Newcastle Tracking Brother Of Recent Academy Addition To Boost Attacking Options – Report

Last year, Newcastle added teenager Shaun Mavididi to the Academy. The promising young forward linked up with the U18s after leaving Arsenal. Hopefully, he’ll be one to breakthrough in the coming years.

The Mail is reporting that Newcastle may turn to Shaun’s older brother, Stephy, as an attacking option this month. The 23-year-old also started with Arsenal before signing for Juventus in 2018.

After not breaking through with Juve, Mavididi joined Ligue 1’s Montpellier in 2020 for around £3.5m. He has since bagged 15 goals playing primarily on the left wing but can also play as a striker.

The former England U20 international is rated at around £15m and is being tracked by both Brighton and Crystal Palace. Mavididi has 6 goals and 3 assists in 18 appearances this term.

Newcastle are currently working on a deal to land Reims’ teenage sensation Hugo Ekitike. The 19-year-old striker has been touted as a future superstar. Though the sample size is extremely small with just 18 first-team appearances.

With Chris Wood through the door, the need for another striker has been relaxed somewhat. However, Newcastle want to add another with Ekitike currently the preferred option. Though with him being only 19, maybe a third attacker could be on the agenda.

Mavididi could be seen as a potential economical option to come in as cover upfront. Ekitike will cost around £30m and a move may take towards the end of the window to complete. Especially with recent reports that PSG have entered the race.

Gutted when he did but can’t blame him tbh. Finished 5th and all the club does is bring in Anita. That’s enough for any ambitious footballer to think I want out of here. I don’t hold any bad feelings towards any player who left during the Ashley era. Gutted as we could of built on from that and kept going but we just fell further back 🙁

TDS, but most fans are dreamers you are pragmatic (i think that’s the word) you don’t seem to have that thrill of being able to think we can get who ever we want, I know that it can’t happen until we have survived and make our way up the league, but it’s just the fact one day hopefully soon, we will get our dream team, and win something.

    Adamn,
Thanx for the Cisse memory, i was at that chelsea game…a whole bunch of their fans started to leave early, when they knew they were beaten, so we started to rib them…but the most mental thing happened…they turned and clapped us…presumably, for the team’s excellent display, we well beat them and, i think, ‘cos we made more noise than them all game.
Gotta say, my respect for their support went up a couple of notches that evening.
What a game…and what can you say about those 2 amazing Cisse goals?
    Just wow!
What an honour to witness them!
    Cheers.

As the weekend approaches my optimism grows. Prediction has gone from 0-0 to 2-1 to 3-0.
