Newcastle Agree On £25M Fee For Reims Wonder-Kid Hugo Ekitike

There’s good news in the Athletic today and from Sky Sports, that Reims have accepted Newcastle’s offer of around £25M plus add-ons (up to £8M) for the Reims talented young forward – Hugo Ekitike.

Newcastle have been linked with French wonderkid Hugo Ekitike for weeks now, and news from Sky Sports trusted journalist Keith Downie that the latest bid has been accepted.

The 19-year-old 6ft 2ins striker is considered one of the best young talents in French football, and he is the kind of gifted young player Newcastle should be signing.

To get him in this month is a huge bonus in terms of our survival in the Premier League..

He joined Reims back in 2009 and has played 22 times for the French club with 9 goals and 3 assists, after making his debut at just 17.

The 19-year-old would be Newcastle’s  6th signing of this window, as the rush to get him his medical at Newcastle is now underway.

Newcastle have signed Trippier, Wood, and Guimaraes with Dan Burn close to being announced, and Matt Targett having his medical on Tyneside on a loan through the end of the season.

Fasten your seat belts, we could even sign more players today!!

In what way Ash? I know Rome and Pescara very very well. Been to Rome Airport maybe 200 times. Used Pescara as a great beach and Ground control centre is in Fucino. In the mountains equi-distant. A bit like toon and Carlisle, only further.

If true, seems like Howe is sticking to 4 at the back. We’ll see if he move out Ritchie too. Don’t see a point loaning Lewis to a championship team, unless he plan to sell him in the summer.

Don’t think Bakker coming in. More like Howe planning to stick with back 4. Targett,Dummet and Burn. So Ritchie or Lewis have to be moved out.

Re: Lewis…if he’s not in the plans hes not in the plans. Either Lewis himself or Howe wants to see game time and it seems it will only get harder now. I think Ritchie stays at least until summer for his leadership and grease between the cogs…who doesn’t need a “friendly” slap on the head every now and again.

using the dennis wise youtube i think ekitike is a work in progress …cannot see how the wonder kid gets such a huge rep..would prefer arsenals wonder kid or lingard …just goes to show unless you go to matches and see you can get a false impression of a player…trippier off the ball is a prime example (not in the geoff nulty way)..class..happy to be proved wrong…

Lewis just hasn’t cut it so far. I think the potential is there but hasn’t been great when he has played

I’d like to think we don’t need Lingard this window and rather than as the media saying be we can’t afford him, it says that we don’t want him and won’t bow to their demands. Try as they might to be difficult, they’ve failed.

Could be an historic signing, biggest of the window potentially even if not the most expensive. You never know where the gems will come from. Really looking forward to next Tuesday. I should just be happy for Newcastle…but it would be glorious to drag Everton into muck.
