Newcastle are in the midst of preparations for the trip to Arsenal on Saturday. We’ve yet to get any indication of Eddie Howe’s status for the match. Though he is just four days removed from his positive Covid test so that is not surprising.
Howe will be funneling the plan to Jason Tindall and the rest of the coaching team from his hotel room. It’ll be intriguing to see how much the plan differs on the road at Arsenal from the 3-3 draw at home to Brentford.
Newcastle are coming off a thrilling display in the final third against the Bees. However, the calamitous defending has once resigned Newcastle to another deflating result. The point has Newcastle now bottom of the table without a win after 12 matches.
Arsenal saw an unbeaten run of 10 straight matches, including the Carabao Cup, come crashing to an end in a 4-0 defeat at Liverpool over the weekend. They’ll be determined to pick up three points to keep in touching distance of the Champions League places.
The cold hard truth is Newcastle need to pick up three points on Saturday. While a draw is a good result, Newcastle would be on just 7 points with a third of the campaign already over.
Howe should have close to a full squad available depending on how bad Fabian Schar’s knock is from Saturday. As of now, only Paul Dummett is unavailable for this weekend.
Similarly, the Gunners also are in very good shape with only Granit Xhaka and Sead Kolasinac out injured at the moment. So both clubs should have close to a full squad available for selection.
The fixtures will ramp up from now until the end of the year. Newcastle need wins desperately. While it will be a difficult task, three points has to be the aim on Saturday.

Comment #121In a totally semi drunkish prediction I had Newcastle winning 4-1 against the Bees.
At 1-1 each I was like here we go, we shite that was so far of the mark I going with another one for this weekend. With this defense we are going to get whooped smacked whacked slapped around the park.
Now if my theory is correct then this prediction should be so far off it should reverse.

I know you’ve logged off for the evening, but I’ve just seen your post about Eben Alexander. What’s really strange (or maybe it’s not!) is that I was listening to a podcast earlier today and the person mentioned him and talked about his NDE and his book. I’m really interested in spirituality, so I will definitely check it out. đ

Comment #127Ara ffs lads I’m going to have to reconsider thĂs 5 a side lark. 5 against 4. I was in the 4. We ran our bollocks off (well 3 of us did) and I’ve picked up a strained calf but a very strained thigh muscle. I’ve got kids training tomorrow followed by walking football, which is pretty quick at times, sort of walking running :).
I don’t think I’ve ever had a harder game of indoor football, ever. I’m in bits. Bed beckons.
On a footy note, I’m worried about Howe. Good bloke, good coach, but known to be a weak coach defensively. He have to tighten up or we’re in trouble.

Congratulations on your win over me in this past weekendâs H2H Div 2, North American El Clasico. After the final match on Sunday it appeared I had nipped ya by a point, but after the rather mysterious âbonusâ points were awarded later that night it seems you bested me by a point! đ
Well done lad!

It’s good to hear you’re on the mend but it’s a shame your illness hasn’t taught you what humility is.

Woke and other such deprecating language was used by a recent former US president. He too was intellectually challenged and it seems his use of language has been adopted by those of similar wit!

Indeed. Mr Adams died way too young, but he left us with some delightful literature. And the same goes with Terry Pratchett.
Regarding âMr Tuffâ I believe his bluster is merely an act for comedy purposes. At least I hope it isâŚ

Yes, Mr Adams did come out with some profundities.
I don’t know whether you’ve listened to the BBC radio Hitchiker’s Guide and if you haven’t, try to listen to it. Whether anyone who’s read the book and/or seen the film version, will appreciate the radio version, is open to question.
Listening to the story on the radio was my first experience of Mr Adams and to say it and he encouraged the imagination is understatement – especially when under the influence of the drink or whatever! Bless him.

The time for worrying about Eddie H’s defensive frailties are over. He’s here now and the damage has already been done by those before him. All we can do is get behind him and the team and just hope for the best.

Comment #145Re Jonjo, The Athletic gave him and Joel plenty of praise with backup stats etc. Problem is, as ever, we just don’t have good passers and he has vision and execution, low pace, but is brave on the ball and keeps possession. Lobby is rubbish, asm takes a lot out of the ball, miggy has no vision and poor passing, Willock same. Its a mess in there. The others need to improve.
