Youngster Heads Out On Loan As Howe Gives Matty Longstaff Update

As we await confirmation of the signing of Bruno Guimaraes, there is some news emerging on a couple of Newcastle’s young midfielders. Newcastle United have confirmed that Joe White will head out on loan to League Two’s Hartlepool for the remainder of the campaign.

The 19-year-old has trained with the first team for the bulk of this season. He’s made the bench on four occasions in all competitions but has yet to make his Newcastle United debut.

The attacking midfielder is out of contract in the summer. However, The Mail reported on Thursday that a new long-term contract has been agreed on. That has yet to be confirmed by the club.

There was significant interest in the youngster from Chelsea, Leeds, Wolves, Celtic, and Rangers so getting the talented midfielder tied down should be a priority. The fact that he has been allowed out on loan bodes well that a new contract is on the horizon.

Here is what White had to say about joining Pools:

“I’m really keen to play first-team football now and once I knew Hartlepool were interested I wanted to come.

“I know the manager wants to play good football and that was one of the key reasons why I wanted to join.

“I want to play as many games as possible between now and the end of the season, scoring and assisting goals and showing the fans what I’m capable of.”

This is an excellent opportunity for Joe to get some first-team experience and we wish him the best of luck.

The Shields Gazette has published some comments from Eddie Howe on another one of his young midfielders, Matty Longstaff. The 21-year-old was recently recalled from his troubled loan spell with Aberdeen, where he made just five appearances.

The local lad featured extensively in training images released by the club from Jeddah. He also got some minutes under his belt as a substitute in the training game against Al-Ittihad on Saturday.

Howe is still running the rule over the Geordie as he said the following when asked about his future:

“We’ll see with Matty. I’ve had limited time to view him and assess him.

“First and foremost, I’ll say he’s very much like his brother, a great lad, really enthusiastic, very passionate about the football club. Very impressed by him as a person and human being.

“In terms of his career going into the latter part of this season, we’ll have to make a decision in conjunction with him and see what the future holds.”

NUFC legends team up for 2022 charity event in Gosforth

Four iconic former Newcastle United Football players are to come together for a special charity event at The Grand Hotel in Gosforth on Friday 8 April 2022. The event will reunite Kevin Keegan’s famous 90s “Entertainers” team, including former star midfielder Rob Lee, famed left-back John Beresford, former Northern Irish winger Keith Gillespie and the club’s legendary centre back and England international, Steve Howey. Featuring an auction, raffle and two-course meal, the charity event – organised by friends and NUFC nuts Les Hancock and Terry Sweeney – will be a smart-casual dinner event aimed at all supporters of the team.

Commenting on the event, John Beresford said: “I’m really looking forward to April 8th when myself, Keith Gillespie, Rob Lee and Steve Howey will head to Gosforth Park where we’re going to have a few reminisces and some entertainment to go with it. We’re going to be telling some funny stories; things you’ve probably never heard before. It’s going to be humorous, let’s put it that way! It’s all for two fantastic causes; Tiny Lives Trust and Wallsend Boys Club. I really can’t wait and I hope to see you there”

The evening is dedicated to the memory of Brian Paddison, a popular Newcastle businessman, charity fundraiser and passionate Newcastle United fan. All proceeds from the event are to go straight to Tiny Lives Trust and the legendary Wallsend Boys Club which has produced over 80 professional football players since its formation, including Alan Shearer, Alan Thompson, Steve Watson and Michael Carrick.

Tickets for the NUFC Legends Charity Evening are priced at £45 and can be purchased via email at lesnufc@yahoo.com or over the phone by contacting organisers Les Hancock on 07779 841293 or Terry Sweeney at 07968 126622.

Hopefully Bruno will be done today and be the statement signing we need to persuade others to join.

Think botman will be done late, Ramsay on loan too.

I can see Lingard going to Everton now Lampard is going there!
Manure will definitely be willing to help them beat us as they have a midfield crisis!

I would be surprised if Lingard didn’t end up with given the Guimarães deal gets completed. Bakker as well. Who will the Center Half be? Burn? Carlos?

At what point do we assume that players from foreign leagues cannot make it before the transfer deadline?

Scott – you could be right. It could be kike Gerard and Digne again. We should try to bring him here somehow. He’s the missing link now with Bruno arriving. We are desperate for that type of player that can score from midfield.

Don’t worry Tom, entrapment makes it a trumped-up change, it’ll never hold in a court of law.

There’s plenty barrack room lawyers on here can represent you. 🙂

There was a bit of a barney last week over who was running the blog narrative.

It reminded me of a time not so long ago when tantrums frequently ensued over the same subject.

And for those who are so easily offended, affronted, outraged or traumatised…

    Remember, it’s only a bit of a laugh….

Since the name ‘Mundette’ first appeared in rhyme
It’s become a term used on here a lot of the time
I thought newbies mightn’t know how it all came to be
So I’ve written this poem to help them now see….

You may think of Mund now as the blog’s defender
But not long ago he had quite a different agenda
He wasn’t impressed with how things were being ran
So his toys were frequently thrown out of the pram

There were tantrums, tears and hissy fits
He demanded posts be removed and censorship
He once considered heading a blog breakaway
Where only people he liked could have their say

But when his two voices began to plot in his head
He thought it better to takeover this one instead
He couldn’t do it alone,  that much he knew
So he set about forming the Mundette crew
    Scheming away in his munderpants
He knew he must surround himself with sycophants
He needed flatterers behind him as he led from the front
To have people support him when he behaved like a c..lemon
If he said black was white they must say it is too
If he was making stuff up they must say that it’s true
If he got something wrong they must say that he’s right
And they must never admit that his mantras are shite

So the revolution was started from his bed
And he began recruiting those who were easily led
Plus a couple of heavies who would act as his muscle
And would jump in for the cause in the event of a tussle

He planned to chip at his adversaries every day
Until they got weak and weary and walked away
To keep ranting and preaching to the infidels
To convert to Mundism or go to hell

At first some resisted but then changed side
Tho’ some still stand firm against the tide
His quest will continue until he holds centre stage
And it reads ‘Mund and Ed’s blog’ at the top of the page
