Newcastle have announced that Joe White has signed a new three-year contract. The 19-year-old is currently on loan with Hartlepool in League Two.
Congratulations, @Joeewhite10! ??

Joe White follows Kell Watts in signing a new deal while out on loan. Watts signed a new two-year deal last month and has been on loan with League One’s Wigan since the beginning of this season.
White has been with Newcastle since 2016 having previously spent time at his hometown club Carlisle United. He started getting some recognition in 2019 when he was called up to first-team training by then-manager Steve Bruce.
His rise through the Magpie ranks has continued into the new era. He’s made the matchday squad on four occasions this season including three times under Eddie Howe. While he has yet to make his debut, he is one of the brighter prospects in the Academy.
White said the following about signing such a long-term deal with Newcastle:
“I think one of the main reasons was the new manager coming in. As soon as he joined, I was training with the first team every day which was one of the things that I wanted.
“From what I’ve seen in training and how much the team has improved in a short space of time, which you can see in the recent performances and results, it helped massively with my decision to stay.
“He’s spoken to me personally a few times and mentioned that he already knew me before he came here. It’s important for me to trust him and have a plan of what I’m going to do in the future and what he wants from me, where he sees me playing, and that gave me the reassurance that this is the right and best place to be.
“I’ve learnt a massive amount from him and the biggest thing is mentally. His training sessions and everything he does in his drills aren’t just technically challenging. You have to be switched on and that seems to be paying off in the games with the first team.
“Tactically, he’s crazy and he also likes technical players. Hopefully, he’s been impressed from what he’s seen from me.”
White has made 9 appearances with Pools contributing 2 assists. He has generally been deployed on the left side of a front during his loan spell. The youngster will likely head out on another loan this upcoming summer.
He is now inked up for at least the next three seasons. Hopefully, he is one of the young Magpies that can break into the first team in the not too distant future.

Comment #3Carltoon – been dragged back into it because of the high profile takeover and the 81 people who were executed I presume. And due to the official reason of why the takeover took so long that the Premier League were seeking assurances of the separation between the Saudi state and PIF. You have to assume the PL received those assurances so why are we being brought into the topic? Are American owned PL clubs brought up when the US executes someone who was actually innocent?

Comment #7Munster Mag – agreed re Chubby Brown and Frankie Boyle. The latter is smart with his jokes and knows exactly where the line is. He plays with it and then takes a huge fooking stride right over it knowingly. But his jokes are smart. Chubby Brown’s jokes are still in the dark ages.

Comment #17bettyswallocks – it’s just not relevant though. If I start talking about oppression of women and the fact that a century ago, women couldn’t vote in this country, are you going to ask if I’m a woman? Or if I mention that there were actual laws actively discriminating against black people in the US in the 60s, are you going to ask if I’m black?
I have friends and family who are male, female, black, white, brown, straight, gay and all sorts of variants and combinations of the above. I love them all.

@200, posted prematurely, unfinished on previous thread
I listened to Sunday’s match on 5 Live and the commentators were full of praise, waxing lyrical about the way Eddie Howe had transformed the players that were there before January, praised the January buys and enthused about the way he has the lads playing. They couldn’t get the penalty decision.
In summary the 5 Live were full of praise about the way Edfie Howe’s made a difference and that we were unlucky to lose to a very good Chelsea.
And then to MotD….. last on, no analysis, no discussion or replay of the penalty decision only Wrighty piped up to say we should’ve had the pen.

“Gay” used to be an extremely useful word. It showed up frequently in poetry and prose–Shakespeare used it 12 times–in part because it has no precise synonym. The general sense of the word is a combination of joyous, mirthful, bright, exuberant, cheerful, sportive, merry, light-hearted, lively, showy and pleasant.
I would say that most of us on the blog are Gay!

Comment #23TDS…….. I also have many close friends from diverse cultures and sexual orientations .
The only reason I asked is that you made it relevant when responding to Bob’s comment on it being OK to make light and joke about stuff as opposed to being offended.
You pointed out that your gay friends who were still not open about it were sitting there in pubs cringing when gay jokes were told.
All my gay friends love the jokes and banter and fire back with some real outrageous stuff.

Comment #26bettyswallocks – I’m in my 40s. I don’t go to the pub with 15 or 16 year olds any more I can assure you! I Was referring to things that I’ve been told about how tough it is to be sitting in a pub as a young lad who is in the closet (maybe the parents are very religious and anti-gay too for example) and really worried about how people will react if/when you come out as gay. And the next table is full of adults making jokes about gay this and gay that. It’s the same if a kid is struggling with childhood sexual abuse or a woman was recently raped, it’s really not on for the next table to be laughing and joking about these things.
That’s why I just think it’s important to consider the audience. Sure, if you’re sitting there with a bunch of (obviously in some way) gay people and you’re all making gay jokes, nobody should take offence to that. But a bunch of straight guys calling each other a “poof” when someone can’t down a pint? Different.

There is a huge difference.

Comment #31TDS…….. Pleeeeease…. This is exactly the point Bob was making. What gives anyone ( including you) to decide what jokes are off limits to a group of guys in a pub.
Might I suggest that the young, underage to be in a pub drinking, gay boys should have been aware of the type of jokes that get told in pubs.

Mar 15, 2022 at 4:50 PM
Comment #32Mund – I did say that it depends on circumstances. But just imagine how you’d feel if something bad happened to you or someone you love, or they’re really struggling with something, and someone in the pub is making light of it or taking the piss out of people who are like that.
Only the most extreme people say those kind of jokes should never be told but most people would say that there’s often a time and a place. I’ll behave differently in private with a bunch of close friends than I will with a different group in the pub, and I’m very cautious of making certain types of comments/jokes online.

Comment #33So here we have TDS trying to tell us that a load of half drunk guys in a pub should be conscious what not to mention in case there are some 15 or 16 year olds in there that might be offended.

Comment #34An excerpt from the Chronic piece about Neville and Carraghers’ view that Eddie Howe should answer questions about himself working for the club which is 80% Saudi owned:
“…. in any other walk of life, we’d be very nervous about working for an organisation that had money associated with it that wasn’t particularly clean.
…..”
And they’re acting as pundits for Sky which is owned by Murdoch as of The Sun, phone tapping and more. News International clean? It’s about time they opened their eyes.

Comment #35Tbh I laugh at a lot of stuff when I know it’s humour but I’ll be honest I never make jokes of such things or about others as I always fear karma will come round and next I’ll be the laughing stock. So regardless of my clashes in here with a select few I’m always respectful in the real world as you never know what’s going on behind someone else’s eyes.

Comment #36bettyswallocks – I’m not telling anyone what to say or not say. I’m a big believer of freedom of speech and I certainly wouldn’t make any of it illegal. But I’m exercising my rights for freedom of speech to think people that do that are insensitive at best and I’d like them to consider the impact of their words.
Ok, forget underage then, an 18 year old in the closet, who has suffered sexual abuse as a child, who is depressed and considering suicide, who is trans, who has AIDS, whose little brother is being abused, who’s just had a miscarriage, whose partner is non-white, who’s Jewish etc. An occasional joke they can probably take but if it’s a regular thing they hear in the pub, at work, at college, online etc. then you gotta understand how that’s rough.

Comment #37Forgot to add neither am I offended by such jokes.
Hate is a different matter as if it’s predetermined and targeting someone then I’d step up and say something. If it’s intentional and direct then that’s wrong, extremely wrong. Jokes tho are just jokes
