Here is the team Eddie Howe has named for today’s pivotal match against Watford. It has three changes from last weekend’s FA Cup defeat with a debut for Chris Wood and Paul Dummett’s return.

Howe has both new signings in the starting eleven in what again appears to be a 4-3-3. Paul Dummett comes in at left-back with Matt Ritchie making way.
The bench is without Dwight Gayle, Jeff Hendrick, or Ciaran Clark though Jamal Lewis returns to the matchday squad. Young Elliot Anderson makes the bench once again.
This is who Claudio Ranieri has named for the visitors with former Magpie Moussa Sissoko as captain.

Newcastle have a golden opportunity to climb out of the relegation places with a win today. They’ve been in short supply with just one in this campaign.
Watford are struggling with seven straight defeats and missing some key players. It’s getting close to now or never and Newcastle need to start winning these types of matches.

Comment #201Shola we did that aimless wing play a few weeks ago too. Was on TV. Surely we can start getting some 1-2s going through the middle.

Comment #202We need CMS who can create and score….and can actually run aswell..cough cough Shelvey
I fear this is going down the all to familiar route ..of we can’t score and they will pinch a goal out the blue

Comment #204How predicable are we eh, there is no movement down the channels at all so Watford are on east street atm.
They have more variety in the attacks.
We better pull our fingers out otherwise we will lose this.

Comment #205Definitely take Shelvey off offered nothing in the first half he can’t run with the balk at all and Longstaff is useless so far.
We need Central Midfielders badly

Comment #206Fraser and Tripper seem to have and understanding on the right. On the left it’s just too slow.

Comment #207Our midfield is rank. Willock could do a job but is he up to it?

Comment #208I think we’re playing well and could be 2-0 up.
Got to keep this up 2nd half and hope our hard work comes off.
Norwich winning 2-0 isn’t helping my nerves.

Comment #209Watford defending well, sods law they’d find a way to do that against us. Decent effort from us first half, its apparent there is a lack of quality rather than effort in key positions which is no surprise. Longstaff shouldn’t get a look in really. ASM frustrating at times but I still love him as he could score a raker from nothing and we’d all instantly forgive his ball greedy instincts. Joelinton and Trippier our predictable best so far. Good to see Wood getting physical, daft to judge him on a 45 minute performance I think he’ll be great for us. Please lads just bang one in though

Comment #210Our midfield is too slow and clueless. Longstaff and Shelvey need to be replaced with better players in this window or we’re fkd.

Comment #211Our midfield is useless. No creativity with the ball and worse without it.
We need a marquee attacking midfielder and Hayden to provide the cover

Comment #212Two midfielders are running about putting tackles in making passes taking shots and the other one is err ummm hmm.
We have a forward who can win the ball in air and hold onto it for midfield runners.
Waste of a player sat in front of CBs
