NBC Sports Team Give Out Great Praise To Eddie Howe And Newcastle

NBC Sports covers the Premier League here in the USA, and they have been extremely complimentary all this year to both Eddie Howe and the Newcastle team.

They came over to England last weekend to cover three of the games, and the first one was at Newcastle last Friday night, and they couldn’t quite get over the atmosphere at St. James’ Park.

The NBC team were clear after the game that this was a massive win for the Magpies.

Here is what former Wimbledon midfielder Robbie Earle said after the game:

“The scenes at the end made it feel like this was more than three points.”

“This was almost guaranteeing Premier League football next season at this football club and we know about the new takeover.”

“We know about the money at this football club, but it’s so important. Eddie Howe’s job was to make sure he kept Premier League football and I think they’ve done that tonight.”

“When you think about what Eddie Howe’s done in a short space of time, just think of the job that Frank Lampard’s done at Everton and how difficult it can be going into clubs, changing habits, changing losing ways.”

“I want to know what are the first few things he wanted to work on because there was a lot going wrong at this football club when he got here.”

“And you can sometimes try and come in and do too much, but I think there’s probably two or three things he’s worked on.”

“The players have bought into it, they support him, and now they look like they’re safe.”

And here’s video of the NBC Sports match commentators Arlo White and Robbie Mustoe, the former Middlesbrough midfielder, immediately after the game ended.

In this same NBC video, Eddie Howe and goalscorer Chris Wood are interviewed:

Finally here is former USA and Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard’s comments on the Newcastle situation:

“I think they’re safe. Prior to the last three losses, they were unbeaten in nine, and at home, we see why they’re so good.”

“We see what can be when you watch this crowd, they were up for it when the ball went in the back of the net twice, once was disallowed but they are hungry for success, hungry for goals, and hungry for the way that Eddie Howe plays.”

“When I watch him on the touchline, he has a calm demeanor.”

“So when you talk about how he gets that point across, you can almost imagine him on the training ground being articulate, being calm, making sure that he gets his point across.”

“Listen, the sign of a good manager is how often the light bulb can go off over players’ heads each and every day and it looks like he’s getting that from his.”

The NBC Sports Premier League team have been excellent for a number of years now – long may it continue.

What do you think?

Clint he probably is a decent guy to have in the background but how many of these types do we need?
Eddie already has the backroom team he needs and we can’t keep filing squad places because a player is a good guy and a motivator or he’s experienced.
The thing we seem to be forgetting is the majority of the rest of the league will be strengthening their squads as well and more substantially than last summer/winter due to increased finances.
Personally I think this summer is the one where we need to twist and over invest else that dream of Amanda’s and the PIF will never be a reality.

Darnik – it was TMQ who suggested getting rid of more than 10 players mate. That was what I was questioning. Because if you sign 7 players, there’s no need to get rid of 10+. I know we’re all hoping that some of the youth players can step up but the younger ones don’t need to be registered. I’d rather keep the likes of Wilson & Lascelles around plus some of Manquillo, Sean, Krafth, Lewis etc. Ideally, we have a squad of 25 players that is much improved compared to this season but we also have a few young players pushing. However, I suspect the best option for the best young players will be a season in the Championship.

it’s going to be interesting to see how many bids we get for players across that list and from what level of clubs they come from if indeed they do ,
me i think it’s going to be a hard ask and difficult moving that many in one go,

There’s sqyad strengthening and there’s team building.
While others spend on players that tgey can get.. we should get players that fit a real project.
    Could be crucial!

I’m sure that’s not lost on Eddie!

TDS I said on a previous thread 6-7 players is realistic on top of what we signed in January and a few decent players we already have. I never said we had to replace them all.
    1 x GK Strakosha
    1 x CB/RB Milenkovic
    1 x DM Tielemans
    1x LAM Diaby
    1x RAM/LAM/RW/LW Carrasco
2 x ST Schich, Nkunku or Ekitike.

TMQ – but that’s my whole point. Why get rid of those players unless we replace them. I mean, if we’re looking at the goal of challenging for the title or at least getting into the CL, then we’ll get rid of everyone apart from Bruno and Tripper probably? Maybe keep ASM if he can add some brains to his talent.

Hibbit totally agree it will be a hard job getting rid but I just don’t find the point in keeping players we will never play or hardly ever.

    The previous thread was misleading…

We have shit loads of cash, and Lord Scattercash has the purse strings.

Send me your wish lists and I’ll sort accordingly

All ridiculous requests considered…cos we is loaded and if we don’t spend it this summer, we’ll be restricted in the following three years!

    Just so you know! 😀

I’d just like to point out that we can get at least 3 Belgian midget strikers for the price of one of these normal sized transfer targets everyone’s always harping on aboot.

PS…we won’t be getting rid of loads of players…we’re going down the Man City route…2 teams of 11, any of which would finish in the top 6 if allowed to have two teams in the same league.

    It’s the future!
