Newcastle continue to work on multiple deals this Wednesday evening. The push currently is to bring in two center-backs along with Reims striker Hugo Ekitike. The two center-backs being targeted at the moment appear to be Diego Carlos and Benoit Badiashile.
The Telegraph reported earlier today that an improved bid of £28m has been offered for Carlos. While some reports in Spain say Sevilla have rejected it, that has not been confirmed domestically.
Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth is reporting that both Ekitike and Badisashile are keen to come to Tyneside. He believes that Newcastle are inching towards an agreement for Ekitike per a report that can be heard here.
?? "The player does want to come to Newcastle."
?? "He's very highly rated."
Dharmesh Sheth says #NUFC already have a payment structure worked out for Hugo Ekitike ?? pic.twitter.com/uJaRJniKjR
— Sky Sports Premier League (@SkySportsPL) January 12, 2022
Importantly, Sheth is being told that the 19-year-old wants the move. Newcastle are willing to offer a whopping £27m plus £3m in add-ons for the Frenchman to be paid in installments over the next five years.
Ekitike will not return on loan to Reims but join Newcastle’s first team if the deal can get completed. It looks promising as Sheth is reporting the two clubs are very close to reaching an agreement.
Newcastle appear to have made significant progress on multiple fronts over the past 24 hours. It was just last night that they triggered Chris Wood’s release clause with the 30-year-old set to be unveiled imminently.

Regarding the offside for kane
I assumed that maybe it was the lad who played kane thru who was ruled offside coz as ball was played to kane rudiger had all ready started running back to goal and in the they showed for var,as the ball was played thru to kane, u could chelsea player on 6 yard line….unless I’m not up to date on off side rule …thought the defender is playing kane onside?

Comment #88Interesting that the Digne to Villa deal is quoted as being worth “up to £25M”.
I thought it was reported that they wanted £40M for him??
Or was that just “our price”? 🙂

Comment #89Happy Birthday Jail and Snowdone!
I think we’re gonna get Cantwell. He was missing from the squad today again after their manafer said he’ll play a part. Strange.
I believe we want him and will be our 3rd signing.

Comment #90We can forget about Norwich now they are going down, all we need to do is finish on top of the little mini league which involves Burnley Watford and ourselves, i think i can safely say we would all be simply delighted to finish 17th this season, christ i`m following Ashleys blueprint, as the late Jimmy Greaves used to say Football is a funny old game HWTL

Comment #91“WARNING TAKE WITH A PINCH OF SALT”
Woods has passed his medical & personal terms complete – 80k a week 2.5 yr option one further year
Announcement tomorrow morning
Botman deal still on the table we emailed Lille again today
28m bid knocked back for Carlos they want 40m
35m will get him
3rd bid going in tomorrow
launched a move for RB Leipzig midfielder Amadou Haidara he wants £150k a pw 35-40m
Talks to continue tomorrow
Burnley are going in for Seko Fofana but Newcastle are going for him too
Tod Cantwell deal is set up
Problem is there’s no release clause
So it’s up to Norwich to give Nufc a green light
Nufc will pull the plug and move on if it’s not accepted tomorrow
Our agents are talking to Nico Schlotterbeck & Marcos Senesi agents trying to negotiate a deal early stages but ones to watch, these could heat up fast
Marouane Fellaini agents offering his services to us
Ekitike is advanced
Player happy with what Nufc offer (personal terms)
It’s a case of agreeing a price which we are about 5m off there asking price and how we are going to pay for him as we are offering 25m upfront but they want 35m and will accept payments

Comment #92If Cantwell is our third signing, that’s a troubling downward spiral in class after starting well…
Tripper, then Wood, then Cantwell???
How about a proper purple signing!!!!
Let’s send an appropriate message that shows our intentions…let’s make a proper signing…please!
Onwards and upwards

I’ve got no doubt in my mind, by the end of the window we will all be very happy with the who we’ve brought in.
I do feel that frustration and eagerness tho but just trying to keep calm and always keep the faith. Served me well so far 😉

Comment #104@ Jp re Kane disallowed goal.. you need to have at least two players in front of the ball when you receive it to be onside. Since keeper had pushed forward.. there was only one Chelsea player ahead of Kane. Hence offside.

Comment #108There does seem to be an increase of spectator health emergencies at footy games of late. My plan is to peg out just after we’ve lifted the champions league. Something like that will be just too much for many of us.

Comment #109On the var offside decisions, these lines are ridiculous. There should be a bigger margin as Kane for example was getting NO advantage from his position with one inch of his boot offside.

The Spanish super cup just been played in Saudi and final on Sunday In Saudi wants happened with human rights protests etc yet again double standards and massive jealousy
If one player I would go out for is hadaira from Leipzig played for Mali today and looked cool and calm especially for an African

The law states that a player is in an offside position if any of their body parts, except the hands and arms, are in the opponents’ half of the pitch, and closer to the opponents’ goal line than both the ball and the second-last opponent (the last opponent is usually, but not necessarily, the goalkeeper).
