Earlier this morning, Fabrizio Romano claimed Newcastle would make a renewed push for Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard today. That could be in the shape of a £5-6m loan fee if
The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards has his finger on the pulse.
According to Edwards, Newcastle will offer the £5-6m loan fee as well as pay Lingard’s £80,000 per week in wages for the final 17 games of the season. That high of a loan fee should be enough to tempt Manchester United into sanctioning the loan.
Incidentally, 90min’s Graeme Bailey is reporting a loan fee of £10 has been offered though that seems extremely high. However, whatever it takes to get the 29-year-old in on loan could be the approach over the next few days.
Edwards also believes that the Aaron Ramsey saga could end with the player becoming a Magpie. Newcastle have received positive feedback from Ramsey’s camp and with Juventus desperate to offload the Wales international, something could develop this week.
Newcastle continue to work on Diego Carlos and are contemplating a late-window push for Burnley’s James Tarkowski. Both moves appear doubtful and Newcastle must find a center-back before the end of the month.
There have been recent links with Southampton duo Mohammed Salisu, a former target when he was with Valladolid in Spain, and Jan Bednarek. Southampton are unwilling sellers so the hunt for a central defender continues on.
Edwards also has some disappointing news in that the move for Bayer Leverkusen’s Mitchel Bakker has collapsed. A source has told him the Dutchman will definitely not be joining Newcastle this month.
Newcastle could be in decent shape at left-back with Jamal Lewis, Paul Dummett, and Javier Manquillo all having good spells there recently. It seems that Matt Ritchie’s day as a fullback could be over.
As of now, the mood is bright on Lingard but less so on defenders. It appears that Joelinton’s injury could keep him out for a stretch which is why Ramsey has suddenly become a focus.

NUFC legends team up for 2022 charity event in Gosforth
Four iconic former Newcastle United Football players are to come together for a special charity event at The Grand Hotel in Gosforth on Friday 8 April 2022. The event will reunite Kevin Keegan’s famous 90s “Entertainers” team, including former star midfielder Rob Lee, famed left-back John Beresford, former Northern Irish winger Keith Gillespie and the club’s legendary centre back and England international, Steve Howey. Featuring an auction, raffle and two-course meal, the charity event – organised by friends and NUFC nuts Les Hancock and Terry Sweeney – will be a smart-casual dinner event aimed at all supporters of the team.
Commenting on the event, John Beresford said: “I’m really looking forward to April 8th when myself, Keith Gillespie, Rob Lee and Steve Howey will head to Gosforth Park where we’re going to have a few reminisces and some entertainment to go with it. We’re going to be telling some funny stories; things you’ve probably never heard before. It’s going to be humorous, let’s put it that way! It’s all for two fantastic causes; Tiny Lives Trust and Wallsend Boys Club. I really can’t wait and I hope to see you there”
The evening is dedicated to the memory of Brian Paddison, a popular Newcastle businessman, charity fundraiser and passionate Newcastle United fan. All proceeds from the event are to go straight to Tiny Lives Trust and the legendary Wallsend Boys Club which has produced over 80 professional football players since its formation, including Alan Shearer, Alan Thompson, Steve Watson and Michael Carrick.
Tickets for the NUFC Legends Charity Evening are priced at £45 and can be purchased via email at lesnufc@yahoo.com or over the phone by contacting organisers Les Hancock on 07779 841293 or Terry Sweeney at 07968 126622.

Comment #41I think there is for sure a budget and it is likely to be in the range of £100-120m.
I also think our riches are causing problems with players themselves.
A lot of those with contracts expiring will be looking at us as not only a potential destination in the summer, but even if they have no interest in joining us, they know they can use our status, subject to us being in the PL, to get more cash elsewhere and agents will have told them this. So why move now? In 6 months not only can you negotiate a larger contract, you can also get a nice lump sum for a signing on fee.
WC being in December doesn’t help either when considering those sat on benches at their clubs currently. Probably think they can afford to wait until next season to start putting in the performances and catch the eye.

Ab-so-f@ckin-lutely!
It’s always this way, regardless…as the press use us as a hit/click machine.
It’s frustrating that some still haven’t sussed this.
Tv co.s know they’ll get viewers, press know they’ll get hits.
Not a big club….lol

Had a feeling you were getting mixed up there fella, i knew you meant Ali though.
This window is getting extremely frustrating for the owners and fans, it`s tougher getting players in than we first thought.
We need at least 3 in imo, a new spine of the team would be great.

Sevilla are working to sign Anthony Martial, with Monchi playing an intense role in their efforts, per
@partidazocope
.
Furthermore, Newcastle have offered €55m for Brazilian CB Diego Carlos, whose agents are negotiating his exit with the Andalusian club.

Comment #47The club mustn’t allow themselves to be strung along. If price and terms not agreed in a day, move on. Really all this needs to be sorted by Wednesday/Thursday, and signings completed by Friday.
We can’t afford to be waiting until 31/1 for say 3 players to complete. Perhaps one if we’ve done 2 this week.

I do think with articles and such they do have some kind of info but it will be 30% and make 70% of it up.
I still enjoy it tho as I never take it seriously and I’d rather be linked to the players we are this January than anything we’ve had before.

Madness if most fans don’t realise this by now. Every one on here should know. Maybe fans who are not on social media might not have a clue but every one else that does surely knows the craic now.

Comment #59By the way. Surprised that more is not being said on here about the turnstile issues in the away end at Leeds. Many fans didn’t get into the ground until 3.25. Scandalous.

Even if it were just a top midfielder and a centre back. We have Wilson back soon so him and wood are more than capable upfront.
Id prefer tarkowski over Carlos simply because he’ll hit the ground running. I understand Carlos is the better player but may take him a few months to settle.

Comment #63I totally agree with whoever said Zakaria over Zapata.
For the price I think it’s a no brainer.
But I’ve said that about Sule and Ginter all window too.
