Newcastle Release Training Images As Tindall Scheduled To Take Friday’s Press Briefing

Newcastle have released images from Wednesday’s training session ahead of Saturday’s trip to Arsenal. In a statement released with the images, the club confirm that Fabian Schar is ok after coming off early against Brentford last weekend.

The Swiss defender was spotted in a few of the pictures. From the look of it, only Paul Dummett will be unavailable this weekend as he struggles to recover from his pre-season calf injury.

A trio of youngsters joined the session with Matt Bondswell, Jack Young, and Dylan Stephenson getting another taste of training with the first team. Elliot Anderson, fresh off his Monday hat-trick for the U23s, seems ready to push for a place in the matchday squad.

Eddie Howe is still self-isolating after his positive Covid test from Friday. Jason Tindall, who was on the touchline for the Brentford match, and fellow assistant head coach Graeme Jones are taking the training sessions.

Tindall has been handed press duties for Friday’s 9am press conference according to The Chronicle. The 44-year-old will likely be on the touchline at the Emirates on Saturday with Howe still likely to be self-isolating.

Here is a video of today’s session just released on Newcastle’s YouTube channel.

Regan, that has to be the the worst joke for the year apart from all of mine. Then again, I am a brat. So maybe a bratwurst joke can beat it.

Eddie Howe hasn’t given up hope of leading NUFC for first time at Arsenal on Sat, but he’ll have to return negative test to be released from isolation (symptoms traced back to at least 10 days before game). He’s designed each training session this week & watched back all footage

When we’re discussing January transfers and people talk about all our money and that we’ll spend. I don’t think anybody thinks we won’t spend, I haven’t seen any hint or suggestion from anybody on here that says we won’t. However I do think that some people think that a magic wand full of cash will be waved and all will end well. It really isn’t as simple as that due to the shower the last crew left behind. If we were tenth, a magic wand could have been waved and we could have very realistically bought Sterling, Lingard, Trippier, Tarkowski, DVBD and Origi in one hit and made a push for top six and been two or three years ahead of schedule, the reality is we’re not tenth, we’re bottom of the league and a different proposition altogether, an unknown quantity until the summer.

It’s an absolute joy to see mate. Such polar opposites to the previous boss.

Anderson is more than ready to step up IMO and I think we will see a good bit of him this season. He scored a hatrick in his last U23s outing.

Loans with an option to buy are good. Lots of quality players on the fringes of big teams who’d be interested in coming for the remainder of the season and possibly more, particularly with the good coaching we can now offer. Top wedge, quality coaching, fantastic match day atmosphere, the deals are there to be made.

We don’t know what position in the league we’ll be come Jan.

Don’t know how the team will be performing.

We could go ten unbeaten, no one knows, we may only lose to Citeh and Liverpool, we could lose them all.

Quite obvious if we’re struggling it’ll be hard to attract people, yet we may be a more attractive proposition than some are expecting.

Howe was being sensible saying he wouldn’t be thinking of transfers until December.

It would be stupid to write a wish list before you know how the squad you have is adapting to your system, plus when you don’t know which position your team will be in the league, therefore you don’t know the calibre of player you can attract.

It’s a bit early to say x y or z is out of the question.

    Ntbt,
We’re on the same page there. Which fringe players do you think, I think Rob Holding and Maitland-Niles, Ruben-Loftus Cheek and Barkley, Donny VDB, Lingard, Dier at Spurs if he’s replaced. If you’ve been reading you’ve seen my thoughts on permanent signings with World Cup aspirations.

Yeah, I agree with you Jail, players in the situation and of the calibre you’ve mentioned, all looking for regular football, as well as young up and coming players from the continent and elsewhere, and should we survive, and you’d have to think we will, given we should ultimately have enough to finish above the 3 promoted sides and Burnley and possibly Leeds, then the market will really open up for us.

I’m not convinced we’ll even be in for the names touted.

No DOF, are we getting one?

Manager has already said he aint looking.

Will the PIF want a marquee signing or will they go quietly about there buisnes?

I’ve said before and I still think the same, can’t see us spending much more than £50m.

As you’ve mentioned loans, option to buy and a cpl permanent signings.

Could speculate on who but that all it is.

    I haven’t seen Eddie’s vision yet.

When you see the professionalism and efforts of the new coaches and team you have to wonder what the hell the three amigoes did to justify their crust.
The fact that Bruce loaded a contract that resulted in an eight million pound pay off seems very strange. That’s half a million more that Ole Sulkster received.

It all depends on who is available. Older players I’d want to steer clear of as our squad especially at the back is fairly aged. I understand the sentiment on who is available and increasing the quality but there are good championship players that would improve us, be hungry and be used to the physicality of the league. It wouldn’t surprise me if Eddie has spent his time off scouting the lower leagues for potential gems

Predictions for Arsenal: front 3 unchanged. A mid that includes Hayden. And dubs to come back. I just don’t know if he’ll persist with 3 at the back or 4

We should definitely be in for Kondogbia from Atletico. Initial loan. Atletico I doubt would turn their nose up at a sizeable loan fee for a squad player, given their financial predicament.

On the bench again tonight. Gets playing time here and there.

This was his tackles and interceptions stats in his last season at Valencia before moving to Atletico in November last year when Atletico got some kind of pass to sign him outside normal transfer window as PArtey’s replacement – https://twitter.com/DomC0801/status/1286761760578568202/photo/1

Athletic, big unit, gets around well and wins the ball, and can play a bit too and make stuff happen.

Last time Shelvey had a player like that beside him was Diame and they did well together.

Not sure exactly when Howe was at Atletico studying them, whether it was before or after Kondogbia’s arrival.

He’s surely made some contacts there though now, which makes him and the likes of Trippier more believable than most rumours.

Trippier ruled out with a bad shoulder injury until Jan now though, apparently.

I’ve been arguing against Shelvey in the 11 for years it seems, at least sitting deep, but only because we don’t have the players to “carry” him defensively. We get a top notch defensive central mid and centre back though in January and that changes, then Shelvey becomes a real asset for us. I like the way Tindall says we all attack together and all defend together, Shelvey does what he can defensively, but you do need defensive quality behind him and alongside him to make playing him viable in this league.

I don’t think we will get a big name but I’m sure there will be plenty of lesser lights to choose from. Hopefully our DOF is hired and working in the background to get us good quality, energetic players with skill.
