There’s an excellent article in the Chronicle this morning – an interview with our number 9 striker, Callum striker.
Callum talks about the tremendous impact the new head coach has made at Newcastle, during his first week on board.
And we can look forward to a much fitter Newcastle United side when the team lines up at St. James’ Park on Saturday afternoon against Brentford.
Brentford, newly promoted, have gone into some decline, losing their last four league games, so perhaps we can get our first win of the season on Saturday.
We hope we can get our first win of the season.
But Brentford still have 12 points from their first 11 games, and in 14th place.
Newcastle have had their worst start to any season, with only five draws and six defeats from the first 11 games, (and lost one cup game), and we are second bottom and 5 points adrift of safety.
Here’s some of what Callum has said:
“When somebody has helped you so much in your career and gave you the platform in the past to go out and showcase your talent and perform you are grateful.”
“We have such a good relationship anyway, but strange things happen in football.”
“Our paths have crossed again.”
“And I am sure there will be more success as there was with Bournemouth.”
“With the manager, having worked with him in the past, when you are working together, you go on a journey.”
“In my experience with him you start somewhere and you work a certain way.”
“You get initial success, and then it is a positive spiral effect.”
“That leads on to everybody buying into that style of play, buying into the work ethic and buying into the culture.”
“Then it breeds more success.”
“That is what the manager has come up here to do.”
Success breeds success.
If we can win on Saturday there’s room for confidence and if other results go our way we could even be just 2 points from safety.
Eddie Howe will know all about this, but his sole aim in the next 9 games will be to go into the match with a plan as to how we can win it.
Fans will be delighted with this positive approach.
One thing is for sure, Eddie Howe and the lads will get tremendous support from the Newcastle fans.
What do you think?

Comment #2The meak and unassuming Callum Wilson disappears into a phone booth, then out bursts Callum Striker, comic book hero and saviour of the toon. Wonder if he’s related to our captainmarvel? 😆

Comment #4The Heed were the 1st club i ever watched, and if they ever got to be an EPL team there would be a serious problem over which team I’d be supporting.
Think I’d rather see them playing each other in the Cup final rather than the 3rd round! 🙂

Comment #5The one big difference I’m expecting from the lads on Saturday is to see whatever team he picks actually passing and running.
That in itself should be enough to improve the team that we have been watching.

That would be amazing, if only. I’ve had a long think about it and have to go for Gateshead end really.

I’m in Canada. Born a Geordie. Don’t know if there are any other Canadians on this blog.
What is your affiliation with Newcastle?
