Dummett, Lascelles, And Wood Start Against Watford

Here is the team Eddie Howe has named for today’s pivotal match against Watford. It has three changes from last weekend’s FA Cup defeat with a debut for Chris Wood and Paul Dummett’s return.

Howe has both new signings in the starting eleven in what again appears to be a 4-3-3. Paul Dummett comes in at left-back with Matt Ritchie making way.

The bench is without Dwight Gayle, Jeff Hendrick, or Ciaran Clark though Jamal Lewis returns to the matchday squad. Young Elliot Anderson makes the bench once again.

This is who Claudio Ranieri has named for the visitors with former Magpie Moussa Sissoko as captain.

Newcastle have a golden opportunity to climb out of the relegation places with a win today. They’ve been in short supply with just one in this campaign.

Watford are struggling with seven straight defeats and missing some key players. It’s getting close to now or never and Newcastle need to start winning these types of matches.

Don’t like this shape with this personnel.

Should be 4-4-2 with Ritchie LW, Murphy RW and ASM central off Wood, sucking players in and making space for the winger + Trippier.

Schar lofting it long to Fraser of all people ffs.

Use your noggin, Wood is right there.

The defence is not good but it looks worse because the utterly useless midfield gives it no cover

Worried about Watford’s three new players. They’re all unknowns in this league. They could struggle or alternatively they could play out of their skins to prove themselves.

The quick high press is still what is winning us so many balls back the last several games…just need to capitalize on them.

One of these long balls getting pinged up there is going to land sweetly at some point for either Wood or ASM. Fingers crossed!

Too many easy giveaways in midfield here. We’re going to get punished if we can’t tighten up and pass it more accurately.

and the better the players we get around ASM he can either make himself look so much better or so much worse….so far it is leaning towards the latter.

I love Saint Max…but I must admit I am finding him more and more frustrating….he usually has atleast 2 players on him….and he still trys to take them on in totaly unnecessary areas of the pitch
