Bristol Rovers Confirm The Signing Of Elliot Anderson On Loan

Bristol Rovers have confirmed that Elliot Anderson has joined them on loan for the rest of the season. The League Two club are managed by former Magpie Joey Barton.

Anderson was denied a loan move last January but will now go out for some first-team football. The local lad made his Newcastle United and Premier League debuts early last year.

He struggled with a hip injury during the preseason missing the opening months of this campaign. While he has made the matchday squad on a few occasions, the 19-year-old has yet to get another appearance with his hometown club.

Bristol Rovers currently sit 12th in League Two but are on a 6-match unbeaten run stretching back to early December. Anderson will be mentored by Barton, who spent four seasons at St. James’ Park. The 39-year-old was appointed manager at The Memorial Stadium in February of last year.

Anderson joins Matt Bondswell, who moved to League One’s Shrewsbury on loan earlier today. Joe White moved to League Two’s Hartlepool a few days ago. There are some reports that Matty Longstaff will head to Mansfield, where Kelland Watts spent some time on loan a few years ago.

Shows our youngsters really aren’t all that when we can only match them up with League Two clubs.

Don’t get your hopes up for any of the current 18+ crop.

    Really barren at the moment.

    Repost missed the bus…

Killer Kilcline,. The was a player I lived so you must know your CBs Kilcline. Burn will do a good job for us a solid 7/10 player. He will do his utmost to ensure we stay in the PL.

The 5 players are really solid players 4 with so much batting in the PL experience. Bruno is our best signing for over 20 years. He will be massive for us and transform our MF. Burn, Targett and Trippier will really improve our back line. Wood will get his game going very soon.

Overall a great window for us but we still haven’t sorted out our biggest problem – Defence, we have the second highest goals conceded in the premier league, only Norwich have conceded more.

we might score more goals with our new signings and win more games, but defence is still our weakest aspect and i worry that we will continue conceding with Lascelles and shar dictating our defence. they just aren’t good enough. Howe seems to rate Lascelles and I just don’t understand why. as soon as him, Clark, and shar, are moved on the better it will be for us moving forward.

I see Kamara hasn’t gone anywhere during the window, so he’s a potential summer target on a free.
Stay up and then summer, get in on frees:

Sule/Ginter/Luiz Felipe/Tarkowski in order of preference.

    Kamara

    Lingard

Then sign Nunez, Ward-Prowse and Botman.

Disappointed to see Ramsey headed to Glasgow but I can understand why. Too bad they couldn’t get any attacking players in this window as I don’t see Wood scoring much. Let’s hope Willock and Miggy can start to contribute some goals

As it stands 3 won’t get a squad place. Hendricks might be out the door. Next question is who is out with injury for a good while?

Gayle should’ve been sold or loaned. He never gets a game.

    Clark should’ve gone…

Any 3 from Clark, Ritchie, Hendricks, Gayle, Matty longstaff, Kraft,

Hopefully 3 of those guys get loan deals. If not they are making up the numbers and playing with the kids

Our midfield and wings are now one of our strongest aspects, but the two centre backs and another forward should of been our main priority, we concede too many goals, and i cant see wood banging goals in for fun, he’s just not that type of player. so really we should be signing Zapata who I know would bang goals in left and right, he’s obafemi martins 2.0

If ASM gets injured we’re fkd.
Really surprised we’ve not got another attacker in apart from Wood in this window.

I pray it’s enough for us to survive the drop.

If we do then we will really kick on in the summer.

SholaShow, I would surmise that the reason we’ve heard nothing regarding the majority of those players is that they’ll either have agreed or will be working on pre-contract agreements ready for when their contracts end in the summer, I would be very surprised if we are even in that conversation right now or until at-least we are almost certain of Premier League survival, which at that stage will probably be too late for the vast majority of top calibre free agents, we aren’t talking about Frasers or Hendricks of the world here.

Underwhelming transfer business and has put our hopes of staying in the epl at risk
No playmaker no top class c half and no marquee striker
They had 31 days to sort this out and have cocked it up big style
Don’t come on here and pretend otherwise apart from trippier and bruno who will need time to adjust time which he doesn’t have wood burn and targett are bang average
So to stand any chance Wilson has to come back and start scoring because nobody else can the odd goal from other players isn’t going to cut it

Trippier, Burn and Target? In the back 4 plus Bruno in front of them as a DM.
    What more do you want?

We should be getting more goals from midfield, can see Jonjo scoring a few more, no reason why we can’t.

Disappointing we couldn’t get an out an out additional striker though.

I completely agree mate, why have we not signed a top class striker to secure our survival?? just WTF? are we really going to rely on Chris wood to keep us up? or that when Wilson returns from injury he’s suddenly going to bang in 10+ goals? or even Dwight Gayle? we still have Lascelles and shar in centre of our defence from about 5 years ago, just cant believe it to be honest, 100 million spent and we still haven’t signed a top class striker or centre back. we strengthened everywhere but where it was needed the most

Who’s Bruno gunna supply them killer passes for? Wood to run onto.. he has as much pace as shelvey ffs

Don’t know why a guy made of glass thinks he’ll be OK in Scottish Prem. Absolute bunch of sluggers, will kick him all over the place and there’s no protection from refs.

1st game is against Celtic, assuming he plays I’ll be surprised if he lasts till half time. 😀

I wondered whether having Bruno in team would give Joe the confidence to start scoring worldy’s like he apparently does regularly in training?

He’s certainly a player, we’ve seen that at last this Season. Maybe having someone he can talk to and rely on in midfield might just help him over his lack of confidence issue.

Be like a new signing 😉

Zapata yes I’d have loved him at NUFC for the right price because I think he brings a multitude of things including pace and strength, but knocking goals in left and right? I don’t think so…. he’s only ever scored over 20 goals in a league season once, the last 2-3 years have certainly been his best but prior to that and prior to playing in an excellent attacking Atlanta side he wasn’t prolific in Serie A, we still lack real consistent creativity in attack and without that I feel someone like Zapata would find he goals dry up over the course of a season, he’s also 30 years old, never played in the league and at the money discussed I personally think better/younger options would have been available.

I get the feeling that some of you posters on here wouldn’t have been happy unless we signed 10 players, all of whom good enough to play in the Champions League.

We’re in the relegation zone FFS! 15 points from 21 matches! It’s absolutely insane that some of you had expectations beyond what we have achieved!

Every player that we’ve signed is a higher standard than being in a relegation battle, Trippier and Bruno in particular are absolute class.

    Dubravka
    Trippier, Schar, Burn, Targett
    Shelvey, Guimaraes, Joelinton
    Fraser, Wilson, Saint-Maximin

Possibly our strongest line up when everyone is fit

Isn’t there an extra week or 2 allowed for loans to be sorted out after window shuts.

I always thought the loan market can carry on for a while.

Be useful if it does, bound to be a striker we could get on loan.

I think having bruno in midfield will make a hell of a difference…there were big gaps all over the midfield coz we either didn’t have the legs to cover the ground or just didn’t have anyone to read the game and sniff out any danger … I’m sure he’ll help get the best out of the players we have in midfield.

Would have been great to get another attacker in the door, but very happy with the transfers.

It’s going to look a lot better seeing Targett & Trippier bombing down each line and whipping it in to Wood with ASM, Fraser and one of the midfielders sniffing for knockdowns.

    Roll on the Everton game!

ToonDarnSarf, you’ve nailed it, I’m happy with what we’ve done. I think everyone who we have signed was needed and has added to the squad, with the exception of Bruno they all know the league and can step straight up.

Like everyone I’d have loved a twist today, a bit of flair and attacking creativity brought into the forward line but we need to be realistic, attackers and forwards of quality are the hardest players to find let alone sign, especially while you’re rooted in the bottom 3 and still facing a relegation fight over the coming months.

Who we’ve signed is what we needed, nothing more, nothing less, and I for one am happy that we can kick on.

Target and Trippier will supply loads of crosses for Wood. He should get 12 to 15 goals. Wilson will struggle to get place back. Wood will also cause problems in the air and our forwards and midfielders can exploit the situation at corners and free kicks. They can get10 goals. I think we will score 30 in last 17 games and a tighter defence means we can reach mid table
