with business and he was given an ultimatum of sign or go. KK being KK, left.
I could be wrong but that’s how I remember it.

i recall that being reported at time but i also heard that he wasn’t prepared to sell players – he had just bought Shearer to partner Sir Les and was competing with Man U
As things tiured out I believe the more likely reason he left becaue he couldn’t face what the flotation required of the club
