Newcastle Enter Contract Talks With Local Midfielder – Report

Recently, Eddie Howe revealed that contract talks were set to begin with Fabian Schar, who is out of contract in the summer. The 30-year-old confirmed that telling a Swiss outlet that he expected his future to be sorted out in a few weeks.

Fabian can sign a pre-contract with a foreign club as he is only a few months away from his contract expiring. Schar made it clear that his priority is to remain on Tyneside, where he has emerged as Howe’s preferred right-footed center-back.

Schar is not the only Magpie Howe is keen to keep on board. He’s mentioned his desire to get Sean Longstaff penned to an extension. Like Schar, Sean is out of contract in the summer but he has not received that amount of games of the Swiss defender.

Nevertheless, The Times is reporting that Newcastle and Longstaff have now entered contract negotiations. The 24-year-old is still on the contract he signed in December 2018 before his breakthrough into the first team one month later.

It’s been a bumpy ride for Sean since that glorious eight-match stretch under Rafa Benitez early in 2019. A knee injury brought that season to an abrupt end and he’s struggled for form and confidence ever since.

Sean has not yet gotten a prolonged chance under the new boss. He’s made just 8 appearances, only 2 of which were starts, since Howe’s appointment in early November.

He’s still young and Howe can potentially get the best out of him. With him being a local lad, getting Sean extended for at least the next couple of seasons makes a lot of sense.

    Repost missed the bus…

I’d be hopeful of a draw at best if Chelsea were not embroiled in the events taking place off the Field though I must confess though Sparky ?

I speak with so many Chelsea fans down here and their feeling is absolute dread of their club and it is filtering into the team and apparently manager (Tuchel). Their is a huge black cloud hanging over them and playing us tomorrow is probably the last team they want to face (behind City and Liverpool) at this exact moment in time because of our amazing form we are in.

They (Chelsea fans) are saying they won’t exist if something cannot get resolved now. I think it will as Chelsea are one of the big boys and a lot of powerful people in powerful positions support them. So they will be OK eventually, but rather them than us. We have enough crap with NUFC to last a lifetime…

I was listening to GB news yesterday and there was a guy on talking about Ukraine, the story then changes to Abromavich and Chelsea, this guy was a fanatical Chelsea supporter (his words) and he tried to spin everything on us re KSA involvement in Yemen and The Prince re Kashoggi chopping him up, turned very nasty. However, Eamon Holmes shot him down in a second. He stated there is zero proof so that’s discounted so let us move on lol like Eamon for that even though he is a staunch Manure fan.

    Sean
    Don’t read this!
    .
    .
    .
The new Newcastle will need to empty up plenty of spaces. Some excellent servants like Clark and Ritchie can continue with good careers elsewhere, but wouldn’t be playing for a City, say.

Unless we go long term (which we have been warned, actually) I expect this team to be unrecognisable in a year or two and Sean, as many others, can do very well in a lower placed PL team. That, hopefully, won’t be NUFC.

Brighton and Southampton were excellent wins, no doubt. But, if we played each of them ten games in a row, how many would we win? 2-4?

We need to be dominating mid-table teams in the future.

I love my rugby as well…Ive got tickets for two games in Marseilles and one in Nice in the group stages, and I was lucky enough to go to the WC final in Japan in 2019…great day…but terrible game from our perspective.

Dont know where youre based but no doubt we could meet up if the draw permits.

    Viva Blighty.

Lord Nelsons deputy was Admiral Lord Collingwood. Collingwood was born in the Toon. When Nelson was killed Collingwood then was in charge.

The French and Spanish were routed at Trafalgar by our navy.

The French were not so cocky after that – they got their jacksies well and truly walloped.

Well, in Paris, so don’t hesitate to make me know if you come…

If England win his group, they will play in Marseille for the QF ( in Paris if they are second ), anyway, both the semi finals and the final are in Paris.

Doubt Chelsea players will be that affected by events off the pitch when playing at home… hoping for a draw but it’s going to be very hard.. even though we’ve had an upturn in fortune and EH is doing wonders with our players , they haven’t suddenly turned into a top 4 team – am looking forward to the game though and no reason we can’t stop them scoring , especially if lukaku plays 😀

    FTC,
I`m sure Chelsea will be fine in the long term but still, the uncertainty of the club over the short term must be a huge concern for the fans.
Like you say , better them than us, we have had enough crap over the years, and who gave a damn about us, nobody.

    DrGloon,

If you look at the stats form table games played since the turn of the year…it has us level on points as Liverpool right now (2nd on goal difference). So in theory I say we are at this present in time for form then we are Top 2 😀 if you want to look at it that way. Chelsea are beatable right now definitely!

I know I know just kidding about we are top 2. The team we have unchanged are IMO top 8 team next season easy 😉

    Questions:

1 I’m a huge Shelvey’s fan, but he appeared tired during the two last game, anyone to replace him?

2 Why Manq rather than Kraft?

3 Is there definitively a problem between ASM and Howe?

Tbh I’m very worried this uncertainty is going to Unite them at least in the short term and inspire them to play even better.

Tomorrow could be a bad day at the office, but if we really turn up and put in an equal performance to some of our recent games(not the last 2) then we could get something.

I’ve never been more hopeful going down here and that’s exciting. Win, loose or draw!

Niafron Shelvey has actually turned into a pretty fit player, I appreciate you might have noticed something I didn’t, but I didn’t see him tiring much, Krafth looked very tired by the end of the match, and Fraser just looked wrecked he surely can’t play 3 games the the space of a week or a little over it.

So ice a feeling Miggy will ve in for Fraser, Manq for Krafth and J7 for Bruno.

It’s all a guessing game though tbf.
