Newcastle have been linked with yet another center-back this evening after Sevilla made their stance on Diego Carlos official. Earlier today, a report from France claimed that Galatasaray’s Marcao had hit Newcastle’s radar.
Now a claim from Sky Germany has Mainz’s Jeremiah St. Juste on Newcastle’s center-back shortlist. According to the report, talks are underway and the Dutchman is valued at £12.5m, the same fee being touted for Marcao.
St. Juste is a versatile defender who can push up into the midfield or slot out on the right. He has been compared to French international and Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard.
He is considered a very intelligent defender but stands just 6′ tall so does not have the aerial prowess of some of our other targets. However, the 25-year-old is blessed with blistering pace which Newcastle sorely lack at the back.
The 25-year-old joined Mainz from Feyenoord in 2019 and has racked up 69 appearances in Germany. He is a former Netherlands U21 international and was called up to the full national team this past March but has yet to be capped.
Newcastle are in the hunt for possibly two center-backs with Brighton’s Dan Burn still under consideration after an opening bid was rejected. The Blyth-born defender is keen on a return to the north-east.
The deal that appears the most advanced is for Lyon playmaker Bruno Guimaraes. The 24-year-old has been named on the bench in Brazil’s World Cup qualifier at Ecuador. Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano believes an agreement is very close to being reached.
While Bruno Guimarães is on the bench in Ecuador with Brazil, his agents are in talks with Newcastle and OL in order to reach full agreement. Talks progressing, Newcastle confident but still waiting for green light on every single point. Key hours ahead. ???? #NUFC https://t.co/Nj3Wh4ONeH

Comment #13Goosens already gone to inter, and looks like for moderate fee and wages too. Opportunity missed for a full German international but chances are he preferred a move to inter anyways.
Let’s just hope we can get Bakker, Bruno and one or two others before window shuts.

Comment #27I’m kinda hoping we don’t get Ali or Jessie or anyone in the same mould
Bruno in the middle frees up Joe, and we’ve got an abundance of attacking midfielders to fight for their places until the summer when we take a breath and then go again for next level players.
Todays improvements are tomorrows discarded.
I think we’ll get a CB, Bruno, a left back and a striker
Onwards and upwards

Comment #30Joe ain’t great once he gets in that 18 yard box though ….I’d like to see a 3 of guimarche, joe and (hopefully if we can get him firing again) willock then I think we’d have a well balanced, mobile middle with a holder, box to box and one to break the lines.

Funny enough it was the first time I listened to it in months just yesterday. It was tbe breakfast show with Ally McCoist and the other Scot ex Ipswich (his name has skipped me) and they were absolutely calling Rafa out as being a failure at Everton and how well Bruceless did keeping us up. Tbe love in for English managers is embarrassing on talkshite. It’s so fake the show it’s sickly. Love to blow smoke up failures arses and then slander Rafa. Frauds!!!!

Comment #39in days gone by, Man U used to sweep up all the promising kids, and buy players just to stop other teams competing at the top from having them.
That’s the new us! 🙂 🙂
how cool is that!
Would be very funny if we’re spoiling Spuds fun and interfering with their pursuit of Diaz.
