How Will Newcastle Do At Arsenal On Saturday?

Newcastle are in the midst of preparations for the trip to Arsenal on Saturday. We’ve yet to get any indication of Eddie Howe’s status for the match. Though he is just four days removed from his positive Covid test so that is not surprising.

Howe will be funneling the plan to Jason Tindall and the rest of the coaching team from his hotel room. It’ll be intriguing to see how much the plan differs on the road at Arsenal from the 3-3 draw at home to Brentford.

Newcastle are coming off a thrilling display in the final third against the Bees. However, the calamitous defending has once resigned Newcastle to another deflating result. The point has Newcastle now bottom of the table without a win after 12 matches.

Arsenal saw an unbeaten run of 10 straight matches, including the Carabao Cup, come crashing to an end in a 4-0 defeat at Liverpool over the weekend. They’ll be determined to pick up three points to keep in touching distance of the Champions League places.

The cold hard truth is Newcastle need to pick up three points on Saturday. While a draw is a good result, Newcastle would be on just 7 points with a third of the campaign already over.

Howe should have close to a full squad available depending on how bad Fabian Schar’s knock is from Saturday. As of now, only Paul Dummett is unavailable for this weekend.

Similarly, the Gunners also are in very good shape with only Granit Xhaka and Sead Kolasinac out injured at the moment. So both clubs should have close to a full squad available for selection.

The fixtures will ramp up from now until the end of the year. Newcastle need wins desperately. While it will be a difficult task, three points has to be the aim on Saturday.

    magicmac54,
I hope you are well, yes, I’d be delighted with a point too. A lot of people have figured we need ten wins at least going forward.

I am interested to see if EH will be at the Arsenal game. It’s unlikely he will given the timing of the reporting of him having it. So, I am hoping to see his ‘first’ game at home to Norwich. Should be a cracking game under the lights

Raj Jail and the rest of my fellow Newcastle fans on the blog who like reading. The guy in the link below Eben Alexander the neurosurgeon and he was an atheist
his books are totally compelling, so if your an avid reader i suggest you get one of his books about the afterlife, ive already red two of his books and found them captivating.

I honestly don`t know how many wins we need to stay up, but i certainly think we need to beat both Burnley and Norwich to have any chance of staying in the premier league, we very very soon need to start picking up wins as draws wont be enough in my humble opinion.

All this talk of books and no love for Douglas Adams? I’ve read his Hitchhiker books so many times over the years. And his Dirk Gently series too.

Going to be interesting at the top end of the table this season. That top 3 just blew away some half decent opposition at the weekend without conceding a goal and scoring 10 collectively. Big gap between them and the rest. I am going to go Man City, Chelsea, and Liverpool as my 1,2,3.

Chilwell off injured tonight and Maguire banned leaves me short in defence.

Maguire transfer out for James, no-brainer.

If Chilwell is fit for the weekend, might even play 5 across the back the way defenders are picking up points atm.

Chelsea are on fire at the moment, i picked them to win the league this year as they in my opinion have the strongest all round team, and i think Romelu Lukaku was the final part of the jigsaw, they created loads of chances last year but just didn`t have anyone to put them in the onion bag on a consistant basis, also i think Man City missed a trick not getting Harry Kane which i think will cost them in the long run, i think Liverpool will be the biggest danger to Chelsea this season.

I’ve just started the Mr Men series. This Mr Messy needs to get his sh*t together really quickly otherwise he’s in for some trouble…

Think I’ve got a good contribution to the prospective blog book club. It is a book which costs 4 quid. I’ll pay for it to get the book club started. Any type of brain activity is good for your health ie reading.

    Anyway here is my suggestion.
