Newcastle continue to push on a number of fronts in the transfer market today. There was news earlier that Newcastle have offered a significant loan fee to bring Jesse Lingard in on loan.
The amount of the fee varies with The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards believing it to be in the £6m range. Newcastle would also absorb all of Lingard’s £80k/week in wages. This appears to be the deal that has progressed the furthest since last week.
Lingard is not the only target in which talks are currently ongoing. There are some new details emerging in the protracted pursuit of Sevilla’s Diego Carlos. According to Sky Sports’ Kaveh Solhekol, Sevilla will accept a bid of £38m for the 28-year-old defender.
Newcastle’s last bid, which was rejected, was believed to be around £30m. It is a significant jump to reach Sevilla’s demands. However, there are only 8 days left in the window and a lot of time and effort has been expended on these negotiations.
Here is a video of Sky Sports’ update on Carlos.
? Newcastle will have to pay at least €45M if they want to sign Diego Carlos from Sevilla.
? Talks underway again today.

I like the thought of Canavaro in the English game. Don’t know what he is like as a manager, however one of my all time favourite players.
How many centre halves can you think of who were skilled on the ball, were great in the air and 5’9″ tall?
Always wished Bobby Robson had made a bid to get him here back in the day.

Have to laugh on that twitter comment section, some guy called Lingard a “mercenary” haha….. the lads only ever been professionally contracted to one club for his entire career and he’s 29, 11 seasons he’s spent at Man Utd, aye total mercenary material that, some clowns shouldn’t be allowed near keyboards.

To follow on from my “mercenary” post, I just checked the lads profile and he’s a Villa fan with pictures of Coutinho and Digne all over the place haha, you couldn’t make it up!

Comment #15Ashley will be good for Derby. He will turn them into a yo-yo club which is a lot better than current predicament. Most Derby fans might settle for that
For the Toon he was 14 years of utter misery.
Only one English team is certain to deal with a toon in January and they hate us. Spuds. It’s not hard to fathom the reason
