There’s good news in the Athletic today and from Sky Sports, that Reims have accepted Newcastle’s offer of around £25M plus add-ons (up to £8M) for the Reims talented young forward – Hugo Ekitike.
Newcastle have been linked with French wonderkid Hugo Ekitike for weeks now, and news from Sky Sports trusted journalist Keith Downie that the latest bid has been accepted.
£25m for Hugo Ekitike, in a deal that could rise to £33m…should they get it pushed through today. This will take Newcastle’s spending to around £120m(!) this window #NUFC https://t.co/uh2QVFDoLG

The 19-year-old 6ft 2ins striker is considered one of the best young talents in French football, and he is the kind of gifted young player Newcastle should be signing.
To get him in this month is a huge bonus in terms of our survival in the Premier League..
He joined Reims back in 2009 and has played 22 times for the French club with 9 goals and 3 assists, after making his debut at just 17.
The 19-year-old would be Newcastle’s 6th signing of this window, as the rush to get him his medical at Newcastle is now underway.
Newcastle have signed Trippier, Wood, and Guimaraes with Dan Burn close to being announced, and Matt Targett having his medical on Tyneside on a loan through the end of the season.

Fasten your seat belts, we could even sign more players today!!

Comment #15I suppose Ekitike would count as an U21 and therefore would not take up a place in the 25 man squad. But would we actually keep him or loan him back? At his age, he needs games.

Comment #22Weghorst will likely get a few for Burnley if the service is good.
A German Sky reported gave a little insight on SSN a little while ago though. Says that he’s a great character when things are going well, but was becoming a little bit of a negative influence at Wolfsburg as things we’re going too great. ‘Bad vibes’ from him when things are going smoothly. Also noted that he’s wanted a move to the prem for a while but Burnley certainly weren’t his first option.
So if Burnley continue to struggle and sit in the bottom 3, he doesn’t hit the ground running or is getting bad service, then it could mean he very quickly becomes unhappy there.
All ifs and buts of course.

Comment #29Honestly I think this window has been superb.
Got a proven goal scorer in the league to hold the fort whilst Wilson is recovering. Got a very highly thought of and still young Brazil international to really strengthen arguably our weakest area in midfield. Got a world class right back and leader in Trippier. Burn will be a very solid player whether he starts or is back up and being a local lad means he’ll be well up for the fight. Also has the advantage of playing under Potter, so could easily slot in to how Howe want’s to play. Targett is a very solid left back who can either fit right in if needed or provides much better cover as he can replace Ritchie in the left back order. Ekitike if it happens gives us a potential future star for seasons to come. Anything else is a cherry on top.
That’s an incredible window by all accounts. Even if Burn and Targett were the only arrivals today, that would still be a superb window and I don’t know how any fan could grumble at it.

Not sure about it… It seem they really expect to make something in the CPL. And they know it’s now or never, for half of the starters will probably leave this summer.

Yes mate.
If we get Ekitite(or other decent striker), it’s a 10/10 from me.
Obviously, plus Burn, Target…if we get Lingard or similar too, that’s an 11/10.
