Newcastle Go After Top Central Midfielder – Challenge Red Devils

The Mail are reporting today that Newcastle United are interested in signing Leipzig central midfielder Amadou Haidara.

The 23-year-old is rated very highly and Manchester United have him as a target, so it may be difficult the youngster to join Newcastle.

He joined Leipzig back in 2019 from Austrian club Red Bull Salzburg, and he has so far played 101 games for the German club, with 10 goals and 6 assists.

Haidara is reckoned to be one of the best up-and-coming footballers in world football.

He would not be available in January since he is currently away on International duty with Mali at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Haidara has let people know that Manchester United were his favorite club as a boy, so if there is a decent offer from the Red Devils, it’s difficult to see how Newcastle can get this one over the line.

The very fact Newcastle are trying, shows the level of ambition of our new owners.

It’s been reported he has a £33M release clause in his contract, and it seems the only way Newcastle can beat out the Red Devils is by outbidding them and then persuading the player to come to Newcastle, the richest club in the world.

That’s even though at the moment, we are still second-bottom of the Premier League.

We will keep our eye on this one, and we do have all month to sign the player, but as Neil points out – the summer may be a more likely timeframe to bring him in.

What do you think about this?

That makes more sense. I wondered why I couldn’t find Fitz Hall amongst their clients! Also, I thought it was weird that Hall would still be playing these days 🙂

    Anyone watching the AFCON?
Watch SSN if you can and see what happens in the Tunisia v Mali game.
“Unbelievable Jeff” doesn’t even begin to cover it .
    Totally mindboggling 😆

Tom – it was a bit of a tongue in cheek joke really…no need to take it so seriously.

And yes, I did threaten to report OP because I was sick to the back of my teeth of him constantly posting on unrelated and controversial topics that were disrupting the blog.

I don’t think the ref will be taking charge of anymore games in the tournament 🙂

I watched that earlier. It was like amateur hour from the ref. I’d be surprised if he’s put in charge of another game.

And just like every other game of this tournament (bar a 2-1 and two 0-0’s) it finished 1-0! Arsenal should sign a bunch of these players.

There was a lot of coverage before the AFCON on SSN, mainly African retired players wanting the tournament to be taking more seriously.
After watching todays farce and seeing the size of the crowds (I’ve seen more at a Spartans match) they are having a laugh surely..

AFCON is the most boring big football tournament on the planet, it`s true, most games are so bloody boring ending 1-0 with crowds that resemble a Sunday morning lge.
I won`t be losing any sleep over not being able to watch that shite.

I think and hope, probably nievly that we can get botman and Diego Carlos. In this system we can switch to a back 3. Getting the best out of trippier and matt Ritchie. We need a holding midfielder to protect that back 3 and in my opinion another quality centre forward. Is duvan zapata an option? Or is he way out of our league? If we can pick up a win against Watford and they draw there game in hand with Burnley is it going to help our case signing players as we would be out of relegation places.

SSN claiming Ekitike and defender Beginning with M who picked up an injury at Weekend BOTH WANT to come to Newcastle.

Negotiations ongoing for both, fairly advanced for the young striker, fee agreed, French club just want higher up front payment. Staged payments agreed over 4/5 years of contract.

Sounds promising, if they actually know owt. 🙂

I’m not sure why the crowd are small at the game. I guess it’s just overpriced. But it means a lot to the people of Africa and shouldn’t be undermined

Priority is a fullback and playmaker
    We have neither.
Surely we cannot play Richie again.
We have nobody in midfield who can go past a player and then see the pass. We have dribblers who see nothing or statues. All well and good talking about Tripps crossing but who drives us up the pitch to get Tripps or Murphy in the right position?

I’d get Yedlin and Mbabu in and let Trippier and Manquillo go in the summer.
