Newcastle United have wrapped up their training game at Al-Ittihad with a 2-1 victory. The match consisted of two 35-minute halves and was played behind closed doors at the Prince Abdullah Al Faisal Stadium.
Eddie Howe started the following lineup which was a mix of regulars and fringe players. Jeff Hendrick and Dwight Gayle got rare run-outs after not featuring much at all this season. Kieran Trippier wore the captain’s armband.

The goals were by Allan Saint-Maximin (9th minute) and substitute Ryan Fraser (57th minute). Newcastle used all substitutes other than Freddie Woodman. Ciaran Clark was handed a straight red card along with Al-Ittihad’s goalscorer Abderazak Hamdallah after a heated scuffle.

Newcastle continue to work on multiple deals as deadline day draws near. The hope is for at least three more signings through the door by Monday evening including Lyon’s Bruno Guimaraes. Head of recruitment Steve Nickson has flown to Brazil to help complete all the formalities.

Fabrizio Romano is also reporting that Lyon have added Tottenham’s Giovani Lo Celso as a potential replacement for the 24-year-old. They are also in talks with Brest over their versatile midfielder Romain Faivre.
