Newcastle Confirm The Signing Of Bruno Guimaraes

Newcastle United have confirmed the signing of Bruno Guimaraes from Lyon on a four-and-a-half year deal. The 24-year-old officially becomes Eddie Howe’s third signing of the winter window.

Bruno will wear the number 39 shirt, which was the number of the taxi cab his father drove in his native Brazil. The midfielder represents a massive coup for Newcastle in the notoriously difficult winter window.

He is currently on international duty with Brazil and will remain so until later next week. Guimaraes will get to meet his new teammate Miguel Almiron as Brazil have a World Cup qualifier against Paraguay on Tuesday.

Here is what head coach Eddie Howe had to say about his new playmaker:

“Bruno is a hugely exciting talent and has been one of our primary targets so I’m delighted to secure him. He strengthens the group immediately ready for the challenge ahead.

“He has been one of the standout performers in France and is a full international for Brazil so I have no doubt our supporters will really enjoy watching him.

“We look forward to welcoming him to the club on his return from international duty.”

He looks fantastic in the black and white shirt of Newcastle United. Welcome aboard Bruno!.

Phew!! Now it’s confirmed we can start plotting our starting 11 for Everton. Please miggy tell the team to not tackle him on Tuesday! Have a feeling (bar injuries and the ‘vid) that Howe may stick with that 11 from Leeds win?

Ah! Finally! I’ve been getting more and more worried the last few days that there was some Newcastle-type soap opera hijinks going on and Arsenal or Juve would steal him.

Like the whole reason for his shirt number though.

Bakker sounds a dead deal ( should we have a minutes silence for how many deals have died in the last few weeks?!) but I’m still hopeful for a deadline day surprise.

Still think we need a quality CB (even if we get Burn) and a forward.

    TDSarf,
On Lingard and minutes. They have that Elanga coming through and it surely paves the way for Sancho to step up. I wouldn’t worry too much about that.

    Brilliant signing a real statement.
Happy with Burn as well a big improvement on what we have.
Brighton fans speak very highly of him.
It’s been a brilliant window for us and to get these players in January the new owners deserve massive credit.
The Summer is going to be some rollercoaster can’t wait.

Jail – hope so. Greenwood has already f**ked up enough already, don’t need him to f**k this up too.

See it reported on the BBC now too and the original posts have been taken down (presumably on instruction from the police). Such a waste of talent on a piece of shit of a person.

    Bard/ Betty

had to respond to your comment unfortunately, generally I find your poems amusing and do heart them, the one you did about me I had a good laugh at.

But when you make the subject of the poems a person of ridicule I find them offensive, sorry but that’s how I feel.

And ascerbic is fine but I see them sometimes as more vitriolic.

As for my kipper slapping ritual it wasn’t just a bit of fun as was explained when it started and to date there are 820 views. 🙂

If anyone has missed it here you go.
