Sunday Times Journalist Invents Bad News About Newcastle

We have noticed how negative the national press coverage has been towards Newcastle United, since the Saudi-backed deal went through on October 7th, to the surprise of almost everybody.

It was negative before that, but it seems to have become even worse.

And even since then, mainline journalists have tried to paint a picture of some chaos at the club.

It’s true that a number of head coaches turned us down, but one of them that was not asked to come was Steven Gerrard who recently

So it’s all rather comical, we are being criticized for not getting a head coach in that we didn’t in fact want – in Steven Gerrard’s case.

And Duncan Castles, of the Sunday Times, went into a little detail about what he sees as “problems” with the new regime, starting with the new head coach Eddie Howe:

“Definitely not first choice. There were a number of other people who would have got that job.”

“You talk about Steven Gerrard and he is just one name that they talked to and who had the opportunity to take over at Newcastle United decided not to.”

“Part of the problem Newcastle United have is you have Amanda Staveley, PCP Capital having a management contract.”

“She is in principle running the club at present, but basically her job is to make decisions and pass those decisions on to PIF on to Saudi Arabia to rubber stamp.”

It certainly seems a complex situation at the Toon, with major decisions, not necessarily straightforward.”

“Whether or not that process changes when a Director of Football is found, remains to be seen.”

“What we do know, is that it must be a nightmare for Staveley at the moment, trying to make key decisions, needing everything approved before she can move forward.”

A nightmare? – we think not.

We are very pleased with the way both Amanda Staveley and Eddie how have been doing their jobs at Newcastle.

That’s probably irksome to the national press, who wouldn’t be able to stand a very well-managed and very rich and successful Newcastle United.

But that’s what’s coming.

So we will have to get used to them trying to throw a few spanners in the works.

But hey – what’s new?

🙂

fatha1965 – Jenas wanted to leave because he complained about the “goldfish bowl”. Dyer didn’t really do much after us either. Perhaps was a good time to sell?

This “first choice” thing is stupid. Do you think Wilson cares that the club would rather have signed Kane?

Andy Cole, Cabaye, two more players we never really should have sold and never really replaced.

The bus is moving fast these days. The media can’t stop giving their opinions on us. Which are complete nonsense most of the time. Best ignore it but tbh I kinda like the attention Newcastle are getting from all corners of the globe. We are slowly being considered a powerhouse due to our insane wealth and are scared shitless of the force we could become. We just need to survive this season and watch us take off.

Assassins Inc – was sad that we sold Cole as I don’t think he really wanted to go. Cabaye wanted to leave though, not sure the club could realistically have prevented that.

Cabaye couldn’t have pushed harder to get away…

And his career bombed as soon as he did.

    But let’s forget about him!

Any player that has been signed has been given a chance. They’re given a chance to impress in training and in reserve games at the very least. I don’t think it’s realistic or fair to keep playing a player to “give him a chance” if he’s not performing in training/reserve games and hasn’t performed when he’s played for the first team yet either. That’s not really fair on other players who are working hard in training and doing well in reserve games.

I reckon Rafa has a system for rating players, he wants the full package, no one gets a perfect score but there had to be a certain level achieved in each category or the potential to achieve it.

A bit like a tick list with scores against each, maybe something like this…

    1 Technical skills
    2 Attitude / discipline
    3 Vision / game awareness
    4 Fitness / pace
    5 Intelligence
    6 Loyalty / team spirit

I think Mitro failed on a few counts with the manager.

Do you think Joelinton would have kept being given chance after chance after chance at a properly ran football club.

I really don’t give a toss what all the media has to say about our team Newcastle United….

There will come a time in the not too distant future when we shall stuff all their words back down their throats!

I’m glad we have Howe – I have reservations about how well Steve Gerrard will do in a much bigger league where every game is a hard game!

I wonder if our new and yet to be announced DOF is working out of the spotlight with the consortium and coach preparing and fixing January and summer deals?

Remember, we are talking about highly unorganised people!

I think Duncan Castles and the rest of the sycophantic brown noses have the wind up and need to burp!

Maybe not. But, if you pay 40 million for a player, especially at NUFC, I understand how you want to give him a chance.

Hope he comes good, but yes, was (is?) a disappointment. What I do like about him, he doesn’t hide.

Once Eddie gets a few wins under his belt these same journos will be singing his praises. The hypocritical U -Turn is probably only 3 weeks away. It’s click bait sh*t stirring, and a whole load of envy. I get also irate at the oft used line that Newcastles’ weather and distance from the bright lights of London is some kind of turn of for players, usually on 5 Live by someone who knows everything they do about the place by having seen 2 episodes of Geordie Shore. As if its some outpost in Siberia, and not a City with identical weather to Liverpool or Manchester. Just with far friendlier people and about a hundred times more beautiful in every way

Cole went and was replaced with Sir Les, then we signed Shearer!

Gavin did leave for family reasons, his son Jake, first child was born with his right arm missing from elbow down. Actually after tests, found would have been right handed. They decided wanted to be next to both sets of parents and near great ormand street hospital. Jake turned out to be first kid at school to tie laces. Now runs a gym out in Canada and does Thai fighting against fully able bodied and wins most fights, got so many titles, and does just amazing

Gav did say wished he had stayed longer with us. Actually I went to see him year after leaving went to see Leeds v Chelsea, Keegan actually came for game as well. Hoddle banned Gav from talking to me after as thought could easily get him back up. Of course he did speak to me and think fine was dropped. He had great time at Chelsea, but loved it here, his Grandads club, should read his book. And know if offered something, he would be straight back

The Cole sale was for Sir Les, was told he was coming about 2 weeks before he did. Also knew about Pedro coming, Keegan let Gavin go because of situation but did tell him if he stayed him and Pedro were going to link up. Got told all that and was great but didn’t make up for losing free tickets
