Newcastle’s Late Push For Another Attacker Appears To Have Come Up Short

Newcastle have not yet given up hope of adding another attacker in this window. After Manchester United decided to pull Jesse Lingard off the market, Newcastle are now trying to hijack Everton’s permanent move for Dele Alli.

The Athletic’s David Ornstein is reporting Newcastle are enquiring about a loan move for the 25-year-old. However, it is being reported by other outlets that Alli is about to undergo a medical with Everton.

Newcastle have moved too late for any hopes of landing Alli at this stage. It would appear the former England international is set for Goodison Park with just four hours left in the window.

This late push signals that Newcastle are making a last-gasp effort to add another attacker. The chances are remote and the options are likely very slim this late in the window.

Though Keith Downie reckons that Atalanta are open to allowing Duvan Zapata to leave on loan. This is contrary to what has been reported all window long. Here is Downie’s tweet on the 30-year-old Colombian.

This seems almost an impossible endeavor at this point with the logistics involved. Newcastle’s incoming business will most likely end at five signings once Dan Burn is officially confirmed.

Outgoings continue this evening with Matt Bondswell heading to Shrewsbury Town on loan for the rest of the season. Best of luck, Matt!

There’s no need for Lewis in the squad, we have Targett, Burn, Dummett and Ritchie who can all play there

If we stay up, the summer will be a lot more interesting as our league position won’t count against us

All we NEED to do is to stay up. So as long as the new signings help us achieve that, then job done. We obviously need more signings in summer to continue to push forwards but for now we just need enough to finish in 17th.

I think Fernández is decent to be fair. Our best defender for last two years imo. 32 argies caps. Should be at his peak. Dont think he would let us down

We do everything to avoid playing Gayle, so no. Playing ASM and even Murphy ahead of him.

Surprised he’s still here, been hanging around for so long now. By all accounts he’s good in the dressing room, but ffs that’s not worth a new 3 year deal he got last summer.

Just checked, he’s played a total across all competitions of 1460mins for us since July 2019, so two and half seasons and he’s played the equivalent of 16 matches.

    That’s one well paid cheerleader.

I’m expecting us to overhaul Leed, Brentford and Everton. Think woy will help Watford but may be to late gonna say it’s between Norwich Burnley Watford and Everton who goes down. Hopefully anyway.

Players like Lascelles Ritchie manquillo fraser ect, all know there time is up at this club once they are replaced, they are championship players lingering around from our Mike Ashley days, those days are gone now and the sooner i see the back end of them the better, sick of seeing lascelles costing us goals in the final few minutes of the game or ritchie not tracking back to mark his man in the final few minutes costing us all 3 points. we need real quality centre backs in who we can rely on to stop us conceding goals. we have conceded 43 goals ffs 43!!!, only Norwich have had more put past them at 45.

I dunno why we still don’t go for Nketiah or Origi. We have a couple of hours left. Can’t see it happening myself.

Disagree on manny m8, not spectacular but does a job with few mistakes and try’s his absolute hardest every game. He won’t rock the boat if he doesn’t play either so good to have in the squad for the foreseeable anyways. Just my opinion m8.

Maybes manquillo should stay as a squad player as he can have the odd decent game but we need consistency and quality on a regular basis, not just sometimes. these kind of players are sometimes kind of players, and there lack of real quality shows, Ritchie bless him he gives his all for the club but is he really a premiership player? players like that will be gone and they know it so they probably cant be arsed to put in a proper shift, when we sign real quality all across the pitch and replace championship standard players we have left then we will get results and consistency, and we will see what we have been missing out on since 1990 when we had shearer ect, a team that could play football and are exciting to watch on a regular basis, not just sometimes.

Killer Kilcline,. The was a player I lived so you must know your CBs Kilcline. Burn will do a good job for us a solid 7/10 player. He will do his utmost to ensure we stay in the PL.

The 5 players are really solid players 4 with so much batting in the PL experience. Bruno is our best signing for over 20 years. He will be massive for us and transform our MF. Burn, Targett and Trippier will really improve our back line. Wood will get his game going very soon.

Junkie, pisshead loser that is Paul Merson couldn’t have been further from the truth when he said we had adopted a scattergun haphazard approach this window.
The object of this window was clearly to buy players that would keep us up and then kick on in the summer.
Wood , Burn and Targett are good solid pros with plenty of PL experience , Trippier is a world class full back and hopefully Bruno will be the midfield dynamo we’ve been lacking for so long.
That injection of quality should do the trick .

If ASM gets injured we’re fkd. Really surprised we’ve not got another attacker in apart from Wood in this window.

I pray it’s enough for us to survive the drop.
