Newcastle’s Late Push For Another Attacker Appears To Have Come Up Short

Newcastle have not yet given up hope of adding another attacker in this window. After Manchester United decided to pull Jesse Lingard off the market, Newcastle are now trying to hijack Everton’s permanent move for Dele Alli.

The Athletic’s David Ornstein is reporting Newcastle are enquiring about a loan move for the 25-year-old. However, it is being reported by other outlets that Alli is about to undergo a medical with Everton.

Newcastle have moved too late for any hopes of landing Alli at this stage. It would appear the former England international is set for Goodison Park with just four hours left in the window.

This late push signals that Newcastle are making a last-gasp effort to add another attacker. The chances are remote and the options are likely very slim this late in the window.

Though Keith Downie reckons that Atalanta are open to allowing Duvan Zapata to leave on loan. This is contrary to what has been reported all window long. Here is Downie’s tweet on the 30-year-old Colombian.

This seems almost an impossible endeavor at this point with the logistics involved. Newcastle’s incoming business will most likely end at five signings once Dan Burn is officially confirmed.

Outgoings continue this evening with Matt Bondswell heading to Shrewsbury Town on loan for the rest of the season. Best of luck, Matt!

Tyran…Howe likes to have 4 at the back and 5 in midfield with one up top morphing into 4-3-3 when we break forward.

I think he’ll stick with 4 at the back..but only my opinion.

I think Lascelles is for the chop…he’ll probably be classed as injured for Everton (even if he isn’t) and I think Howe will play

    Dubs
    Trippier. Schar. Burn. Target
    ASM. Joe. Shelvey. Willock. Bruno
    Wood

Bruno probably won’t start at Everton but will thereafter starting v Villa.

WTF! Why no Lewis in the final 25?

Also understand Ciaran Clark & Jamal Lewis have turned down moves away from NUFC despite not being in the 25-man squad to be submitted to Premier League #nufc

Barkley was pretty poor at villa so I’d rather keep Anderson and give him a chance.

Nketiah news is very quiet, Origi still feels like it could happen if we’re in for him.

between the red cards and now his apparent refusal to leave on loan, Clark is really damaging any ‘legacy’ he had here as a promotion hero

Newcastle are going to be left with a bloated squad should they fail to loan out a few players. Space in the 25-man squad needs to be found for Guimaraes, Targett & Burn, so certain players will be left out for the remainder of the season #NUFC

At least we’re not getting rid of Fernandez. Bit of a surprise as Graeme Jones and Howe have some sort of problem with him. He’s the best defender at the club. Ex Argentinian international. Been a great player for us.

I am not sure they want to bin Lewis but perhaps get him playing somewhere competitively where they can get a proper look at him as it seems his game time is going to get even more limited. The others need to be moved out and on.

I’m happy with all the signings we’ve made and will definitely strengthen us. However we are one injury away from disaster (ASM). That should not be the case after a month of negotiations.
We will have enough to survive if maxi stays fit. Fingers crossed.

I suppose if we lose ASM to injury and Wilson is fit a more traditional 442 with Murphy and Fraser as out and out wingers with WaW up front could work as an effective alternative.

    Evening Folks

So that looks like the end of business for this window, i can`t speak for anyone else but i think its been a very impressive transfer window, we all know the January window is notoriously difficult, we have got 5 really sound and dependable players who are all very good professionals, and they will really enhance our chances of staying in the premier league. Well done to all our owners they exceeded all my expectations. Like most of the fan base i would have loved to have signed Lingard, but it`s still been a good window as far as i`m concerned HWTL

    Asm is a bind, sometimes.
He leaves players standing waiting for the ball, on their heels, rather than release it, his timing isn’t very ‘team’.
    Top, personal skills, tho’.
