Newcastle Unlikely To Have Another Transfer Breakthrough Before The Weekend

Eddie Howe will give his press conference ahead of Watford on Friday. It will be interesting to hear the team news with so many players missing over the past few weeks due to injuries and Covid.

Howe, of course, has two new arrivals with Kieran Trippier confirmed last Friday and Chris Wood in the door this morning. Trippier made his debut against Cambridge in the FA Cup last weekend.

Wood trained with the lads today so any ill-effects from the groin injury he suffered in Burnley’s 2-1 FA Cup defeat against Huddersfield appears to be minimal. The striker was replaced at half-time.

Newcastle’s push to land a center-back this week appears to have come up short. There’s no movement on our pursuit of Diego Carlos or Benoit Badiashile. Sevilla are reluctant to sell their defender while Monaco want upwards of £50m for Badiashile.

There has also been no reported progress in talks for Hugo Ekitike. Newcastle were reportedly close to a deal to bring the 19-year-old prodigy to Tyneside. The striker missed Reims’ 0-0 stalemate at Clermont Foot on Sunday due to a red card suspension.

A couple of midfielders have hit the headlines today. The Manchester Evening News is reporting that Donny van de Beek’s representatives have sounded out both Newcastle and Dortmund over their interest in the Dutchman. On Wednesday, Luke Edwards reported that both Van de Beek and former-Magpie Giorginio Wijnaldum have come up in discussions on Tyneside.

At the moment, Manchester United are unwilling to sanction an exit for van de Beek while Wijnaldum has been linked with Arsenal. Both would be excellent loan signings but will probably not move until late in the window, if at all.

On Wednesday, The Mail reported that Newcastle were interested in RB Leipzig’s Amadou Haidara. However, the 23-year-old’s £33m release clause is not active until the summer.

There is another report today that Newcastle may try to land the box to box midfielder in this window. If Newcastle can convince Leipzig to sell the Mali international for a reasonable fee in January, this could be one to watch in the coming weeks.

For many, the focus is narrowing in on the six-pointer against Watford. Newcastle are desperate for three points and could climb out of the bottom three with a victory.

    Jail,

The lone arranger is still at the club? He was another tràitor that jumped into bed with the fat Leach. Needs to go as he is part of the last regime. It has to be all washed away from the club.

    Fenham,

You’re not being very fair there, shola might not be the most popular with fans because of his association with the previous regime, but he is a former player who gave a lot to our club and deserves our respect.

    JP,
    Absolutely no 😥
When I first talked to him and he said he was a steward, I thought, here we go. Told me the land behind the club that Ashley sold had gone bankruptct and that the club had re-bought it, then in the next breath that we were planning on building a new ground on the town moor.Turns out he’s actually as thick as foot 😕

well i think he got sent off it was a cup game a while back now

its not about what he has done who he is but is he good at his job
seeing that we never seem to be abloe to loan out our players or they goto to clubs that then dont play them like matty

i dont think he is good at his job and should got rid it may work out when we have a dof in place he may fetch the tea

Never forgive Shola for what he done regarding Ashley, could have easily waited and got behind the new owners.

    NY Mag,

I totally appreciate what you are saying, as he is a local lad brought up a few streets away from myself. However he did side with Ashley, and on another note not sure that he does well as the man in charge of loans.

Ok that’s me definitely off to bed. Good night NY Mag, although it’s not so late where you are 😉

To be honest the training facilities they use in their trip to Saudi will be light years ahead of ours. Might turn them into completely different and better players in that short 2 weeks using actual good equipment lol

    Beer,

What’s the qualifications for a good loan arranger?
Is there a university course in that?

Shoal spent his entire career at NUFC, does that not qualify him to understand the transition from youth to first team?

I have no qualifications or experience in such things, if you have more experience than shola then please put yourself forward.

I did wonder about more modern facilities, just think it’s a weird time to go right at the end of the transfer window, can’t imagine Howe will be that pleased.

If Haidara really has a £33m release clause that kicks in this summer, wouldn’t RBL snap someone’s hand off for a big offer now rather than waiting for the summer and knowing they’ll only get £33m?

Or is the thought that they think they can keep him with a new, improved contract?

i think the only success out of loaning out our players has been woodman

all the players we have out on loan dont seem to improve or they are at clubs that dont suit the player

a player mentioned on here alot kelland watts plays league one should be in the champo he is 22

i do think there is more to our poor form loaning and bringing through players than just shola

    You doing OK?

    Not being detrimental, just curious?

My team seems to be better for this week (In so far as double games) but still pretty weak

If Andy Carrol is fit, finding some form and is available on a free transfer at the month end get him back in.
Ditch Gayle and then Burnley can go whistle.
We only give him a 4 month deal back at his home club and he’s cover as the extra striker we need until Wilson’s back fit.

The trip to Saudi will showcase to the players what facilities they can expect at Newcastle in the future. Fly in the bigger names we are looking to buy and built it and they will come.
    Its called ambition and vision.

    Beyond Debenhams boy’s comprehension.

    Beer,

There’s been an institutionalized level of failure, not necessarily put down to one person (although, I understand why someone has to be blamed)

We’ve moved on from that…..if he’s still around, than he has my best wishes to be successful, if he’s moved on then he has my best wishes regardless 🙂

Dkillers – that’s what I thought. Offer them a £40 / 45m offer now and they’ll surely accept rather than risking the player reject their advances for a new contract and lose him for £33m in the summer.

We will know more when we have appointed a dof
Part of his remit will be the academy
And the dof can’t do it all so we will need someone to liaise with players and our club while they are away

Nymag, I never really rated him as a player, except he always played well in European games, and of course against Sunderland, he did say things about Ashley which we didn’t agree with, but so did everyone who worked for him. He was the owner, what else were they going to say.

I was impressed with three of the Cameroon players tonight.

Aboubakar, who I think were after at some point.

    Anguissa (Fulham?)

And Tolo who I know nowt about but who looks good at left back, big, strong, skillful and fast!
