There’s news today in The Times that Brentford have offered Christian Eriksen a six-month contract with possible extensions after that.
The Danish forward had a heart attack and his heart stopped beating, when he was playing for Denmark in the Euro 2020 match group game against Finland.
The 29-year-old former Tottenham midfielder, collapsed with nobody near him, during the 43rd minute of that game, and due to some fast action by the medics – he survived.
The player has since been passed fit to play again, but has been released last month by former club Inter Milan.
The Milan powerhouse had no option but to release him, since the Dane now wears a cardioverter-defibrillator, and that is not allowed in the Italian League.
Newcastle United and Leicester City are the two other Premier League clubs who are rushing to offer him terms to at least play through the rest of this season.
Not sure if Eriksen will join Newcastle, but he could be part of a top club and top team next season if we can get him in and avoid the drop.
As long as nothing unforeseen happens, the Dane can help us big time to survive in the Premier League this season, and we think Newcastle will offer him a very decent wage.
What do you think?

Comment #1I think Brentford is more likely than us because it’s London and I’m sure he has contacts here. But being Danish, he should be ok with the weather up in Newcastle!

Comment #4If he’s even half the quality of player he was a couple of years ago then it would be a brilliant signing and exactly what we need but can’t see it happening.
Either way we need atleast 1 CB and a solid midfielder in before we play Leeds because based on their performance Yesterday against a very good West Ham side, they’ll beat us more than comfortably.

Comment #5As long as he passes all medical checks which i’m sure he will, I say go for it. Free agent who would give our midfield some control and creativity. Don’t see why not as we’re crying out for someone who can unlock a defence or is comfortable on the ball in midfield to dictate play and build attacks.

Comment #7I think we should offer Eriksen better terms than Brentford with a bonus if we avoid relegation. A 6 month contract with possible extension, would not break the bank and would allow us to have a good look round between the close of the January window and the opening of the Summer one.
He is a proven striker and that is something we can sorely do with.

Comment #9If Leicester are in the mix then my bet is he’s well worth a punt and close to full fitness. It’s a risk, but we need to take a few to ensure we stay up.

Comment #10But I guess the worry would be can he cope with the intensity and running that he would have to do especially playing for us

Comment #12Eriksen needs players up front to capitalise on his defence splitting passes.
Not sure if Wood is that type of player. His strength is in the air.
If we can get Zapata in, or someone like him, Eriksen might be a shrewd move, although with his medical history it’d be a bit of a gamble.

Comment #13Ericksen would be class. If he’s fit and can pass a medical, it’s a no brainer for me.

Comment #14Midfield needs sorting before centre backs . Our midfield neither protects the back 4 or goes all out attack . I’d settle for it being one or the other , joelinton aside I’d replace the lot . Just seem slow and not very dynamic at all . Shelvey livened up for a game or 2 but seems to be back to normal again
