Report – Newcastle Get Bargain Buy For Kieran Trippier

There were multiple reports out yesterday that Newcastle have (almost) agreed a deal of £25M (with add-ons) to bring Kieran Trippier to Newcastle and make him the very first signing for Newcastle’s new (very rich) regime.

Trippier missed training at Atlético Madrid yesterday, which adds to the hope he could be on his way to Newcastle.

The next big news we should wait for is that he’s actually on his way to Newcastle or he has arrived on Tyneside to undergo a medical and sign across the dotted line.

But there’s more good news this morning from the Mail’s Craig Hope.

Hope says Newcastle will sign the 35 times capped 31-year-old England International for an initial fee of only £12M and there will be various add-ons, depending on how he does at Newcastle.

If this is true, it would be a terrific deal for the Tyneside club.

Ir would also show the recrutiment  team we have in place has some (very) good negotiating skills.

If this report is true, it will reflect well on Nick Hammond and Steve Nickson, and the capture of Trippier would help bring in other top players before the end of the month.

If we indeed get Trippier, he will be almost a hero from the start of his Newcastle career, because he is the first top player to commit his future to the club, given our rather perilous position – second bottom – in the Premier League.

He will be an absolutely stupendous (that means very good)  acquisition for us – if we can get him.

🙂

Here’s hoping !!!!!!

Conte would probably have wanted to be our manager if we were in the top half.
These elite managers don’t take risks on their careers and reputations can be lost very quickly at top level.
Mourinho lost his at Spurs and Rafa’s losing his. Rangnik is fast losing his at Man U, although he didn’t nave a great cv anyway.
One bad choice and they’re gonners. When we were a top 6 club they all wanted to come; Gullit, SBR, Dalglsh and Souness they all wanted to come, but with the exception of SBR they left here having failed and never came back!

I’m really not sure. I think it’s a combination of factors, a) he seems pretty settled banging goals in for Rangers, b) I think they want a hefty wedge for him in and around £30m when he was last on the market if I remember and c) his disciplinary issues may put prospective buyers off.

I’ve always been a fan of the way he plays and would love to see him test his skills in the PL

Yes, seem too much. According to some calculations, we can spend max 200 millions pounds this year ( Winter and Summer ).

So half of that on one player ( and just the Fee by the way)…

The Dyslexic God… no sure probably likely to be just the one but I could see each being slowly phased in. Diego first and botman slowly brought in. I still see lascelles organising.

Most calculations regarding how much we “can” spend this January are misrepresentations. I’ve seen figures quoted that were based on our FFP allocation over the next 5 years for example. So that would mean we can only spend what we make up until that point. To comply with FFP, it’s crucial that the club generates some additional avenues of revenue and is smart with contracts, transfers, bonuses etc.

The figures I’ve seen around create extra misrepresentation. One article says it’s £225m over the next 5 years, another points out that it could be £225m in January, then it becomes £1b over 5 years.

Don’t believe everything you read folks…

Moonraker15 – Nah, I think Kets is a harmless WUM. I actually suspect that he’s the alter ego of someone else on this blog but I’ve never considered who that might be.

I think he’s just letting loose and saying silly things for the craic.

Here’s a stat that shows 100% how and what we need, our defense is utter shite.

Newcastle have now lost 19 points from winning positions this season, with the draw at home to Manchester United last week the latest example.
If we would have won those games we would be in like 8th place now.

It’s clear we address this first, still go and get Digne and another CB.

This will show other players that we mean business, shoring up that area is a must, I could see a possible keeper sneak into the transfer picture, one midfielder ( play maker that can also score ) and one striker, two would be a dream come true.

Let’s hope we get at least three in by Watford game, all players by then would be the greatest transfer window by any team ever.

No you are very wrong, if you take part in criminal activity, what are you? A potential criminal.

When you get convicted then you are a convicted criminal, until then you are a criminal.

He took the country to war for oil profits. Lots of people lost their lives because of him.

People need to be held accountable.

So i think again you are being hypocritical.

For instance, the thing i hate more than anything is when someone pulls anyone’s spelling mistakes up, I’m dyslexic as many on here know, i spell phonetically and i struggled all the way through school because of bullies and embarrassment.
My daughter has Autism my brother suffers from Schizophrenia, yet the amount of people on here that call or others without any one of you saying stop.

It seems when it suits you, then you will pipe up.

It’s great watching all the comments and the reactions to news feeds, and the opinions thereafter…we’ve never had this kind of thinking / reaction since the Keegan management era…and here we are again with a bottomless pit of money that’s offering all sorts of kings ransoms, yet no-one through the door.

I think that’s a reflection of where we are in the League, not necessarily where we are as a club…if we were currently sitting mid-table I’d strongly believe we’d have had 2 over the line by tomorrow and training with Ed on Thursday.

But we are where we are, this window will be a struggle, and unfortunately we won’t get many over the line until the end of the window.

I do find it funny when clubs say “this player is not for sale unless we get silly money”

Well at this point we’ve already established the player is for sale, all that needs to be negotiated is the price and the player agreeing to come…because quite frequently terms with clubs can be agreed, but the players just don’t come.

And that right there’s our problem…we are building and they will come…but not all will come right now…well not until we’re safe anyway.

Some will come this window, I think we’ll end up with enough coming by the end of the window to keep us up…but we won’t have the luxury of 5 new players before we play Watford that’s for sure…I’d say 2 max!

So again we have to do it the hard way…but isn’t that always the way at NUFC! 🙂 🙂

    That Diego Carlos is strong, fast and very hard on the tackle. I think he’d be perfect for the Premier League;

Yedlin’s a more influential player than Trippier. So underrated, it’s unreal.

If he didn’t play for Sunderland, you’d all be agreeing that he’s a better player than Trippier.
