Local Lad Set For Championship Loan Spell – Report

Chris Wood is expected to complete his move to Newcastle this afternoon. He traveled to Tyneside last night after his release clause was triggered. The 30-year-old Kiwi will become the second signing of the new era.

Newcastle are still working on a deal for 19-year-old Hugo Ekitike. However, the negotiations have been described as complicated with Reims wanting a lot for their prized striker.

While Newcastle had hoped to have a striker and a center-back in this week, it looks like it will only be Chris Wood through the door. Newcastle’s top target Sven Botman will likely be out of reach this window.

There could be some outgoing movement this week. The Athletic is reporting that local lad Elliot Anderson is set to join Luton Town on loan until the end of the season. The Championship club were rebuffed in their attempts to land the attacking midfielder last January.

Both Matty Longstaff and Rodrigo Vilca returned from their loan spells at the beginning of the month. Longstaff picked up an injury late last year and Eddie Howe has yet to take a look at the local midfielder.

Both Longstaff and Vilca are likely to head back out on loan. There is interest in Vilca from Alianza Lima in his native Peru. Newcastle currently have Kelland Watts, Lewis Cass, Jake Turner, Oisin McEntee, and Tom Allan out on loan.

This is an excellent decision to get Anderson some much-needed experience. He was kept behind last season. While he made his Newcastle United debut, he was handed only two substitute appearances by the season’s end.

    Bus…

When all forwards are fit. Honestly, I prefer Wilson playing off Wood if playing 2 upfront. Joelinton and Wilson flanking Wood if 3. Wilson have the vision to setup goals for his partner too, seen glimpse of it. ASM can take his time to learn on the bench.

So it’s all gone completely quiet on Lingard and Tarkowski??

Wonder who else has a release clause . . .

Yeah agree with it all mate I actually don’t currently think we have the personnel to fully go 4231 or 442 and that a 343 would offer us the best solution

We don’t have a modern day left back until Lewis is fit or we buy a new one so we are always at a disadvantage in a back 4 Dummett can play left back but he isn’t good in possession and his body can’t take the constant up and down the flanks

We also don’t have a defensive midfielder which I feel you need to protect a back 4 but in a 343 Joelinton and another could be the 2 box to box midfielders needed

They wouldn’t of found out about the release clause if we didn’t sign Trippier.

Fair play to the agent he will make a good whack off the pair of Trippier and Wood

A lot of the time when I watch us it still feels like we are playing a game that suits someone like Rondon but I don’t think Wilson is that kind of striker

Wood is though his hold up play for Burnley is excellent and he is better in the air than Wilson so we may be able to keep possession better and bring people into the game more its still going to require the other attackers to get their finger out and score goals though

Morning mate. Nothing new as yet. I think Wood will be tied up today and hopefully a CB before the weekend. That looks the aim of the owners.

No doubt we will be linked with a good few new names today.

Just seen Denis Zakaria apparently available for €6M could be an option for us.

Thanks mate, lets hope we sign a centre back that gives us the same sort of confidence across the team that players like Van Dijk give. How different it is to be dropping £30m+ on a centre back vs the Ashley regime

    Onwards and upwards 🙂
