Guimaraes ‘Ready’ As Newcastle Push For A Couple More Signings

Newcastle announced the fantastic signing of Bruno Guimaraes earlier this afternoon. The 24-year-old joins Newcastle on a four-and-a-half year contract from Olympic Lyonnaise.

The midfielder is currently on international duty with Brazil but has taken to Twitter to post the following message to Newcastle fans.

Lyon issued a statement soon after Newcastle’s confirmation. They have revealed that the fee for the Brazilian could top €50m should Newcastle beat the drop over the next two campaigns.

Guimaraes follows Kieran Trippier and Chris Wood through the door. Brighton’s Dan Burn should be the fourth signing of the window after Newcastle agreed on a £13m fee with Brighton earlier today.

It sets the stage for a crazy final day of the window with many potential signings still in play. Luke Edwards, of The Telegraph, is reporting that Newcastle are pushing for two more signings by tomorrow. They are names that not many others are reporting.

Edwards believes Newcastle are in talks to land striker Eddie Nketiah and left-back Matt Targett. Discussions are ongoing with neither Arsenal nor Aston Villa yet convinced to allow their players to leave in this window.

Targett has been touted as a potential ‘target’ since the arrival of Lucas Digne to Villa Park from Everton. Newcastle had other left-backs ahead of the 26-year-old but failed to get either Robin Gosens or Mitchel Bakker over the line.

There was also talk of long-term target Rogerio of Sassuolo becoming an option. However, that route seems to have gone cold over the past few days. Left-back is not as immediate an area of concern as adding another attacker with Callum Wilson’s recent injury history.

There could also be a surprise ending in the hunt for Jesse Lingard. Jordan Cronin of Newcastle World is reporting that Dan Burn and Lingard have been in contact recently. The pair both were on loan with Birmingham City for the 2013-14 season.

My view on Kets, if anyone is interested.

His posts don’t bother me at all. Although I think he is full of sh*t. He can’t honestly believe what he is printing. So either he is a WUM or delusional. Either way, he gets to much publicity, as others talk about him.

Just like I am now. Actually he is a genius. 😉

ITUNDERASHELL – it’s clear that Mund is a passionate Toon fan and he and I are very much aligned in our perspectives and expectations of the takeover and the future of our club. We’ve both been optimistic yet patient throughout the window, trusting that the new owners will do what they set out to do, and it looks like our faith was well placed. Mund and I have had good chats too.

It’s each to their own on the Twitter links. I know some like to consume every Toon related news article out there, I’m just not one of those people. I don’t like wasting my time reading made up BS that has just been written to inflate someone’s online profile. Like I say, each to their own and I know several people appreciate Mund reposting them. It’s not for me but the world would be boring if we all liked the same things…

I voted Kets for end of season manager in martoon’s predictions.

Very occasionally he goes a bit Chubby Brown, but in the main he’s Monty Python.

There’s room on the broom for everyone.

Didn’t Kets say he was from Eastern Europe a few days ago?

Don’t think he’s a WUM just likes making daft comments.

Wouldn’t a block button stop the occasional good post a person would like to have seen?

With regards to getting over to Donegal I’ve had it on my bucket list for years. I’ve family I should see on their own turf and my late grandad’s birth place. The C stopped me tbh and that shall change very soon.

Enjoy Spain Magic, u bet you look like Omar Sharif when you get a tan. Lol 😉

Evening chaps and chapesses – I have been on this blog for a long time but don’t always post but pretty much was every day … the blog can be a toxic place where people have little splats and fall out with one another so I can’t be arsed with all that !

Kets has always had left field views and I find them entertaining and take them with a pinch o salt. He’s never as far as I’m aware been one to get personal with other posters so I think it’s water off a ducks back to him!

Shame that over the years we have lost some decent bloggers Ibiza torq toon army down south to name a few

I think Kets is great news, a nice parody account that adds humour without abusing other posters and doesn’t get involved in long running feuds that tie up pages and pages of the blog, it’s a short post and moves on.

Lingaard would be a super signing. Fraser has done ok down the right but will never score a goal. Bruno, Joel and Willock/Almiron with Lindgaard, ASM and Wilson/Wood up front will make relegation worries disappear quickly. Plenty of goals in the team all of a sudden.

Hope this is right, Lingard will be huge for us, at this moment in time. The perfect signing IMO. He shouldn’t have to prove himself as to how he done at west Ham. But he will still be chomping at the bit and will want to prove himself for the WC. Lingard will link up well with the other’s and provides a solid British PL experience spine to the team.

Atalanta rejected a last proposal from #Newcastle to sign Duván Zapata (30). The offer was 28M € +10 in bonds

No more attempts are expected in the next few hours, since the ‘Dea’ was emphatic that the Colombian is not for sale

Guimaraes is a great signing. The rest don’t improve the team. The players we’re linked with just seem like signings just for the sake of it. Lingard on loan would be acceptable, but I don’t think he’ll succeed here.

We need to be going for players like Tagliafico, Raphael Guerriero, Koulibaly, Andre Onana, Morata, Slimani, Ibrahima Sissoko etc. Quality foreign players. Not stop gap Brits who won’t improve the team.
