Newcastle announced the fantastic signing of Bruno Guimaraes earlier this afternoon. The 24-year-old joins Newcastle on a four-and-a-half year contract from Olympic Lyonnaise.
The midfielder is currently on international duty with Brazil but has taken to Twitter to post the following message to Newcastle fans.
Hi @NUFC!!I’m ready for this new challenge ????? pic.twitter.com/lHkLKStnXH

Lyon issued a statement soon after Newcastle’s confirmation. They have revealed that the fee for the Brazilian could top €50m should Newcastle beat the drop over the next two campaigns.
Guimaraes follows Kieran Trippier and Chris Wood through the door. Brighton’s Dan Burn should be the fourth signing of the window after Newcastle agreed on a £13m fee with Brighton earlier today.
It sets the stage for a crazy final day of the window with many potential signings still in play. Luke Edwards, of The Telegraph, is reporting that Newcastle are pushing for two more signings by tomorrow. They are names that not many others are reporting.
Edwards believes Newcastle are in talks to land striker Eddie Nketiah and left-back Matt Targett. Discussions are ongoing with neither Arsenal nor Aston Villa yet convinced to allow their players to leave in this window.
Targett has been touted as a potential ‘target’ since the arrival of Lucas Digne to Villa Park from Everton. Newcastle had other left-backs ahead of the 26-year-old but failed to get either Robin Gosens or Mitchel Bakker over the line.
There was also talk of long-term target Rogerio of Sassuolo becoming an option. However, that route seems to have gone cold over the past few days. Left-back is not as immediate an area of concern as adding another attacker with Callum Wilson’s recent injury history.
There could also be a surprise ending in the hunt for Jesse Lingard. Jordan Cronin of Newcastle World is reporting that Dan Burn and Lingard have been in contact recently. The pair both were on loan with Birmingham City for the 2013-14 season.
So much needs to change for Lingard to happen. Player is very keen, but will Man Utd lower their demands? Burn move is subject to personal terms and passing a medical. #NUFC

Love how we’re getting some very seasoned pragmatic types mixed in with a great sprinkling of magic wow factor guys on board too. Everything just feels so positive now with great owners and a super likeable guy in EH. All the toxicity, anger, bitterness, serial neglect, lethargy and depressive outlook of the previous owner and manager just washed away.

Haha fair enough mate! I admit that is exciting, especially the deals that happen after the deadline as the paperwork was sorted in time. I’m more than happy if we get all our business done early though.
Maybe 1 very last minute out of nowhere deal 😉

For 14 years the Harrison’s have pretty much been able to take the day off on transfer deadline day!
Looks like those days are gone! 🙂 😉
Many thanks for all the work you do!

Carrasco off to Spurs according to Sky.

If Targett arrives then that’s Ritchie gone – in fact he was probably off to Bournemouth anyhow.
So that’s Gayle, Hendrick, Ritchie, Woodman, Clark to go…and which others? I’ve got a horrible feeling that we’ll see Fede leave for some reason because of his injury record this season

I hope Niafron comes along soon and lets us know about this claim on Carrasco.

Ok I’ll compromise and go with everything tied up by tea time and a last minute did it happen or not for Carrasco

Do we renew the squad after the transfer deadline? Meaning can we move players (Hendrick for example) to the reserves if we don’t loan them out?

Something I’ve just learnt: Gil Scott-Heron’s dad played for Celtic.

Yes Dan burn is a slight upgrade on the CB we already have, but will not solve the issue in that position,so hope we’re back in for Carlos or botman

Dubai, yea we need to submit a revised 25 man squad tomorrow. So if we fail to get players out of the squad they’ll still be able to train with the first team but won’t be eligible to play.

Hendrick is in talks with Boro over a loan move, apparently Clark could also join them not sure if that’s on loan or permanent move.
Surely Gayle goes
Anderson and Matty Longstaff hopefully get loan moves sorted
Also think Gillespie could leave, Langley can be 3rd choice.

Oops! Apologies! The news was from a French outlet and I completely forgot that Carrasco plays for Athletico.

Newcastle United Squad
Ekitike doesn’t have to be in the 25 as under 21.

Gil Scott-Heron’s dad played for Celtic?
Now that did surprise me.
Jan 31, 2022 at 10:44 AMComment #464
Yes i seen that… well nothing solid either in French or Belgian Media. They say he could move, but only with the release close of 60 millions euros…
Jan 31, 2022 at 10:47 AMComment #465
About Ekitike, RMC sport deny the informations of the Telgraph. According to them, there’s no agreement.
