Newcastle Linked With Skilled But Inconsistent French Attacker – Report

Newcastle have been linked with a move for Ludovic Blas of Nantes. This comes from a Daily Star exclusive by Jacques Talbot, who also writes for The Mirror and The Guardian among others.

According to Talbot, Newcastle have engaged in transfer talks for the 24-year-old Frenchman, though that may be jumping the gun a bit. Watford are also supposedly trying to bring the player in this month.

Blas is a versatile attacking threat from multiple areas of the pitch. He generally plays as either an inverted winger on the right or a second striker. This season he has been in decent form with 8 goals in his 20 appearances.

The former French U20 international joined Nantes in September of 2019. He has since made 87 appearances with an impressive 26 goals and 7 assists. Interestingly, he is represented by CAA Base, who also represent both Kieran Trippier and Chris Wood.

He previously played for Guingamp rising through their Academy to become their youngest player to appear and score in Ligue 1. He first made a name for himself in the U19 Euros in 2016 helping France to the title with 2 goals and 2 assists.

His performances as a youth prospect had him on the radar of Liverpool, AC Milan, and Lyon. Liverpool and AC Milan’s interest continued as recently as last year with Juventus also having an interest.

Blas is undoubtedly a talented player who can dazzle audiences with his skills. However, he runs hot and cold and has failed to fulfill his early promise as a potential full French international.

It remains to be seen if Newcastle are actually after Blas in this window. He is probably on head of recruitment Steve Nickson’s expansive list of players. However, whether he is a top target for January seems questionable.

Talking about books, Bob Mortimer’s autobiography’And Away’ is fantastic. Highly recommend it. It’s a quick and easy read but it’s a good laugh.

    Meant to say…..

Hope you have a magic day MAGIC and the Toon put on a great performance for you and your Man U friend.

3 – 0 to us would be great but I’d settle for 2 – 0 and three points!

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang out of game against Ghana with ‘heart lesions‘.

Yikes. I think we can take PEA off our transfer list of targets then.

Me either pal. I think we both agreed before that we think all he needs is somewhere new to be loved and a new playground to showcase on. It’s worth a punt as a loan signing. The lad has ability that can’t be questioned but it’s his attitude that needs sorting. I’d like to see him in black and white

TDS must be one of these New Age snowflakes that have advanced their theory on climate change:

Weather extremes, ranging from very hot one minute to very wet the next, are symptoms that Mother Earth is going through the menopause. He is hoping that someone pees on him so he turns yellow and disappears.

I agree mate but I’m sat here thinking of the player he was and remember thinking at the time wow this lad is next level. Fast forward and he has nowhere near realised his potential yet. He has lost his way somewhere down the line but the ability is still there and sometimes players just need a fresh start and a new challenge to relight that fire.

Good point but in our position can we risk it, if we stay up and still have the chance in the summer then yes and as Mund said his ability is still there and we’ll have more time to take the risk

I’d rather have Ramsey as well, no question. I think reports will come out next week on Ramsey’s future. I like the idea of the Ramsey in my head but is he that player still? Can he stay fit? No matter what I’d still take the risk.

    Amazing, isn’t it?
We were totally disrespectful towards the last guy and his employer, yet here we are reading the total disrespect for fellow pros and our club.
Such rank hypocrisy, who’d a thunk?
