Newcastle Confirm The Signing Of Bruno Guimaraes

Newcastle United have confirmed the signing of Bruno Guimaraes from Lyon on a four-and-a-half year deal. The 24-year-old officially becomes Eddie Howe’s third signing of the winter window.

Bruno will wear the number 39 shirt, which was the number of the taxi cab his father drove in his native Brazil. The midfielder represents a massive coup for Newcastle in the notoriously difficult winter window.

He is currently on international duty with Brazil and will remain so until later next week. Guimaraes will get to meet his new teammate Miguel Almiron as Brazil have a World Cup qualifier against Paraguay on Tuesday.

Here is what head coach Eddie Howe had to say about his new playmaker:

“Bruno is a hugely exciting talent and has been one of our primary targets so I’m delighted to secure him. He strengthens the group immediately ready for the challenge ahead.

“He has been one of the standout performers in France and is a full international for Brazil so I have no doubt our supporters will really enjoy watching him.

“We look forward to welcoming him to the club on his return from international duty.”

He looks fantastic in the black and white shirt of Newcastle United. Welcome aboard Bruno!.

Sunderland sacked Johnson, will Defoe be their player manager? Would have liked to have seen Defoe come to us off bench and score 30 mins per game

Muller is a weird type of player, but I think he suit Wood. Muller is like a cocktail of ST,forward Left Right Center, No.10 all evenly mixed.

Think Trippier and Guimaraes are fine signings, but we’ve paid too much for Wood and Burns there, who would not have been close to our first choices either, although solid. I do like Dan Burns, as a pro. But hey ho, no complaints, we are strengthened, and hopefully there’ll be one maybe two more to come in on loan, possibly someone quite exciting in attack. Want Wilson back sharpish.

He still has that non-stop energy regardless of his age and I think it would be a great coup to see us into a new era and let Haaland or Mbappe take over 😉

Jesse Lingard has apparently spoken to Dan Burn about the defender’s potential move to #NUFC. The pair played at Birmingham together Handshake

Just maybe they might link up again on Tyneside. Still lots of work to do on both deals, Burn obviously a lot more likely than Lingard.

For the complaints about the cost of Wood and Burn, Wood was a release fee and really no choice, need another forward and just hope we still get better tomorrow. Burn, we have to improve the squad and as good as he has been, better than Clark, who could be number 1 choice if players still injured. We have to look at the bigger picture

Sunderland have announced that Lee Johnson has been sacked as head coach, leaving after a 6-0 defeat away to Bolton Wanderers this weekend.

The former Oldham and Bristol City boss arrived at the club in December 2020 when he replaced Phil Parkinson, but the club weren’t able to get out of League One after a play-off semi-final defeat to Lincoln.

I love the South American vibe developing.

Burn us a smart signing. Remember how City started, Bellamy etc. Eddie is a smart guy. He knows he is a better attack coach, and needs reliable defenders. We HAVE to get him solid central defenders, who are composed on the ball, and full backs who can sling crosses in. Burn is solid, it’s a good signing.

We shudnt forget, he’s huuuuge too, so good for set pieces. Him, Lascelles, Wood attacking vicious corners from Trippier.

    I like it.

It’s a great deal for Brighton though. They bought him for 3mill and selling him for 13m, and he’s about 30?

Sounds a couple of loans have been lined up with Woodman to Bournemouth and Hendrick to Middlesbrough.

Burn, similar to Wood. Good short term signings. Hoping Burn confirmed tonight, then two more in tomorrow, Lingard still seems possible, Henderson seems unlikely, late move for Origi would be great.

Ramsey surely will end up somewhere.

Was hoping he’d go to Man U to help with the Lingard situation.

I have a feeling Newcastle might match previous seasons’ league position but not points. There will be a lot team cancelling each other out, seems pretty close. Honestly Newcastle did okay a lots of game, just to get let down by poor decision and mistakes. I’ll make a BOLD prediction, I say Newcastle will finish 13th.

Been off the blog a little Jail, but I’m fine, and of course still keenly following our progress. Back home for a few months to look after an aged p, but going fine.

Busy, busy, busy, mostly playing golf and swimming, ha ha, but also having to run the gauntlet with siblings and in laws I’ve spent 30 years dodging every chance I could. 🙂

Me auld saintly Mum’s not in the best shape though, which is a bit of a worry. Trying to make sure the time left I get to spend with her has as much quality as we can wring from it. She’s a Gateshead girl, and a big Toon fan too ofcourse.
