How Will Newcastle Do At Arsenal On Saturday?

Newcastle are in the midst of preparations for the trip to Arsenal on Saturday. We’ve yet to get any indication of Eddie Howe’s status for the match. Though he is just four days removed from his positive Covid test so that is not surprising.

Howe will be funneling the plan to Jason Tindall and the rest of the coaching team from his hotel room. It’ll be intriguing to see how much the plan differs on the road at Arsenal from the 3-3 draw at home to Brentford.

Newcastle are coming off a thrilling display in the final third against the Bees. However, the calamitous defending has once resigned Newcastle to another deflating result. The point has Newcastle now bottom of the table without a win after 12 matches.

Arsenal saw an unbeaten run of 10 straight matches, including the Carabao Cup, come crashing to an end in a 4-0 defeat at Liverpool over the weekend. They’ll be determined to pick up three points to keep in touching distance of the Champions League places.

The cold hard truth is Newcastle need to pick up three points on Saturday. While a draw is a good result, Newcastle would be on just 7 points with a third of the campaign already over.

Howe should have close to a full squad available depending on how bad Fabian Schar’s knock is from Saturday. As of now, only Paul Dummett is unavailable for this weekend.

Similarly, the Gunners also are in very good shape with only Granit Xhaka and Sead Kolasinac out injured at the moment. So both clubs should have close to a full squad available for selection.

The fixtures will ramp up from now until the end of the year. Newcastle need wins desperately. While it will be a difficult task, three points has to be the aim on Saturday.

I voted for a win I think we could beat Arsenal if we came out all guns blazing

They haven’t been that good Ramsdale has kept them in a lot of games similar to Bruce getting fluke wins for us

If we can get an early goal their fans could turn

If the come out on fire and attack, I think we have a chance for a win. Nice to see that the greater percentage donโ€™t think we will loose.

Jail, for a Bill Bryson book, try A Walk in the Woods. Itโ€™s a funny, interesting read where he hikes / camps with an old college friend along the Appalachian trail

Haha yeah just think the time for sitting in and defending hoping for the best is over we pretty much have to go for broke against the “bigger” teams we might take a pounding off a few of them but I don’t think Arsenal are that team

Big Joelinton to score the winner haha

    Ace50,
I’ll be on with this Genghis Khan book till Christmas but I’ve just copied that in to my inkpad. Deliverance is my next book so it’ll be after that.

I would also like to see something of a small brushfire with Fraser to encourage him to run faster….

Just listening to a bit of No Quarter (94) Page and Plant. Lovely bit of work that one. Jimmy’s alternate tunings are very interesting, especially on The Rain Song and Wonderful One.

Good shout, canny read, the movie was pants.

I’m with Jessie, ‘At Home’ is very good.

Also enjoyed ‘A Short History of Nearly Everything’ a bit geekish, but if you wear the anorak…

I’m a bit nervous with us having to win 10 of the next 26 or so (plus a few more draws) to stay up potentially. I have faith in Howe and Co. though!!!! Huzzah!!!!

Fraser has had a lot of shit off a good few on here, would love him to prove the doubters wrong.

Brilliant cross for Maxiโ€™s equaliser, hopefully Howe can get the best out of him like he did at Bournemouth.

Wasn’t he a bit of a mixed bag Raj? I mean if you wanted your village conquered and your wife impregnated he was your man back then. I think once he was finished with the evening’s entertainment and was ready to move on, the villages were often better off with better governance (except for the dead people of course). I’ve heard Mongol hordes put little slippers on their horses hooves so they could sneak up on people. Just picture it, 100,000 Mongols just over the horizon before tip toeing on horseback into the middle of your village…..

    G2,
He abolished torture, encouraged religious freedoms and was a big advocate of cultural communications meaning practices learned in one part of the empire could be taught in the other, just a bit unfortunate if you already lived in one of the towns in his way ๐Ÿ˜•

I’ve said a few times Fraser is a better crosser of the ball than ASM. So far he has deserved the criticism that come his way. It is up to him to prove us wrong, not because of the sh!t we give him but because we pay his wages.
